Chapter 587: Part 2: Negotiation?

Wilderness

The two old men and their Lifeline Beasts faced the three Corrupted Beasts.

Swoosh!

The Giant Brown Eagle spotted the three Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts. It immediately let out a threatening cry.

Kee-Kee!

Seeing the massive figure in the sky, the Purple Snake, the Vine Beast, and the Blood Steel Mosquito felt the crushing pressure of a Tier-9 Corrupted Beast not less.

Hiss!

The Purple Snake hissed loudly. It felt a sudden sense of crisis, glad that it hadn’t made any rash attacks earlier. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The Vine Beast also felt the danger. It was sure that the Giant Eagle beast could take it down; those huge claws could easily capture its long vines and drag it away.

Swoosh!

Instinctively, the Vine Beast moved a few meters backward.

Boom!

The Dark Green Turtle was not silent either. It saw how the Giant Brown Eagle was threatening the other beasts.

The Dark Green Turtle stomped on the ground. Its heavy legs immediately created a crack in the earth. The fissure started to spread, reaching toward the Blood Steel Mosquito.

Swoosh!

The Blood Steel Mosquito flapped its wings, its compound eyes flashing with fear. It noticed the Dark Green Turtle staring right at it. The mosquito quickly retreated.

In the blink of an eye, the Corrupted Beasts were forced to take a step back.

The two old men looked at each other, satisfied. They believed the negotiation would now be smooth.

The tall old man said, "I’m glad that all three of you are here. I don’t know why you beasts launched a beast invasion on our city. Many of our Beast Tamers died."

"Not only were our buildings destroyed, but the economic losses were huge. On the other hand, the three of you were doing nothing," he added in a cold tone.

The Tier-8 Vine Beast, Purple Snake, and Blood Steel Mosquito were angry, but they had learned the truth too late. It had not been their plan at all.

If the three of them had wanted to attack, they would have attacked the city earlier. But they hadn’t, because they didn’t know about the invasion.

Even the Purple Snake only found out later. Only then did it wake the other two Corrupted Beasts. The Blood Steel Mosquito and Vine Beast turned toward the Purple Snake.

They had realized a few things after waking up: the ordinary purple snakes were the first to attack the city. They were the ones who started it. Both the Vine Beast and Blood Steel Mosquito knew why.

Hiss!

The Tier-8 Purple Snake was angry. If it didn’t act now, it might be at a disadvantage later. Clearly, the beast invasion had been started by its kin.

Meanwhile

City Governor Black’s gaze fell on the monstrous bird in the sky. It was even larger than the Tier-8 Sky Bird Lifeline Beast.

Not only that, he saw a massive green turtle that resembled a giant sharp tree. The spikes on the turtle’s back were clear to everyone.

Everyone must have been thinking it was some kind of sharp tree, but it clearly was not.

Governors Chloe and Carl were watching the two Lifeline Beasts as well.

On the other hand, Governors Lucian and Serena were standing in mid-air. They were taken aback by the sudden change in the situation.

From the sheer size of the two Lifeline Beasts, they understood that the two old men must be Tier-9 Beast Tamers from the Human Alliance.

Since both the Lords were here, they couldn’t leave now. It was all the more important to watch. Who knew? Anything could happen right now.

Wilderness

"We won’t attack again," the Purple Snake said.

It was heard by the Vine Beast and the Blood Steel Mosquito. They said nothing, but clearly wanted the responsibility to be taken up by the Purple Snake.

Kee-Kee!

The Giant Brown Eagle and Dark Green Turtle understood the Purple Snake’s words. They communicated with their two Beast Tamers.

The tall old man and the slightly obese old man exchanged looks of understanding. Both of them were glad that the Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts were not in the mood to attack.

But they were not satisfied. They needed more. The city had been attacked; there was a loss of lives and infrastructure. The public wouldn’t be satisfied if they didn’t get any compensation.

"You made a good choice not to attack us. But it is not enough. We need compensation," the tall old man said.

"Brother, you have to demand more," the slightly obese man added.

Their conversation was heard by the Corrupted Beasts. The Purple Snake was angry. It didn’t know what to do.

The Vine Beast and the Blood Steel Mosquito felt they were at a disadvantage. They couldn’t fight against two Tier-9 Beast Tamers and their Lifeline Beasts.

The Purple Snake was getting impatient, but the eyes of the two Tier-9 Lifeline Beasts were fixed on it.

"Maybe we should reduce our activities," the Vine Beast suggested.

"Yes, we can lay low for a while as compensation," the Blood Steel Mosquito said.

Hearing that, the Purple Snake’s vertical eyes flickered. It became even angrier. The populations of the Vine Beasts and Blood Steel Mosquitos were small, so they could easily offer ideas like this.

But what about the Purple Snake? It knew the reason why the purple snakes attacked the city this time.

While it was sleeping, the number of purple snakes had grown beyond imagination, leading to starvation. They had attacked the Beast Tamers to consume them as food.

It didn’t take long for them to attack the whole city, dragging the Vine Beasts and Blood Steel Mosquitos into the conflict.

The Purple Snake made a decision. Its massive head looked toward the two Tier-9 Beast Tamers.

"The purple snakes will lay low for a few months. You human Beast Tamers can do your missions in the deeper parts of the wilderness," the Purple Snake said.

The Vine Beast and Blood Steel Mosquito heard it and relaxed significantly.

They had been worried the Purple Snake wouldn’t give in, because the food resources needed by the purple snakes were enormous.

If they didn’t do something about it, they would eventually eat each other.
