Han Yu could hear the soft creak of doors opening, the rustle of cloth, even low voices speaking in murmurs.

He took a breath through his nose and frowned slightly in surprise.

He could smell food.

Not just vaguely, but clearly.

The scent of meat being roasted, of porridge simmering, of herbs being boiled. He could even smell incense being lit somewhere in the residence, its faint, calming fragrance drifting through the cold air.

He smiled faintly.

His sense of taste was the only one he could not test yet.

But he would not need to wait long.

A few minutes later, he heard light footsteps approaching his courtyard. There was a soft knock at the gate, followed by a respectful voice.

"Honored guest, breakfast has been prepared."

Han Yu rose, adjusted his robes, and opened the gate. A young servant bowed deeply and gestured for him to follow.

They walked through the quiet paths of the Fatui Clan residence. Snow lay along the sides of the stone walkways, but the central paths had been carefully cleared. The air was cold, but crisp and fresh.

Soon, they reached the main dining hall.

When Han Yu entered, he paused slightly in surprise.

The Patriarch was already seated at the head of the long table. Beside him were his six wives, all wearing warm, elegant robes, their appearances varying but each carrying a dignified air.

Around them sat many others.

There were sons and daughters, sons in law and daughters in law, and even a few young children and toddlers being held by their mothers.

Han Yu quickly realized that almost the entire close family of the Patriarch was present.

Around twenty five children.

Several grandchildren.

This was the first time he had seen all of them together. Yesterday, only the most important and powerful figures had been present. Today, it was clearly a family gathering, meant to honor his departure.

The youngest of the children looked to be in their late teens, while most were in their twenties. Only the oldest five appeared to be in their thirties or older, though Han Yu knew that as cultivators, their true ages were likely much higher.

His gaze stopped briefly on a man sitting not too far from the Patriarch.

This was the first son.

Han Yu recognized him from descriptions he had heard.

The man looked to be in his late forties, with calm eyes and a gentle expression. His cultivation was only at the early stage of the Core Condensation Realm, far below his third brother, Zhushen.

Yet there was no bitterness or resentment in his eyes.

Instead, he looked more like a scholar than a warrior or alchemist. His hands were slender, and his posture was straight and composed.

Han Yu remembered what he had heard.

This man had worked tirelessly to search through old records, ruins, and forgotten texts to find anything that could help complete the Soul Blood Mending Cursed Pill. Without his efforts, they might never have found the lost method at all.

In that sense, his contribution was immense.

The Patriarch noticed Han Yu and smiled.

"Honored guest, please sit."

Han Yu inclined his head slightly and took the seat that had been prepared for him near the Patriarch.

Everyone greeted him politely, some with awe, some with gratitude, and some with a mix of curiosity and respect.

Once he was seated, servants began bringing in dishes.

Han Yu was stunned by the sight.

There were more than forty dishes.

Meat, fish, soups, stews, vegetables, spirit beast dishes, pastries, porridge, fruit, and many things he could not even name. Some were steaming hot, others were delicately arranged cold dishes.

"This is more like a feast than a breakfast," Han Yu said with a faint smile.

The Patriarch laughed softly.

"Today is special," he said. "You are leaving, and without you, our clan might not even be here to hold such a meal."

The others nodded, their expressions sincere.

They began to eat.

Han Yu picked up his chopsticks and took a bite of a dish made from spirit beast meat cooked with herbs.

The moment it touched his tongue, he froze slightly.

The flavor exploded in his mouth.

He could taste layers he had never noticed before. The sweetness of the meat, the bitterness and fragrance of the herbs, the subtle smokiness from roasting, and even the faint mineral taste of the water used to cook it.

His eyes widened just a little.

"So even my sense of taste has changed," he murmured.

He tried another dish, then another.

Each one felt more vivid than before, as if his tongue could now separate and recognize every detail within the flavor.

As they ate, the family chatted lightly. Some asked him about his travels, others thanked him again, and some of the younger ones looked at him with open admiration.

Han Yu answered calmly, not revealing too much, but not being cold either.

He could feel the faint flow of Eight Emotions Energy drifting toward him throughout the meal.

Gratitude.

Trust.

Joy.

Relief.

All of it was gentle but steady.

By the time the meal ended, Han Yu felt satisfied in both body and mind.

This morning, more than any other, made him realize just how much he had changed.

Not just in power.

But in perception. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

In clarity.

In the way he experienced the world itself.

In less than an hour, the breakfast was over and Han Yu got up to leave. He had already packed everything beforehand, not that there was much to do anyways with his Spatial Storage Pouches.

Plus, the Patriarch had given him another one that contained all the Spirit Stones, so he had little to pack in the first place.

The Patriarch and his sons came to the gates to bid Han Yu Farwell.

"The Fatui Clan will always stand by you, and we'll look forward to getting messages from you." The Patriarch stated.

"I'll hold you to that." Han Yu said before finally leaving the residence of the Fatui Clan, having gained another ally.
