Chapter 686: Rare Methods And Materials

There were methods in the scrolls and books that even the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect did not possess, or had lost over time. It became clear to him that no single sect, no matter how powerful, could truly claim to hold all knowledge.

A week passed.

During that entire week, Han Yu did not leave the library.

A small side chamber had been prepared for him with a latrine and a resting mat, but he barely used it. He slept only a few hours at a time, then returned to reading. Food was brought to him quietly and placed at the entrance. Sometimes he forgot to eat until hours later.

His mind was fully immersed.

By the end of the week, he finally felt he understood the materials.

Soul-binding Blood Crystal.

He had seen this before in the Blood Sect. It was a rare crystal formed when blood saturated with soul force was compressed underground for a thousand years. It could anchor a damaged soul, but if used wrongly, it could also enslave it.

Heart Marrow of a Nascent Soul realm beast.

This was not just marrow. It was the condensed life force of a beast that had formed a Nascent Soul. It could nourish broken soul structures, but it also carried violent beast intent that had to be carefully purified.

Seven Yin Moon Grass.

This herb grew only in places where extreme cold and extreme Yin energy overlapped. It could calm unstable souls, but it was also poisonous if not processed correctly. Han Yu was sure they got this from the Harrow Mountains.

Heaven-sundered Bone Thread. This one made even Han Yu feel amazed.

It was not a natural material.

It was forged.

Bones of hundreds of beasts had to be collected, refined, and then exposed to lightning during a Nascent Soul cultivator’s Heavenly Tribulation. Only then would a few strands of bone be transformed into Heaven-sundered Bone Thread. It was used to stitch broken cultivation foundations.

"Three strands..." Han Yu muttered. "They must have paid an insane price."

Then there was Living Blood.

In the Blood Sect, Living Blood was common, but its type mattered more than its name. There were thousands of refinement methods, each creating a different kind of Living Blood with different properties.

The Fatui Clan’s Living Blood required both beast blood and human blood.

Han Yu could tell from the structure that it was meant to resonate with both beast marrow and human soul.

"How many people died for this," he wondered quietly.

But he did not ask.

On the Blood Moon Continent, morality bent easily under power and desperation.

By the end of the week, Han Yu finally closed the last book.

He leaned back and closed his eyes.

"The method is not nonsense," he said softly to himself. "But it is walking on the edge of a blade."

He finally stood up and left the library.

When he returned to the surface and met the Patriarch again, his expression was serious.

"I understand what you have built," Han Yu said. "It can work. But even with perfect execution, there is no absolute certainty."

The Patriarch bowed his head slightly. "We already accepted that."

Han Yu looked at him. "Then prepare the refinement chamber. Call the assisting alchemists. From now on, we stop guessing and start acting."

With Han Yu giving the order, the alchemists who had long since been prepared got into action.

He was brought to the Alchemy hall of the Fatui clan that was located in a separate section of the courtyard. Han Yu could sense stronger arrays here, probably to protect from any accident or pill explosion which was relatively common when alchemists researched new pills or made mistakes with even common ones.

While it was not on the level of a the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect’s Alchemy Peak, it was still rather good quality. At the very least Han Yu found it to be on the same level as that of the Twin Leaf Peak Sect.

"Honored Disciple, everything is prepared in the main chamber, we’ll start as soon as you give the orders." One of the alchemist who was member of the clan asked.

Han Yu looked at the man finding him to look similar to Fatui Zhushen.

"Are you the fifth son of the Patriarch?" Han Yu guessed.

"Indeed, Honored disciple. I am Zhuwen shall be taking the position of the lead assistant in this." Fatui Zhuwen stated.

"Alright." Han Yu said as he walked into the main chamber.

Inside a large cauldron which Han Yu recognized to be a Three Turns Blood Geng Cauldron.

"A High Grade Alchemy Cauldron." Han Yu instantly felt. "This should make it a bit smoother." He muttered.

He then went on to check the preparation before the actual work. He couldn’t just trust them after all, as everyone had different habits as alchemists, so Han Yu had to move some things around to make it convenient for him.

Mostly it was changing the positions where the materials and ingredients were kept, as well as fine turning the Flame Array. But when Han Yu tested the flame array he found something.

HISSS~

"Huh? The flame array is erratic?" Fatui Zhuwen was surprised before is expression grew serious. "How adjusted this array? Why is such a basic mistake being made?!" he shouted.

"No." Han Yu replied to the man. "It’s not their fault."

"It’s not?" The man was surprised.

"The array is incompatible with me," Han Yu realized.

"How can that be? This is the most used form of Flame Array." Fatui Zhuwen stated.

"Its mostly due to my skills." Han Yu replied. "It cannot handle the Blood Flames." He explained.

"This... We missed such a thing..." The man was stunned.

"It’s no matter. I’ll simply use it with my own flames. Turn off the Flame Array." Han Yu ordered.

The man was surprised but obliged anyways. "Do as the Honored Disciple says!"

SHUA

The array was turned off and Han Yu finally used his own flames.

The flame that came from his hands was blood red and contained a power that made everyone recoil for a moment.

"Such strong and potent flames..."
