STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 681: Team No.18!
Head Office
Jeremy reached the office. He had come without permission, so he asked for permission to enter.
Buzz!
He received a message a few seconds later. He read it and walked into the room.
He saw Head Harold seated behind the desk. Upon seeing Jeremy, Harold showed a surprised expression. Jeremy knew the Head saw through his strength.
"You have become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer," Harold uttered in surprise.
Harold’s heart was in turmoil, but at the same time, he was excited. He had been receiving so much bad news recently, but the news of Jeremy’s breakthrough brought a smile to his face.
He knew the genius suggested by his friend was special, which was why he had applied a little pressure.
The kid had withstood it and became a Tier-3 Beast Tamer in this desperate situation.
Harold thought the boy might have encountered a fortuitous chance; otherwise, it would not have been possible to skip a whole rank. He knew it was the kid’s secret, so he didn’t pry into the details.
He knew many Beast Tamers had their chances. Even the Beast Tamers in the Human Alliance had their own secrets. Otherwise, it wasn’t easy to become a Tier-9 Beast Tamer. Even he had his own chances during his prime.
He then collected his thoughts and said, "It’s good that you have become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer. Otherwise, considering the current situation of the organization, I was planning to send you back."
Hearing that, Jeremy was not surprised. That was why he had taken risks in the wilderness to break through, and his efforts had paid off well.
He had stumbled across an unknown piece of treasure and used it to become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer.
Jeremy smiled and asked, "Head, you promised to add me to one of the teams."
Harold nodded and said, "I’ll call Melinda right away."
After saying that, he summoned Melinda. His mood became lighter.
He had been worried about who to ask for this; the City Governor’s task was mandatory, and someone had to take up the mission. So, he decided to add Jeremy Night to Melinda’s team and ask her to take the lead.
Shortly Afterward
Melinda came to the room. She was shocked upon learning Jeremy Night’s current strength.
The last time she saw him, he was Rank 8. Now he has reached Tier-3. She could only attribute it to some fortuitous encounter. She then sat down.
Jeremy smiled inwardly. He knew his progress had shocked them, but since none of them asked for the reason, he was glad.
Harold nodded upon seeing Melinda. "Melinda, this kid broke through. He will be on your team now," Harold said.
Melinda was not surprised; she had known about the addition before. However, she was worried about her team.
Harold saw through her thoughts and said, "I’m expecting some people to leave after the commotion. It’s a good time to check who is loyal and who is not. Both of you will take team members to do the special mission assigned by the City Governor."
"What?" Melinda was dumbfounded. She didn’t expect the Head to ask her to do this mission. She and her team members had been avoiding it.
Harold said, "Someone has to do it. Take members with you who are willing to come. There is no need to risk your life. If you find any information about the illegal hideout, just inform the officials. You guys don’t have to raid the place."
He understood the difficulties and knew no one wanted the mission, but he had no other choice. On the other hand, Jeremy Night was happy. Everything was going according to his plan. He wanted to do this mission.
Melinda took a deep breath before agreeing. They spoke for a few more minutes before leaving the room.
In the Corridor
Jeremy and Melinda walked along the corridor.
"I didn’t expect you to reach this level so fast. But it’s good that you have this strength. Otherwise, you would be unnecessarily targeted," Melinda said.
"Thank you, Senior Sister, for your kind words," Jeremy replied with a smile. He then thought of the mission and asked, "When should we leave?"
"Sigh!" Melinda exhaled. "It’s a dangerous mission. If we make one mistake, our fate will turn for the worse."
"Sister, you have forgotten something. If illegal organizations wanted to eliminate us, they wouldn’t need this mission as an excuse," Jeremy said.
"This?" Melinda was stunned. Then, her eyes flashed with understanding.
She looked toward Jeremy and said, "You are right. We have already forged enmity with the Skull Gang. That won’t change."
"Besides, many of our senior sisters and brothers have died at the hands of other illegal organizations."
"They won’t stop in the future. So, this mission is a must. I have decided to inflict some damage on them through this mission," She added.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night was taken aback. His advice had been casual, but she had completely changed her mindset from defensive to offensive. It’s a good thing, he thought.
"When should we leave for the mission?" Jeremy asked.
"I believe Head Harold has already registered our names. Because of the demise of many members, the team numbers have changed. Welcome to the 18th Team. You are part of my 18th Team now," Melinda said with a smile.
Jeremy thanked her again. After reaching the end of the corridor, they parted ways.
Jeremy went back to his room. He figured the news about his breakthrough and his team assignment would become public soon.
One hour later, the news about the newcomer’s breakthrough became official. Not only that, but he was also added to the 18th Team directly under Melinda’s leadership.
The news caused shockwaves, especially to those who had been following the newcomer.
Because of the recent turmoil, they had forgotten about him, and they certainly didn’t expect him to become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer so quickly.
Even the staff were shocked. They didn’t know when this had happened. The newcomer had achieved this silently, right under their noses.
