"Olivia is pregnant."

The words hit Elaine like a crashing wave, drowning out every other sound. Her fingers tightened around the edge of the table as she stared at Alex, waiting—hoping—he would say it was a lie, a misunderstanding. But his silence confirmed it.

Her voice came out quieter than she intended. "Now what?"

Alex let out a slow breath. "If the child is mine, I'll take responsibility. But if Olivia is lying, she'll pay for this. I won't let her ruin what we have."

If this child isn't mine, then she's out of our lives forever. And if it is... then nothing changes between us. You and I will be together, no matter what."

Elaine swallowed hard. "But... is it possible?"
