Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time-Chapter 673: The Frost Lily Pavilion
Han Yu and the hunters stood near the entrance, where people came and went. Some looked rich. Some looked rough. Some looked like wandering cultivators. Others looked like merchants, guards, or minor clan members.
Han Yu observed quietly.
The women who greeted guests moved gracefully. Their steps were light. Their smiles were trained. But their eyes were sharp.
Too sharp for ordinary workers.
"These are not just courtesans," Han Yu thought. "They are cultivators, or at least trained."
Changli leaned close. "So? Still not curious?"
"I am curious," Han Yu replied. "But not foolish."
Changli laughed. "Fair enough."
They did not enter right away. The drinks inside were not cheap, but the stalls outside sold some cheap alcohol, so they decided to pre-game first. They stood, drank, talked, and watched.
Han Yu used his spirit sense carefully. He did not probe deeply, only lightly.
What he felt made his eyes narrow slightly.
The Pavilion was protected.
Not by one formation.
By several.
Layered. Subtle. Well made.
And inside, there were strong presences.
Stronger than most people in this town.
"Madam Cold Fang," Han Yu thought. "Your place is not simple."
For now, he did not act.
He only observed.
And inside his robes, Chitterfang twitched slightly, as if reacting to something unseen.
Han Yu and the hunters finally decided to go inside the Frost Lily Pavilion after lingering at the outside drink stalls for a while.
Even though they had earned well from selling the wolf corpses, none of them wanted to spend carelessly. They all knew how fast money disappeared once wine, music, and pretty faces were involved. One careless night could easily erase a month of hard hunting.
The entrance of the Frost Lily Pavilion was wide and tall, built from pale blue stone and dark wood. Lanterns shaped like blooming lilies hung on both sides of the doorway, glowing with a soft white light that made the entire front look gentle and inviting.
Two women stood at the entrance.
They wore long flowing robes in shades of blue, white, and silver. Their sleeves were wide and light, embroidered with patterns of snowflakes and flowers. Their hair was arranged neatly with simple but elegant pins shaped like petals or birds.
When they saw the hunters approaching, they smiled warmly.
Their smiles were practiced, but not fake. They were calm, controlled, and welcoming.
One of them noticed Han Yu immediately.
Not because he was handsome in a flamboyant way, but because he carried himself differently. Besides, Ju Fan wasn't exactly the most appealing looking for most people. His posture was relaxed but alert. His eyes were calm but deep. He did not stare greedily like some men, nor did he avoid looking altogether.
She stepped forward and bowed slightly.
"Welcome to the Frost Lily Pavilion," she said gently. "Is this honored guest visiting us for the first time?"
Han Yu nodded lightly. "Yes."
Her smile brightened just a little. "Then we are honored."
Changli laughed and waved his hand. "Bring us to the usual kind of hall. Not too noisy, not too quiet."
She nodded. "Please follow me."
They entered.
The moment Han Yu stepped inside, he felt it clearly.
This place was not just a pleasure pavilion. It was layered with formations, subtle and elegant. They were not oppressive. They were calming, soothing, almost comforting.
The air inside was warm, carrying the scent of incense, wine, and faint floral perfume. Soft music played somewhere in the distance, a mix of string instruments and wind flutes.
The main corridor was wide, with polished wooden floors and tall pillars carved with lilies, cranes, and clouds. Curtains of pale silk hung between sections, gently swaying.
The pavilion was divided into many parts.
First was the central hall.
It was the largest area, meant for common patrons. Rows of tables were arranged facing a raised stage. The stage was decorated with curtains and lanterns. This was where group performances were held. Music, dance, poetry, and storytelling.
This hall was lively and bright. Many people could sit together, drink, eat, and enjoy the same performance.
Then there were the shared halls.
These were smaller and quieter. Each one could hold around twenty to thirty people, but usually far fewer were seated at one time. These halls were for people who wanted more space, less noise, and more personal attention.
Each shared hall had its own small stage, low and wide, for more intimate performances.
And finally, there were private rooms.
Those were hidden behind heavy curtains and guarded by attendants. Changli did not even look in that direction.
"I am not that rich," he muttered.
They were led into one of the shared halls.
This hall was oval in shape, with a domed ceiling painted with clouds and flying cranes. Lanterns hung from the ceiling at different heights, giving the room a warm golden glow.
There were about seven people already seated, spread across several tables. The hall could easily fit twenty five, so it felt spacious.
Some patrons were chatting quietly. Some were sipping wine. A few courtesans were already seated with them, laughing softly, pouring drinks, or offering snacks.
No performance was happening yet.
The woman led Han Yu's group to an empty table near the side, where they could see the small stage clearly.
They sat down.
The woman smiled. "Which of our ladies would you like to accompany you today?"
Changli leaned back proudly. "Little Cherry, as usual."
The woman nodded. "I will send for her."
The other hunters looked a bit awkward.
"I do not care," one said. "Anyone gentle."
"Anyone cheap," another added quickly.
The woman smiled without judgment. "We will arrange it."
Then she turned to Han Yu.
"And you, honored guest?"
Han Yu hesitated.
He did not come here for pleasure. He came to observe. But choosing no one would attract attention.
"I am new," he said. "I do not know."
Changli laughed and slapped his back. "Then go look. Pick one you like."
The woman nodded. "Please come with me."
