STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 697: Team mission? No way
Garden
Jeremy continues to watch the news.
Ten minutes later,
After confirming that everything was normal, he stopped watching the news and put away the device.
He then thought of his Father, Mother, and his friends. Then he recalled Team Leader Gisela and the others.
He wondered what Captain Sinag and Ada were doing right now. He had come here to get more resources and grow stronger.
His progress doesn’t disappoint him. He is a Tier-3 Beast Tamer, but he knows it was largely due to fortuitous encounters.
If not for the finger-sized, arrow-headed rock, he wouldn’t have had such a big breakthrough. The arrow-headed rock was still a mystery to him.
He doubts whether he could come across a similar object again. Fortunately, he didn’t give up his daily practice.
He believes the next mid-stage breakthrough is not far away. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
After spending some time alone in the garden, he collected his thoughts and walked back to the building.
A few minutes later,
He returned to his room and began to rest.
...
Meanwhile
Leader Melinda is thinking about her next team mission. Like others, she has to complete missions to get more resources.
She can do solo missions, but the dangers involved in solo missions are high. If she goes with her team, the rate of survivability is higher.
Besides, she doesn’t mind sharing the rewards with the members. If they can do many more missions, she will get the needed resources in the end.
Yet, she was troubled by new problems.
Jeremy Night has joined the team. This time it was official, but none of the members liked him.
Even the two Tier-5 Beast Tamers didn’t like the newcomer. She didn’t know what to do.
If the two Tier-5 Beast Tamers were to change their minds, then she could convince the other team members. It would become easier for her to conduct team missions then.
So, she decided to speak with the two Tier-5 Beast Tamers. She contacted them and expressed her views. Jeremy Night was part of their team now.
They can’t ignore him. If Head Harold finds out, he will be disappointed. The two Tier-5 Beast Tamers didn’t have any particular enmity toward the newcomer.
In fear of Head Harold, they agreed to work together in the end. Melinda was happy. She then contacted the other members one by one.
The Tier-4 Beast Tamers didn’t have problems either. All four of them agreed to do the missions. They were not stupid.
Only by completing missions successfully can they compete with other teams going forward.
The more successful the Beast Taming Team is, the more fame and resources they will get.
More than that, they will be recognized by other Beast Taming forces.
They could get special missions from the City Office. There are perks for being the best Beast Taming Team in the organization.
Melinda then convinced Frey and Theo as well. Since everyone else agreed to work as a team, and they were just Tier-3 Beast Tamers, they had no choice. They too agreed.
Melinda was happy. After the special mission, she was worried that it could take time to convince the others.
But she didn’t expect the others to be so wary of Head Harold and the other teams. They wanted the resources to grow as well.
So, they didn’t mind the presence of the newcomer on the team.
...
Room
The next morning,
Jeremy was in his room. He received a call from the Team Leader. When he answered the call, he learned that Team Leader Melinda had called for a team meeting.
He was taken aback. He had thought they would take some time off after the special mission, but he didn’t expect them to be ready for another mission so soon.
He agreed to come and ended the call.
One hour later,
He left the room and went to the lobby for the team meeting. When he arrived at the lobby, he saw the members in the sitting area.
He was early. A few other members were yet to arrive. He spotted Freya and Theo. He walked up to the seat next to them.
They noticed his presence as well, but they didn’t say anything. Jeremy sat down and quietly waited for the others to arrive.
Not long after, the remaining Tier-4 Beast Tamers arrived. Now it was time for Team Leader Melinda and the other two Beast Tamers to come.
Jeremy casually looked around and saw that the Tier-4 Beast Tamers were talking to each other. Theo and Freya were discussing something.
He was all alone. He didn’t know the purpose of the meeting. If it was about a team mission, he didn’t want to do it.
If he does the team mission, it will become harder for him to protect his secrets. Nobody knows about his Lifeline beast.
Even he himself doesn’t know when the Lifeline beast egg will hatch. So, he certainly cannot participate in any team activities.
He knows that in team missions, it is important to share each other’s abilities, including the Lifeline beast, so that everyone can cooperate during the mission.
Suddenly, he stood up and left the place.
The four Tier-4 Beast Tamers, Frey, and Theo were stunned. They didn’t know why Jeremy Night left all of a sudden.
But they didn’t take it seriously.
At the same time, Jeremy walked toward the exit. He left the building and went outside toward the cab driver.
He approached the driver and told him to drop him at the Beast Taming Association.
The driver agreed.
A few minutes later,
The flying car moved toward the Beast Taming Association in the sky. Jeremy was seated in the back seat.
He understood that the team meeting could be about a mission. Otherwise, Team Leader Melinda wouldn’t have asked everyone to gather.
He had thought of excuses, but the best excuse would be a mission from the Beast Taming Association itself.
As a Beast Tamer, he can perform missions issued by the Association. If he selects one of those missions, they won’t be able to say anything.
Even Head Harold won’t force him to do the team mission then.
"Phew!"
He heaved a sigh of relief. If his unknown beast egg had hatched, he wouldn’t be in this difficult spot. He is looking forward to the day when he can fight alongside his Lifeline beast.
