Strongest Boyfriend In The Apocalypse: Every Girl Depends On Me!-Chapter 25: Helen’s Story
There were many more if them, and in total, Ethan had gotten up to six Loving Girlfriends!
This wasn’t looking like an accomplishment for him anymore. He was already seeing it as a reward directly gifted from the system to him.
But he would dare not to own it!
It finally pushed him to check Anna’s Stat with confidence, and when he did.
[Anna Voss.]
[Love: 90%.]
[Loyalty: 99%.]
And this was when Ethan went crazy.
’What the...’
’How?’
First of all, this stat was just to crazy to take all of a sudden. And secondly, how was he supposed to know of she was a Loyalty or Loving girlfriends.
There could be only one way, and that was to check when she crossed 50% with both sides, just like how he had done it with the other girls’ stats.
[The latest increase of the Love stat happened eight minutes, thirty three seconds ago.]
[The latest increase of the Loyalty stat happened eight minutes, thirty three seconds ago.]
[It is recorded that this boost happened the same time, and therefore, Anna Voss as been judged as a Loving Loyalty Girlfriend.]
"Err???"
Ethan stared in confusion, trying to understand what that could mean.
"What does that mean?"
He had to ask.
[A Loving Loyalty Girlfriend is simply a girlfriend who manifests the characters and behaviours of both a Loving and a Loyalty Girlfriend. At this case, such a girlfriend is expected to be the most effective figure, however, this case is very rare.]
[Cheers yourself up... You just hit the jackpot!]
Ethan couldn’t help the smile that swept his face, understanding what that meant. The most difficult fish had finally been caught, and it had been caught right in the neck.
How more happy can he be?
He could say that he was one of the happiest figures inside this already crashing world at the moment!
He turned to give her a stare...
Anna was already walking next to him, folding her arms inside her hood as she felt cold.
She noticed his stare and tasked her head up a bit...
"What?"
Ethan quickly withdrew his face, letting out a chuckle.
"What, Ethan?" Anna asked again.
She soon walked over and reached him, her face sharp and demanding all of a sudden.
"Nothing, Anna... Really," Ethan turned to her and said. "I just wanted to see if you are fine."
"Do I look fine?" She then asked.
And this was when Ethan was left on hold. It wasn’t as if he didn’t know what to respond, but he didn’t know if the response would be favoring him or not.
He hesitate, gave her another check, and then nodded.
"You are fine..."
When her face already seemed like it was turning pale, he then followed up with another line.
"Because you are with me."
And that... That gave him a patch up, as she suddenly smiled and quickly held his hand as they walked.
"I regret every decision I made about Lance... I feel so terrible for my right now," Anna began.
Ethan only listened, because of course he had nothing to say about that.
"Ethan..." Anna called.
"Yeah?"
"I regret not giving your the response you sought for. I regret it with all my heart."
"I’m sorry..."
That was sthe part that reached him, hitting through the bones.
But Ethan didn’t just know how to react, because he already felt like the feeling would never be the same as the one he had when he first asked her out, would it?
At that point when he had finally given up...
Even though he was still trying to get her for himself after the disaster, he didn’t know if he’d still feel the same.
But yet, he had still gotten her anyway, and this time, it was completely.
The system had revealed it in the "massive," showing that she’d be a very crucial figure.
"It’s fine, Anna. It’s alright," Ethan let out a slight smile and said.
She knew he wasn’t actually settled with it, but she was hoping he does, because at this point, she was completely captivated.
And Ethan knew.
90% Love was already too crazy, and such raye of Love can’t fade easily.
They were still walking on the silent road when Ethan soon remembered that he never checked Nina’s girlfriend stats.
At once, he immediately entered the interface.
[Nina Ortega.]
[Love: 12%.]
[Loyalty: 34%.]
Ethan flinched in shock, confused.
"If none of Nina’s didn’t cross 50%, then how did I complete the mission?"
It was too unclear that he had to ask, knowing that the system urged him to save every girl in New Land University before he could complete the Core Mission.
Now seeing this he knew that there might be something completely wrong somewhere.
But then, when he asked the system...
[Is Nina from in New Land University?]
That was the question that came after his own question, and Ethan’s jaw dropped.
This wasn’t because the system was right, but it was because even after what had happened, Nina was still appearing to be a tough person to break.
The fact that Ethan had always tried to save Nina when she was in trouble for the sake of his d**k... He had always thought that she was one of the ladies he had to keep alive, but after realising she was not... well...
He wouldn’t say he regretted every action he had taken.
Nina had contributed a lot to the group so far, not letting the death of her brother in their hands result in causing chaos between them.
To Ethan, she deserved everything he had done to save her from Lance, and he regarded her completely as one of the group, even though she wasn’t entirely his girlfriend yet.
However, he was still amazed that none of her girlfriend stats had reached up to 51% after all that had happened in the gymnasium.
But Ethan wasn’t worried at all...
At this point, he already believed that he could achieve anything with the system, and that was what he stood on from now on.
No fears...

At the other side of the walking group, Helen and Mella were walking alongside each other as they conversed.
Right from campus, they had been getting along with each other, and after the partnership at the Physical Health Centre, they had gotten even closer.
"I don’t even know why we are heading west. It doesn’t feel right to me," Helen said.
Mella stared confusedly. She appeared confused by what Helen had just said.
"Atlanta is the only place we know. That’s where our families are. We can’t go anywhere else from there," Mella replied.
"Or are your families not in Atlanta?" Mella added.
Helen smirked and went silent for a moment. She hesitated for a while before responding.
"Well, my family doesn’t need me anymore."
Mella had her brows furrowed in shock.
"What? What is that supposed to mean?" Mella asked.
Helen, seeing that Mella wanted to understand her, shrugged and went ahead to explain.
"Umm, there was this time when we went on vacation. I, my mom, and my dad... my only brother too. We were longing for it for quite a while, and my dad finally agreed to take us to the Amicalola Falls."
"My brother Jake and I were so happy to be there. We knew it was going to be a very unforgettable day.
When we got there, everything was going well and fine. We had a long watch on the falls and even took pictures."
Helen stopped, leaving Mella in suspense, and she had to continue when Mella furrowed her brows with a glare.
"Then... at a point, Jake and I had a little quarrel, and he lost it. He got tensed at a point, and the... the next thing that came was a punch to my face.
I lost it at that moment as well, and..."
Helen paused again, appearing like she was becoming more and more emotional. At a point, one could tell...
"He was standing at the edge of a cliff, and I... I didn’t realise myself at that point."
She sobbed.
"I didn’t know when I pushed him, and he fell from over twelve feet to the ground. He was unconscious for days, and I couldn’t forgive myself for it. My parents couldn’t forgive me too... and they didn’t object to my decision to leave home."
"You mean you left your family?" Mella asked.
Helen looked at her and nodded.
"I had to... but I hope my brother survives. I really do. But I can’t go back there. What I did is going to keep haunting me forever," Helen said.
"What if your brother woke up and is fine and well? Did you ever consider that?" Mella had to ask.
This question came like an overwhelming weight, one that she didn’t feel like answering yet still wanted to let out at the same time. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"The... the doctor said that the chance of him making it was pretty low, and if he eventually does, he would be paralysed...
for the rest of his life."
Mella flinched.
It was at this point that she understood.
This wasn’t only tragic; it was an almost irremovable incident. One that could have destroyed the family, but she still felt it could be fixed.
Perhaps it might not have gone as the doctor had said, right?
Maybe.
Maybe fortune might have smiled on him... Maybe there could still be some hope to cling on to.
