Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 48: Can I?
Leonora helped Rivana settle on a bed. Frankie had gone to get another dress from his boutique, and she hoped he would return soon before the cake-cutting.
"I was wrong about your husband," Leonora murmured, plopping beside Rivana. She scrolled through the internet, and many videos were already up covering the earlier drama.
"Hmm?" Rivana hummed in confusion.
Leonora grinned and replied, "I thought he liked you. But no," when Rivana turned to her, Leonora grinned and continued, "He likes you a lot."
Rivana smiled in response. Her hands instinctively fidgeted with the edges of the coat, her husband’s coat. It was warm, and she could almost feel his scent, which was frustratingly intoxicating her.
"You better treat him well!" Leonora warned her friend, almost becoming Azrael’s fan. She had been very skeptical about their unexpected marriage earlier, but after spending the last two days at the mansion, the way Azrael treated her friend, she had guessed he was slowly liking her. And he proved it today by taking her side. It relieved her, so happy that Rivana found the guy who would cherish her the way she deserved to be.
"Ah, these heels," Rivana grumbled, bending down to take them off. Crossing her legs, she massaged her ankle with a sigh.
"He is getting low heels too, don’t worry," Leonora murmured apologetically. In her attempts to get the best for her friend so she could match the aura of her husband, she had gone a little too far.
Just then, someone knocked on the door before entering inside. The guards closed the door behind them while Leonora instantly got up from her seat.
Rivana couldn’t suppress a smile. After all, it was her charming husband.
Azrael looked at her before his eyes lowered to her leg. A frown tugged at his lips, seeing how she dropped her leg she seemed to be massaging earlier. Walking closer, he squatted in front of her, making Leonora take a step back and almost squeal. The way he didn’t even hesitate to kneel in front of Rivana. Oh, good lord! He was a keeper!
"What’s wrong?" Azrael asked, taking her leg and scanning it.
"No-nothing," Rivana replied, shaking her head. She tried to retract her leg, but Azrael grasped it tightly, his eyes busy scanning where she was hurt. Her heart fluttered, and she felt a mix of embarrassment and exhilaration.
Azrael scanned the heels beside and then the back of her ankle. With a sigh, he murmured, "You got a blister."
"It’s nothing big," Rivana murmured, her cheeks turning red as he was holding her leg. The way his fingers tenderly caressed her toe, was embarrassing and exhilarating at the same time.
Azrael looked up at her and asked, "Are you tired?"
"A little," Rivana replied, pursing her lips.
"Let’s go home then," Azrael murmured, releasing her leg before standing up.
"But the guests and—"
Rivana’s words stuck in her mouth as her husband picked her up effortlessly in his arms. He adjusted her well, his hands firmly holding her in a princess style. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, her initial surprise turning into embarrassment.
"Ezekiel will wrap it up," Azrael replied, leaving his uncle to end the party. He then glanced at Leonora, who was still fangirling, and came out of her shock.
"Oh, yeah!" She passed Rivana’s sling bag.
Azrael held it in his hand and carried his wife out of the room. She had enough fun today, and it was time to rest.
He carried her all the way out of the hotel. Rivana couldn’t help but bury her head in his chest whenever someone stopped just to look at them. The hotel staff bowed to them as they got out, and even a few paparazzi clicked pictures, but her husband gave no one a single glance except for her.
A car rolled over, and the chauffeur hurried to open the door. Azrael carefully placed Rivana in the back seat before he walked to the other side and entered the car.
"Drive back to the mansion," he instructed. The driver nodded and drove away.
After almost an hour’s ride, they reached the house. Azrael got out first and went to pick Rivana again.
"It’s just a small blister. I can walk," Rivana retorted with a pout, not wanting to be embarrassed even in front of the house staff.
"Barefoot?" Azrael raised an eyebrow. When Rivana was at a loss for words, he broke into a small smile and picked her up.
They walked inside the house, and luckily there weren’t many maids. Azrael carried her to the master bedroom. He kicked the door behind him and finally put Rivana down on the ground.
"Get changed into something comfortable," Azrael ordered, walking over to the nightstand to get the first aid box.
Rivana hummed and quickly ran into the bathroom. As much as she didn’t wish to get out of his coat, she reluctantly took it off, considering the dress was a little suffocating for her. Quickly washing up her face and the stains all over her neck, she looked around for clothes in the wardrobe. She slipped into one of the silky white nightgowns she wore to sleep.
Tying her hair into a messy bun, she walked out and found him sitting on the edge of the bed.
Azrael’s eyes subtly widened when they fell on her. The nightgown was knee-length with an upper jacket, covering all the enticing parts, but he had never seen her in it, which was frustrating.
Rivana realized her mistake and turned red. There were only pajamas arranged for her by the staff, but Leonora got her nightgowns and other things she was usually comfortable in. This was the first time he had seen her in such intimate outfits, and his look was enough to heat up her body. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Azrael controlled himself. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Come here."
Rivana nodded and walked to the bed. Azrael got up, and as she settled on the soft mattress, he took out the band-aid from the box and squatted in front of her.
"Don’t wear them if you are uncomfortable," he scolded, applying the band-aid on her ankle.
Rivana nodded with a smile. Once he was done, he got up and said, "Good night."
A pout formed on Rivana’s lips as he turned around to leave. She held his hand and stopped him.
Azrael turned around and blinked at her in confusion.
"Take off your shirt."
Her command confused him even more. With a sly smile, he replied, "I don’t think that’s a good idea, baby girl."
Rivana blushed at his comment. "I need to check on your wound," she quickly clarified.
Azrael smiled in amusement. Unbuttoning his shirt, he murmured, "Oh, my bad."
He took off his shirt and, throwing it on the bed, sat in front of her. His eyes gleamed with mischief again as they locked on Rivana, making her regret letting him stay.
"Turn around," Rivana ordered with a pout.
With a smile, Azrael followed his wife’s command and slightly turned so she could see the bandage.
Rivana carefully took off the bandage and scanned the wound. The last two days, he had been so busy that it was even rare to have a private chat with him. And she was worried if he was really taking care of his wound, considering how even the doctor team was dismissed at his order.
Rivana caressed the dried-up wound, making sure to be careful. With a pout, she murmured, "It might leave a mark."
"It will fade away over the years," Azrael replied, sounding as if it was just a tiny paper cut. It made Rivana wonder how many times he had been shot and badly injured. And the few marks all over his body clearly said she wouldn’t be able to hear the hell he went through all these years.
With a sigh, she took a step back and murmured, "All done."
Azrael turned to face her, and his smile conveyed he had no intentions of leaving without teasing her. He leaned back and rested his hands on the bed.
Rivana gulped as his body was a full-on display for her to gawk at. Her eyes roamed over his chest, even the dragon tattoo smirking at her. It was so unfair and torturous!
"So, you want me to leave now?" Azrael asked, drawing her eyes back to his face.
"Yes!" Rivana replied with a huff. "You need rest, so you should sleep early," she murmured, her voice shaking slightly under his dark gaze.
"True," Azrael nodded in agreement. Uncrossing his legs, he reached for her hand and pulled her onto his lap, causing her to gasp.
Rivana’s heart skipped a beat before racing wildly as his gaze locked with hers in an intense battle as if contemplating if he was doing the right thing.
"But I need to recharge myself first," Azrael continued, his words creating butterflies in Rivana’s stomach. Azrael couldn’t hold back anymore, not after recalling how she had tried to make a move first. Reaching out, he raised his hand, his thumb gently grazing the edge of her lower lip, his touch making Rivana’s toes curl up.
Meeting her gaze, he asked, "Can I?"
