Chapter 261: Academy Yearly Competition (4)
But no matter how much Silas’s students complained about their teacher’s statement, they didn’t really blurt it out and just kept it in their mind. They knew that it was useless to talk about this matter anyway.
"This is...?" Silas looked at the young woman beside Dylan.
"This is Nana, my girlfriend," Dylan Black replied.
"Would the Black Family allow you...?" Silas looked at Dylan with some confusion. The Black Family didn’t like it if their family members married people from other families, including commoners. His own father had a lot of troubles when he wanted to marry his mother back then.
This was something that Silas knew because his mother told him about these things.
It was clear that his mother was a bit indignant at how rigid the Black Family was.
"I’m not a genius like you." Dylan looked at Silas blankly. Even though there were some restrictions for the people who were not part of the core family members, but it was different for Dylan. "I’m only a rank 3 magic warrior after all these years and barely able to use our family’s magic inheritance."
"Ah..." Silas scratched the back of his head and nodded sheepishly.
These people who were not very talented would not be fully cultivated by the Black Family. After all, they respected the strong the most and they would never let people who were weaker to take too much of the family’s resources.
In their eyes, these resources should be used by the few people who need it more.
"Wait, you two are going to participate?"
"Yes." Dylan grinned. "This might be my last chance to try my hands against the other students."
"...Haven’t you graduated?"
"I have graduated, but because I graduated when I was 15 years old, I don’t have any teacher who guided me," Dylan replied calmly.
This was the rule in Wansu City.
Since they were no longer that young, they didn’t have anyone to personally guide them anymore. Besides, only the most talented would be allowed to graduate early and then follow a teacher.
As for Dylan’s team member, he only teamed up with Nana.
There was no minimum limit for their team members but the maximum was only 5 people unless they were performing large scale missions that required many people.
"I see." Silas smiled. "Good luck and let’s hope you won’t meet my students."
"Eh, we shall see." Dylan looked thoughtfully at Leon, who was clearly wearing the standard attire of their Black Family. Coupled with their black hair and the black robe that everyone from the Black Family would use, it was easy to see that Leon came from the Black Family.
From the fact that Leon was Silas’s student, Dylan could guess that this person should be Leon Black, the Black Family Patriarch’s son.
After saying a few more words, the two of them left.
Silas’s polite smile also disappeared and he looked at his students. "If you meet him, you have to be careful on the arena."
The three boys looked at Silas in confusion.
"Why?" Leon frowned. He naturally saw the look that Dylan gave to him. From this angle, he could see that Dylan’s eyes were filled with coldness.
This made Leon confused.
He didn’t know Dylan and had never had any interaction with Dylan in the past. Why did Dylan look like he was so full of hatred to him?
"Because some people in the branch family didn’t like the people in the main family," Silas said lightly.
Due to his special circumstances, Silas was able to have some contact with these people from the branch family. He knew very well that some of them were not really living well because of various reasons. Moreover, the resources they could enjoy were very limited.
The main family members could learn various magic spells at will.
But these people had to make a contribution to the family before they could learn lower ranked magic spells.
While there were some magic spells taught in the academy, it was nothing more than rank 1 to at most rank 2 magic spells.
Magic spells of rank 3 and above could only be learned by a limited number of people.
Without his father’s inheritance, Silas knew very well that the Black Family would never allow him to learn those high ranked magic spells.
"But we didn’t mistreat them," Keiran complained.
As the patriarch’s son, Keiran naturally saw how his father treated his people. It could be said that the Green Family’s members were much more harmonious and there was no division of the main family and the branch family. Those who were more talented would be cultivated while those who were not talented enough had to fight hard.
This was their family’s rules.
"Every family is different," Evan said quietly.
Thinking about it, the White Family was also quite similar to the Black Family in this matter because they were divided into the branch family too. There were many people from the branch family who could not enjoy enough resources in the White Family just because of their lineage.
He and his cousin sister and brother were able to enjoy a lot of resources because of their fathers’ position.
Otherwise, it would have been impossible.
"You just have to be careful and don’t need to care about identity when fighting," Aya said quietly. "They’ll not care and if you hold back, they might hurt you instead."
She has experienced how hard it was to live as the branch family member in her previous life. If not because she was insanely talented and her progress was so fast that it made many people unable to catch up, she would not have been able to receive good treatment in the White Family.
So Aya knew very well that the best response from the main family members to these people from the branch family was to go all out.
Because at the very least, this would show them that they respected the other party.
