Chapter 30 - I Want More
"It's been three days now, and they've not made their move." Silas sat on a wood bench outside and stared into the setting sun, his pupils a darker shade of red, "I grew impatient."
"My Lord," Luke who was standing besides him spoke up, lowering his gaze to stare into Silas' head, then he aired his thoughts, "I think that it's best they don't attack for this time."
"I understand, but it's strange." Silas narrowed his eyes. This wasn't a minor issue that he could overlook. There were a lot of factions after the ice stone they stole, but no attacks.
He had expected this place to be overrun by this time, but not a single soul sneaked into the building to steal the arctic core. Silas narrowed his eyes, 'Or am I overthinking all this?'
"My Lord, it's getting late. We should go inside." Luke said, shifting his glance from the set sun and turning to the door. He walked to the door, pushing it open and stepping inside.
Silas lowered his gaze from the sky, then stood to his feet. Over these past few days, he had been living at alert and waiting for them to make a move— maybe he was overreacting.
Silas clicked his tongue, then he walked to the door. He stepped past Luke, watching as Luke locked the door behind them before turning his eyes away, "I'll be taking a rest here."
"Then, I will be heading to my room." Luke yawned, then he turned away from Silas to the door at the far right of the room, and began walking across the room, leaving his Lord.
Silk's stared at Luke's back until Luke vanished into his room.
After releasing a deep sigh, Silas turned away from that door then shifted his glance to the couches in the living room. He approached the one at the middle then sat himself down.
He relaxed the side of his head in his palm, glaring into the ceiling. As he glared into the ceiling, Silas felt his brows twitch. He clicked his tongue, lowering his gaze to his shoulder.
A slender, pale hand relaxed on his shoulder. Silas reached his hand to rub hers, a cold gleam appearing in his eyes as his gaze fell to the floor, "How much have you recovered?"
"We can start operations tomorrow." Ice replied, laying her hand on Silas' hand upon hers, then leaning forward to whisper into his ears, "We've been very busy, haven't we?"
"Heh," Silas scoffed, turning his head to stare at the side of her face before planting a kiss on her cheek, watching her blush, casting her gaze in the opposite direction from his.
——
Far down the road where Silas and the others stayed, a heavy duty truck was speedily approaching. With its tilted glasses and armoured body, it was hard to tell what was in it.
If no one was told, it would be difficult to believe that the truck was carrying uranium, meant to be transported to a local research facility some miles away. Sadly, someone heard.
The truck's tires screeches as it came to a halt. The road had been barricaded with iron spikes and barbed wires. After it stopped, some shadows began approaching from the dark.
"Cargo Intercepted," the driver inside the truck muttered in his radio, watching with an icy gleam in his eyes as they closed in, then he frowned, "Permission to terminate threats?"
"Permission granted." A voice replied from the transmission device, loud and distorted, a safety measure so its owner would be difficult to locate by some sonic-type superhuman.
He reached over the steering wheel to a couple of buttons, then clicked a few. After the buttons were clicked, a red alarm went off, and his eyes snapped to a monitor by the side.
It showed the back of the truck, which he had just opened. Steam poured out as a cold, dark sensation crept out from behind the truck, wrapping around their entire atmosphere.
"Hah... Hah..." a chilly voice followed as a slender figure crawled out of the truck and dropped to the ground. She wore a tight-silver body suit, with a ghost mask over her face.

"I knew that was too conspicuous of a truck carrying something precious." One of the men said, pointing his finger to the woman who crawled out of the truck, "It's abnormal."
"That suit has a lot of sensors built into them." Another, with his small face and large mouth, pointed out. He stood, glaring at the woman, "Why isn't her mouth covered too?"
Hearing him, everyone quickly stood at alert, drawing their guns and aiming them at her. She crawled on all fours, caressing the ground with shaky hands, as if she was blind.
"A defective superhuman?" One of them whispered to the other, clicking his tongue in pity then shifting his glance to the truck, "We just need to get out hands on that uranium."
Hearing that, three out of the eight men that had surrounded the truck nodded before opening fire on the woman. Their bullets tore through her sensors, ripping them to shreds.
Shockingly, not a single one of their bullets hit her vitals, only grazing her clothes and leaving bloody gashes. The men turned to stare into each others eyes, then they shot again.
This time, some bullets ricocheted in the air in a zigzag manner, before turning back to burst through the heads of two men while the other bullets zoomed off into the distant sky.
"I... want..." she moaned, grasping the ground. Suddenly, the woman that crawled out of the truck, didn't look so pitiful to them— she'd become frightening, "...to feel... warmth,"
"Fuck, it's not a defective superhero..." The man with a big mouth shouted, shifting his glance to his trembling companion, "She's under containment! We have to run, while we—"
Before he could finish his words, his head exploded, scattering into bloody pieces that flew across the air. Some splattered all over the womans' body, a drop falling on her face.
She reached to the single drop that touched her skin, smearing it across her face, then her mouth cracked at the edges, revealing serrated rows of teeth hidden behind false flesh.
Seeing this, the men pinned their mouths, threw their guns to the left then scattered in different directions. She darted in the direction of the guns, stunned to find no one in reach.
"I... want... more..." she pleaded, crawling across the ground whilst swinging her hands about violently. Steam leaked out of her broken sensors as she chased after the scared men.
