Strange Grief Wants to Retire ~ The Weakest Hunter Dreams of a Hero ~-Chapter 466.2: New Realm

Just as I let out a helpless sigh, there is a sudden commotion outside the room. The door slams open without a knock, and Luke and the others come bustling in.

The whole Imperial Capital is in an uproar, but you guys are still in high spirits.

“Cry! This is THE best! I can’t believe the Imperial Capital became a Treasure Shrine! Well, all the Phantoms fled, but………… But next time, I’ll definitely not let them escape.” (Luke)

“It’s not as big as a deal as I thought, but it’s convenient to be able to absorb Mana Materials even while in the city, riight~. Although it seems like it might lead to a horde of half-baked Hunters popping up tho’.” (Liz)

You guys are probably the only ones happy that the Imperial Capital became a Treasure Shrine.

Well, originally 《Strange Grief (Nageki no Borei)》 used to just sleep inside a Treasure Shrine like it was nothing.

Then Sytry, whose eyes shine as bright as Luke’s or Liz’s, raises one finger and says.

“Cry-san, maybe Relics will even manifest all over the city too!!” (Sytry)

“!! Un, un, that’s right!” (Cry)

“Don’t be happy about this!” (Lucia)

Lucia immediately fires back with a retort. No way…… I am not happy about it. Just a little bit. It is fine if Relic appears, but losing the safe zone because of it is the worst. I am unlucky, so if I am not careful, a Phantom might manifest right in the Clan Master’s Office.

“Do you even understand who is to blame for this situation right now? Anthem-san has been working nonstop for the church for three days and three nights straight, you know?” (Lucia)

“Here, here, Lucia-chan~. I’m sure Cry-chan had his reason for doing it, and Anthem-nii won’t flinch from just three all-nighters.” (Liz)

Liz calms Lucia as she gets a little mean………… No, I didn’t do it with any particular intention, you know!?

Or rather, can you stop making it sound like I did it on purpose??

“That’s right, Lucia. Think about it calmly. The benefits of the Imperial Capital becoming a Treasure Shrine outweigh the risks. Right, Cry?” (Luke)

This is bad. It is starting to look like I am the same kind as Liz or Luke. Eva’s disgusted gaze hurts my heart.

“N-No, no, that’s not okay! Turning the Imperial capital into a Treasure Shrine is unforgivable. It would probably be a crime under the Empire’s law too.”

“It is not just a maybe, if you did that you would definitely be sentenced to death.” (Eva)

“Zebrudia is quite inflexible. Even though I had achieved so much and despite having no evidence against me, I still ended up with a negative Level.” (Sytry)

Says Eva with an exasperated look on her face. She still doesn’t know that I am the cause of this commotion (Though it is only a slight possibility that I might be). Meanwhile, Sytry and the others have probably heard the story from Lucia.

“But Cry-san’s achievements are on a completely different level. There is also Yggdra, so I don’t think the Empire would be so quick to impose capital punishment.” (Sytry)

“………… Cry-san, what did you do?” (Eva)

“Yeah~, yeah~, calling Saya-chan was kinda like thanks to Cry-chan too.” (Liz)

Sytry is basically on my side. But for her to say something like this…… It might mean that the situation I am in is actually quite bad. There is nothing I can do about it now tho’.

Sytry speaks cheerfully to me who, as expected, cannot laugh this off with a badass attitude.

“Don’t worry, if you are sentenced to death, we can just quickly flee the Imperial Capital! Zebrudia isn’t the only great nation, any country would welcome us!” (Sytry)

“Hey, Syt! Stop joking around! It will be fine, Leader. There is no chance you will be sentenced to death. Even “Branch Manager Gark (Gark-Shibucho)” will protect you, probably.” (Lucia)

“That’s right, Cry. Even I didn’t get any death penalty, so you’ll be fine too!” (Luke)

I think Luke should reflect on his actions a bit more. Rather, you are surprisingly self-aware of your own actions, aren’t you. Somehow, when I have this silly exchange, I feel like my shoulders are finally starting to relax.

As I sigh, Liz suddenly remembers something and says with her eyes sparkling.

“Riiight! Cry-chan, did you meet Saya-chan? Just like what you said Cry-chan, she’s an incredibly powerful ability user, y’know~. It seems she’s so strong that she’s never really been in a pinch, but it looks like her abilities have only gotten stronger since this incident.” (Liz)

“My new gas can probably beat her though, maybe.” (Sytry)

“We planned to do our mock battle soon too. We did make a promise about it.” (Lucia)

“Me too! I’m planning to do it too. Although I didn’t make any promises!” (Luke)

………… Saya has it tough too. Well, you see, they seem to get along surprisingly well, so I guess they are friends, right? Watching my childhood friends bickering back and forth, I feel like I was back in time, and suddenly, nothing else mattered anymore.

I certainly made a big mistake this time. But I have made mistakes countless times before, and with everyone’s help, I have managed to overcome them and get to where I am today. This time too, with everyone’s help, we will be able to make it work somehow.

It is true that I don’t have the skills of a Level 8. However, regardless of this, the ability of 《Strange Grief (Nageki no Borei)》 that has been honed over the past five years as a Hunter has certainly reached Level 8. There is no point in worrying about it any more than that. I will just clear all my worries out of my head for now.

The person who enters is a knight wearing the familiar armor of the Zebrudia Empire. He looks down at me and announces in a clear, resonant voice.

“Cry Andrich. You have been brought here on suspicion of treason. In accordance with the Empire’s law, you are obligated to undergo interrogation. I am aware of your abilities, but I would like to advise you to refrain from any reckless actions.” (Knight)

I couldn’t make the last post in time, so I ended up committing the act of posting several chapters in one day, but I’d be very happy if you enjoy it even a little! This chapter was advertised as it would be mainly about Lucia, but now that it’s over, I am filled with a lot of questions: was it really mainly about Lucia? ( ´ー｀)

Thanks for reading! And this marks the end of the 10th Arc of Strange Grief! This arc was super short compared to the previous arc but it was still super fun! Lucia being scared of horror and Saya discovering her true power was unexpected. But next arc, we will most likely have Cry going to the same prison as Kenbi and Kuubi! I am sure that Cry had to take action because Franz was too slow, and Cry knew that something was going to happen in the prison where those two are held so he had to go there and fix everything! Are we going to see Kryhi and Kool again!?

Aaah, what a good year this year was, catching up with the raw, getting the second part of the anime, going to Japan for the first time and getting some Strange Grief goods! (Although I just saw that there are even more Strange Grief collab and goods available now in Japan, making me want to go there again just to buy them!)

What did you guys think of this arc? As of today, there are only 5 chapters available in the next arc. I am so excited to see what will happen to Cry in the future! Best wishes to Tsukikage-sensei so he can keep writing and gives us awesome and funny misunderstandings so we have another good Strange Grief year!
