Chapter 596: Leaving The Blood Sect For The First Time

Han Yu paid the disciples front.

Ten Blood Flood Pills each.

They were more than enthusiastic to agree.

Back at the cave, Han Yu took out several formation plates he had been working on during his puppet studies. They were not particularly powerful, but they were enough to reinforce the door and walls.

He placed a sealing formation on the inside, a secondary reinforcement array on the stone frame, a perception barrier around the alcove where Xuan Qing sat, and a concealed alarm formation in the outer corridor.

If anyone tried to break in, he would sense it instantly through the connection to a formation plate he would hold. He then sealed the cave door from the outside. It was not impossible to break, but it would require time and obvious effort.

Unless an elder did it personally, it would be very diffcult.

Inside, he placed four large crates of rations. Enough food for three months.

Xuan Qing stood silently at his side, awaiting instructions. She was motionless but obedient. Her blank doll-like face made his chest ache, but he hardened his heart.

Meng Jueyan sat in the corner, eyes lowered but alert. She looked healthier than before. Her cheeks had more color. Her breathing no longer sounded raspy. She still limped, but the limp was softer.

Han Yu looked at them both.

"I will be gone for some time," he said firmly. "Do not open the door for anyone." Not that they could anyways.

Xuan Qing nodded immediately.

Meng Jueyan hesitated, then nodded as well.

Han Yu continued, "There is enough food. Enough water. Enough herbs for basic pain relief in case either of you get sick. Do not leave this cave. Do not respond to knocks. Ignore voices. If someone tries to force the door, stay in the inner room."

Meng Jueyan’s voice was steady as she said, "As my master commands."

Han Yu felt a tightness in his throat but said nothing.

This was all he could do.

He had no choice but to leave them here. Bringing them along would expose them to even greater danger. He could protect them better with these precautions than by taking them into unknown territory.

Finally, he turned around and looked at the sealed door.

He would leave at dawn.

Whatever trap Zhao Liumen intended, Han Yu would step into it with open eyes. Because somewhere in this cursed sect, his remaining friends might still be alive. And Han Yu would not allow himself to die before he found them.

He clenched his fists, his expression cold and sharp.

"Just try," he whispered to the empty air. "Try to kill me."

It would not be easy.

Not for Zhao Liumen. Not for the Fatui Clan. Not for anyone in this blood-soaked land.

Han Yu walked into the night to prepare for departure.

Tomorrow, everything would begin.

Morning in the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect was always dark.

Even when the sun rose, the sky above the sect was tinted with a faint crimson, as if the world itself bled in silence.

Han Yu stepped toward the Eastern Gate with brisk, cold steps. He maintained Ju Fan’s perpetual scowl, his shoulders slightly hunched, his stride sharp and irritable. The guards standing near the gate barely glanced at him; his identity token had already been marked last night for exit permission.

A lone messenger disciple waited near the gate arch, tapping his foot impatiently. When he saw "Ju Fan," he straightened and offered a shallow nod.

"Outer Court Disciple Ju Fan," he said. "These are the supplies assigned for your mission."

He handed Han Yu a tightly bound low grade storage pouch, followed by two documents.

Han Yu accepted them silently. The messenger continued with a rehearsed tone.

"One thousand low grade spirit stones. One hundred mid grade spirit stones. Three hundred Moon Blood Crystals. Enough to cover travel supplies, emergencies, and payment for lodgings during mission execution."

Han Yu already expected such supplies. It was standard provision for long-range sect missions.

But the documents... those were more concerning.

The first was a hand-written booklet. The ink was still fresh, slightly uneven, revealing that it had been prepared very recently. That only made Han Yu more suspicious.

’Why the rush?’

The second was a sealed letter, wrapped in a dense blood-red talisman. The seal shimmered gently, warning any onlooker that breaking it without permission would trigger disciplinary punishment.

The messenger disciple pointed at it.

"The booklet contains a brief introduction to the Fatui Clan, their specifics, and the directions to their location. As for the sealed letter, you are to deliver it directly to the Patriarch or, if unavailable, the Alchemy Master of the clan."

He leaned closer and lowered his voice slightly.

"Do not open it. That is an order from the sect administration. Violators are punished."

Han Yu offered a simple nod.

"I understand."

There was nothing more to say.

The messenger bowed lightly and returned toward the inner gate, leaving Han Yu to step past the barrier.

He walked through the Eastern Gate with his composure intact. The guards gave him one last scan, then waved him through.

The moment he was outside the sect walls, he kept walking.

He walked through the outer region for nearly a kilometer, passing the tall watchtowers where puppet sentries observed the land, and past the perimeter where crimson banners fluttered in the morning wind.

He did not stop. He behaved exactly like an obedient disciple performing a normal mission.

Only when an hour had passed, and the oppressive sense of being observed had faded, did Han Yu finally stop under the shade of an old blackscale pine.

He took out the booklet.

He flipped through the first couple of pages with caution, his spirit sense lightly inspecting for hidden formations or curses. There were none. Only paper and ink. It was best to be careful. There was no telling of Zhao Liumen had done something to it after all.

The first section described the Fatui Clan.
