Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time-Chapter 660: A Deadly Fight
The ram was fighting a Frost Wing Wyvern like it had gone insane. It leaped impossibly high, sprinted across vertical surfaces as though the mountains were solid ground, and slammed its rock coated horns into the Wyvern's sides with suicidal ferocity.
The Wyvern roared in frustration.
The ram answered with a booming snort and launched itself again, leaving craters in the mountainside wherever it pushed off.
Han Yu watched in disbelief.
"That ram is completely insane."
He had seen fierce beasts before.
He had seen rams so aggressive that they would fling themselves off cliffs rather than surrender territory. But this one went beyond insanity. This one behaved like it had declared an eternal blood feud against the Wyvern and would fight until its last breath.
Han Yu watched the clash in fascination.
The Wyvern swiped a wing outward. The ram dodged and hammered its horns into the beast's ribs. The Wyvern's scales rippled. The ram rebounded, skidding across the rock before springing off the wall and charging again.
It was an absurd fight, but the longer Han Yu watched, the clearer it became.
This was not a battle between two equal opponents.
The Wyvern was far stronger.
The ram, despite its speed and aggression, was slowly weakening. Its horns were tough, but not tougher than the Wyvern's hide. Its movements began to slow. Its legs trembled every time it steadied itself.
Han Yu narrowed his eyes.
"At this rate the Wyvern will kill it in minutes."
The Wyvern opened its jaws wide.
A glacial mist gathered in its throat.
Han Yu's expression shifted.
"That is a Frost Breath attack."
Even from this distance he could feel the chill radiating from the gathering energy. If released, it would coat the entire valley floor in ice.
The ram seemed to sense it too. It stomped its forelegs into the ground, lowered its head, and scraped its hooves back aggressively.
"Is it actually trying to take the breath attack head on?"
Han Yu could barely believe it.
The Wyvern leaned forward.
The ram charged.
A blinding wave of icy frost erupted from the Wyvern's maw.
Han Yu instinctively shielded his face as a freezing blast of air swept across the cliffs.
The ram smashed into the frost wave.
And disappeared in a cloud of icy mist.
Han Yu waited.
The frost slowly dissipated.
The ram emerged, still alive, but barely. A thin shell of ice clung to its horns. Its legs shook. Its breaths came in puffs of steam.
The Wyvern spread its wings again to finish the job.
Han Yu exhaled softly.
"This is not my fight."
He stepped back deeper into the alcove, avoiding the moonlight. He had no interest in fighting either beast. Even one of them would require full effort to overcome. Facing both would be suicide.
But fate rarely cared about desire.
The ground suddenly vibrated beneath Han Yu's feet. The ram had leaped backward from the frost wave explosion, crashing into the ridge that overlooked Han Yu's alcove. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Large cracks spiderwebbed across the rock.
Han Yu's eyes widened.
"Oh no."
The cracked rock gave way.
The ram tumbled down.
Directly toward Han Yu's hiding place.
And the Wyvern roared in pursuit.
Han Yu did not think. He moved.
WHOOSH
The instant the rocky ceiling collapsed above the alcove, he lunged outward in a burst of spirit Qi.
CRUMBLE
The entire ledge broke apart behind him as the unconscious Rocky Hoofed Ram thundered down with enough force to pulverize boulders. Huge slabs of rock smashed into the alcove like falling sky, exploding into dust.
Han Yu kicked off the air, gripping his halberd tightly. At once, the weapon lifted beneath him, and he leaped onto it, stabilizing himself mid-air as debris rained past.
"Great. Absolutely great," Han Yu muttered through clenched teeth as he rose higher. "These rams are cursed. Every time I see one, trouble follows."
Below him, the ram lay half buried beneath broken stone, unmoving but very much alive. The thick waves of Nascent Soul realm Qi rolling off it were proof enough. Even unconscious, the beast was radiating enough power to make Han Yu's skin crawl.
He swallowed. Hard.
"The hell… no wonder it challenged the Wyvern."
Only something insane enough to be at the Infant Soul Stage would ram its horns into a Frost Wing Wyvern's scales. That alone solved the mystery of the ridiculous fight he had witnessed.
It was not bravery. It was not stupidity. It was simply the arrogance of a beast that thought itself unkillable.
But the wyvern was stronger still.
SHUA
Han Yu felt another surge of chilling Qi and turned just in time to sense the Frost Wing Wyvern diving down after him. The ram, now buried and no longer moving, was momentarily forgotten by the beast. Han Yu's presence, his qi fluctuations, and the fact that he was flying were apparently enough to draw its attention.
Han Yu spat out a breath.
"I cannot catch a break. Not one damn break."
He pointed the halberd toward the nearest mountain, about two hundred meters away, and shot off like an arrow. The wind whipped past his ears as he flew, weaving between jagged outcrops and broken ridges.
SCRAAAAAA
Behind him, the wyvern screeched, the sound tearing through the cold night air like a razor.
THUD
He landed on the rocky ledge of the next mountain, sliding across gravel as he steadied himself.
That was when the cold hit him.
It came like a wave, a chill so deep it felt like needles piercing his back despite the protection of the robe. Han Yu's spirit sense screamed a warning. He turned sharply, gathering Qi in his legs to move.
Too late.
HUAAAAA
The Frost Wing Wyvern had unleashed its Frost Breath.
A wall of blue white cold crashed into him like an avalanche.
Han Yu's eyes widened. He had no time to dodge. His body reacted on instinct. He forced his Qi outward, drawing upon the Dancing Flame Art and Blood Flames at once. A roar of scarlet fire exploded around him, forming a dome of blistering heat.
