STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 709: Killing the coward and plundering the armory
Wilderness
Both sides looked at each other, but neither made a move. The senior was weighing the pros and cons.
If there were only one Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beast, he would have used the help of his lifeline beast to deal with it.
As the seconds passed, the expression of the senior turned ugly. In the end, he prioritized his own safety.
He didn’t want to die for this single mission. The higher-ups and the clients wouldn’t say anything once they learned about the Tsetse Fly beast group from the unexplored area.
He knew fly beasts were common in the unexplored area; to encounter them here was truly a misfortune.
The senior took a deep breath before stating, "Retreat!"
Hearing that, the members behind him sighed in relief. They, too, lacked the confidence to confront the beast group.
Swoosh!
The next second, the senior led the team back toward the city.
The fly beast group was surprised, but the two Tier-6 fly beasts understood the situation. The humans had few members.
They couldn’t face them with their current strength, and now that the humans had decided to leave, they might return with more powerful people.
The two Tier-6 Tsetse fly beasts communicated with each other. Their whereabouts were exposed now; it was not safe for them to stay here.
If someone powerful from the human side came, they could face annihilation.
The two Tier-6 beasts agreed to leave, though the one with the injured eye was still angry.
The main culprit was still hiding in the underground hideout. They had wanted to kill him, but the human prey was smart. There was no possibility of that human prey coming outside.
However, the beast had recorded the scent of the human prey. If they ever came across each other again, the human prey would not be able to escape their clutches.
Shortly afterward, the Tsetse fly insect beast group left the area, heading back toward the unexplored area. Though they were unwilling, they had already tasted the blood of enough Human Beast Tamers.
...
Inside
Jeremy Night was watching everything. He had thought a big confrontation was going to happen and didn’t expect the human team to leave.
He, too, understood that it wasn’t easy to confront the whole group. If their lifeline beasts were injured, they would become crippled. It was too risky.
Fortunately, it gave him a chance to escape. He figured it wouldn’t be long before the Darkshade side returned with reinforcements.
If he encountered them, his chances of leaving alive would be slim.
He made a decision, gripping the katana blade in his hand. After a moment’s thought, he unsheathed the blade and grasped the handgun in his right hand.
He stood up and located where the Tier-6 Beast Tamer was staying. The man had also noticed the earlier commotion outside but hadn’t dared to go out and check.
Jeremy reached the open door and walked out, coating his bullets with starlight power.
He moved slowly toward the office. He knew the Tier-6 Beast Tamer would be alert, especially with the help of a lifeline beast. He needed to kill him before the man could react.
Swoosh!
He arrived in front of the office in a flash. He used his "second eye" ability; the X-ray vision made everything visible. He saw the middle-aged man sitting behind the desk with his eyes closed.
The incident had scared him so much that he looked terrified. Jeremy didn’t know how this man had ended up as the leader of the team.
He didn’t wait. He walked into the room, his gaze locked onto the middle-aged man, Mike.
Mike’s lifeline beast alerted him. Sensing another presence, he opened his eyes and saw a handgun pointing at him.
A hint of anger flashed in his eyes, a Tier-3 Beast Tamer from nowhere was trying to harm him?
Bang!
Before he could say a word, a white-colored bullet was shot at him. His expression changed drastically. He tried to dodge, but the bullet was too fast.
Pfff!
The white bullet pierced his forehead in a flash. Mike was terrified, not even realizing what had happened until his last breath.
The bullet exited the back of his skull before striking the wall behind him.
Jeremy Night sighed in relief. He didn’t want to leave any clues behind. More importantly, he hated this person.
Mike had sacrificed his whole team while he hid here. Though the illegal members deserved to die, Jeremy despised the Tier-6 Beast Tamer’s methods.
Next, he acted quickly. Reinforcements would arrive soon, and he had to leave using this opportunity. But before that, he decided to collect resources. He used his second eye ability to scan the place.
His gaze fell on a drawer. He went to the desk and opened it, finding files inside. He collected them into his storage ring.
He didn’t find any cameras; the hideout was purely a storage facility used for logistics, so he wasn’t surprised by the weak security.
He walked out and scanned the rest of the hideout. He quickly found a small armory filled with battle suits and weapons, including both cold weapons and firearms.
He was excited to see different grades of suits and weapons, all of them brand new. Jeremy immediately collected everything into his storage ring. He wasn’t going to let them rot here.
After that, he continued scanning. He didn’t find anything useful other than the deep-frozen corpses of beasts. Even if he took them, he didn’t know what to do with them or who would buy them.
He shook his head and left, heading for the hatch. He opened it and returned to the surface. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Phew!"
He heaved a sigh of relief, closed the hatch, and left the area. He was going to enter the city from a different direction.
He quickly vacated the current area. It didn’t take long for him to reach the common path used by the beast tamers.
He came across other Beast Tamers on the path. Everyone was returning to the city. He joined them.
