Chapter 612: Making A Statement

One of the bandits stuttered out, voice cracking, "Why is a disciple of the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect attacking us so suddenly.?

His arms trembled as he lowered his sword and attempted a submissive bow, trying desperately to appease the blood sect disciple.

The other bandit leader, the one at the late stage of Qi Refining, followed along and bowed deeply.

"Please! Spare us! We have nothing against the Divine Blood Sect!"

They pleaded for mercy, explaining that they were only trying to survive. They said they had no quarrel with the great sect.

"Yes! We’re willing to leave! We’ll give everything we have to honored Sir!"

Han Yu looked at them with a flat gaze.

Then he spoke, and his voice carried a frosty edge that made the driver’s spine lock with fear.

"You all are nothing but a cold sore to me and I’m already in a foul mood." Han Yu stated. "Killing you all is was simply a way to relieve my stress."

Every bandit froze again.

That explanation shook them more than his earlier violence. It was too casual. Too heartless. And it was exactly what a Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood disciple would say.

The driver’s face went pale.

’If someone like this was irritated, what would happen if he became amused? Or worse, bored?’ His mind raced in panic.

He wondered what would happen if him and the person inside the carriage become the next outlet for that stress?

The thought almost made him faint.

Han Yu did not give the bandits long to think. In the next heartbeat he moved.

His halberd sliced clean through the torso of one bandit, leaving both halves of the man tumbling apart like sacks of meat. Blood gushed onto the dirt in a wide pool. Another bandit tried to run.

He managed two steps before Han Yu appeared behind him with silent speed. The butt of the halberd slammed down between his shoulders, snapping his spine like dry twigs.

Another bandit screamed and tried to stab Han Yu from behind. Han Yu tilted his head slightly to the side and let the blade pass through empty air. His elbow shot backward and crushed the man’s jaw, breaking bone and teeth.

Before the bandit could fall, Han Yu twisted the halberd and impaled him through the abdomen, lifting him briefly off the ground before discarding him like a piece of refuse.

The bandits panicked.

"SPARE US! PLEASE SPARE US!"

Some dropped to their knees and begged.

"RUN! He’s a Monster!"

Others tried to run deeper into the forest.

"AHHHHHHH!"

A few simply screamed incoherently, their minds broken by the sight of their comrades being massacred so casually.

Han Yu pursued the ones who fled.

"Not so fast..."

One man sprinted toward the trees at full speed. Han Yu’s halberd flew like a spear, rotating once before piercing straight through the runner’s back and exiting through his chest. The man collapsed with a choked gurgle.

Another tried to hide behind a boulder, but Han Yu reached him in two steps and crushed his skull underfoot.

KACHA

The sound was sickening, a wet crack followed by silence.

The driver watched with wide eyes, horror twisting his expression. Sweat poured down his face. His body trembled uncontrollably. He did not dare move, speak, or even breathe loudly.

Inside the carriage, the hidden passenger was just as frozen. Han Yu could feel their emotions stirring behind the spirit sense barrier. The fear emanating from that direction was intense.

Han Yu could feel a lot of Fear energy coming from them... even more than the bandits.

Whoever that person was, they were clearly realizing that they were now at the mercy of a man whose reputation was that of a monster in human skin.

Han Yu returned to the remaining bandits and finished them just as swiftly. One had tried to crawl away, leaving a trail of blood. Han Yu stepped on the man’s leg, snapping the bones cleanly. The bandit screamed, only for his head to be taken off a second later.

The mid stage Qi Refining bandit tried to form a qi technique, but Han Yu’s halberd flashed and cut him at the waist. The top half toppled forward while the lower half collapsed in the opposite direction.

The late stage bandit leader was the last. He tried to kneel. He tried to beg. He tried to offer valuables he clearly did not have.

Han Yu gave no response. The halberd descended and split the man diagonally from shoulder to hip.

Silence fell across the forest path.

The only sounds were the panicked breaths of the horses and the faint trembling of the driver’s knees. Blood pooled everywhere. The metallic scent spread through the air.

Han Yu stood among the corpses, his halberd dripping red.

The driver swallowed audibly, bent forward, and knelt.

"I thank the saviour! The Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect is Eternal!" He thanked Han Yu in a trembling voice.

He offered gratitude, respect, and promised that the Qing Clan would reward him for saving them. The words were desperate and shaky, a clear attempt to ensure their own survival now that this demon-like cultivator stood before them.

Han Yu did not answer immediately.

He lifted his gaze.

The carriage shook slightly.

The door of the carriage creaked open with slow reluctance, as though whoever was behind it feared even the air beyond its frame.

Han Yu waited, halberd still stained with blood and his expression locked in Ju Fan’s cold detachment. The driver held his breath, hoping that his little miss would not collapse from fear the moment she stepped out.

A slight figure finally emerged.

’A girl?’ Han Yu nearly broke character for a moment.

His brows twitched in genuine surprise before he reinforced the icy mask he had cultivated as Ju Fan.

The girl looked no more than thirteen or fourteen. She wore silk robes that were dirtied from the shaking inside the carriage, and her hair was tied in a simple ribbon that had nearly come undone. Her small hands were gripping the doorframe tightly to steady herself.
