Stuck in a Chinese novel-Chapter 436: Meteor
Okay, so I hit a bit of a snag while creating my character's arts. The problem stemmed from the anime version, a little bit of the manhwa version, and quite a realistic version. I can't decide what to end up on, so I've decided to let you guys decide.

There had been many reasons why Wei Jun had been able to resist the effects of mana and the spells. First of all was his strong body. His natural stats were so high that there was no need for him to empower himself with Qi. Of course, a bare body against any supernatural power would be at a disadvantage, which would have been a problem had Wei Jun not also possessed his class, which healed him continuously.
The second point was his Qi. The nature of his Qi was destruction, decay and nullification. The sole purpose of death was to end everything and as soon as any power came in contact with Wei Jun's Qi which was made of death, their effect would greatly diminish so when mana or Qi of another person came in contact with Wei Jun's Qi, they lost a significant power, or were outright canceled if they belonged to lower level powers.
The final nail in the coffin, especially in the case of mana, was his INT stat. INT stat was a stat that he had awakened after he had been given a chance to awaken mana, which the overseer advised against.
Still, the effect of the INT stat was quite unexpected, something even the overseer or Wei Jun hadn't imagined.
Mana nullification. The effects of spells would be drastically reduced when shot at Wei Jun. That was the main function of INT stat.
There were two magicians in Wei Jun's party, and both of them were quite talented. Especially Natasha, whose growth saw an unprecedented increase after Wei Jun supplied her with mana crystals he got from Arcadia.
With the limit of his physical stats, he wasn't getting the stats from the cultivator's growth from his party member but as these two got stronger, they supplied Wei Jun with INT stat which wasn't bound by the system level restriction for some reason.
[INT: 3991]
That was his INT stat before Natasha broke through two of the circle realms. When she entered the eighth circle realm, she supplied Wei Jun with an amount of...
[INT: 13991]
His INT stat had risen by ten thousand. As it did, the third, fourth, and even fifth circle spells had no effect on him, with the fifth circle spells stinging him a little. If cultivators were to know that fifth circle spells were only stinging him a little, they would vomit blood, while mages would outright kill themselves.
Sixth circle spells were a problem, but not by much, and he felt like he could bear the seventh circle spells greatly as well. However, even with all of that...
'That thing...'
Wei Jun looked at the group of mages on the wall.
A little bit far away, after a lot of hindrances, on top of the inner castle walls, there was a group of mages who were preparing a spell, a spell that couldn't be seen, but the circle on top of the green eyed woman was intimidating by a great bit for some reason.
Even with all of those insurances, he felt a little afraid to face that skill.
But...
"Give up! Or we shall kill your lover!" McCalligan said. The target of the eighth circle spell was never Wei Jun. It was Xia Lu, the skill was pointed in the direction of the dungeon where criminals were kept.
"Oh, that..." Wei Jun nonchalantly said as he looked at the timer. He sighed as there were only a few seconds left. With a calm and nonchalant behavior, he simply asked, "You never wondered why I was so desperate to get through the barrier, did you?"
"What?" McCalligan asked before it hit him. The barrier around the academy wasn't activated all the time but the essence of the barrier always remained. That meant teleportations in and out of the academy were impossible as long as the barrier was in the way.
But now...
"I never needed you to help anyway." Wei Jun said as he turned and began to run away.
His speed was so massive that even the strongest aura master could only keep up with him with their eyes. As for mages, in their slowed mind realm, they saw him running away, but their bodies didn't move as fast as their minds.
So, in an instant, Wei Jun was quite a good distance away from the castle, and with only a second left on the clock, he said...
"Call."
[Party member Natasha Miller has been summoned]
[Party member Xia Lu has been summoned]
The next second, both of them appeared beside him, Xia Lu in a critical condition, while Melissa looked like she was fighting something.
"Welcome." Wei Jun said as he fed Xia Lu a healing pill while the system rang in the background. Wei Jun also felt the power surge flowing through his whole body, and not just him, Xia Lu, and Natasha felt an increase in their growth as well.
"They've deployed Meteor." Natasha worriedly said after she calmed down from the battle she had just engaged in. The person she was fighting against wasn't a person. He was akin to being a monster.
And now that...
"I know." Wei Jun nonchalantly replied.
He helped Xia Lu up, who was in tatters just a moment ago. It didn't seem like she was tortured or malnourished, but she was still at the edge of death; had he been even a second late, so he was still going to kill everyone for that.
"Are you all right?" He tenderly asked, a softness Natasha wasn't aware he could show. Xia Lu, on the other hand, smiled and said, "I am now."
Wei Jun smiled softly and leaned in to kiss her only Xia Lu to stop her all flustered. When he frowned at her in question, she turned red and replied, "I haven't showered or brushed for a month."
"Haha." Wei Jun couldn't help but laugh at her reply which only served to make Xia Lu even more embarrassed that she slapped Wei Jun on his shoulder in dissatisfaction and displayed it in her words, "You're laughing!"
"Hahahaha." Wei Jun laughed even more, which earned him some more slaps on the back, "Sorry, sorry. It's just that I can't--- pfffttt!!! Hahahahaha!!!"
"Um... guys." Natasha interrupted the wholesome atmosphere and called both of them. Wei Jun stopped laughing and turned to her who looking in the direction of the castle. Intense magical reverberations emitted from the castle, striking anything and everything in the surroundings. Had Wei Jun not been strong as he was, even standing would have been very difficult under the assault of those magical waves.
"It somehow feels incomplete." Wei Jun couldn't help but comment, but he wasn't looking for an answer. Whatever it was, it was coming soon, and for some reason, Wei Jun had a feeling he wouldn't be able to avoid it. He wasn't the target before, but now that he was, he felt as if there was some way to pinpoint the attack to his location.
Though he wasn't sure of what it would be, he wasn't eager to find out. But, the matter of avoiding it was entirely different. He knew he wouldn't be able to avoid it so what he had to do was prepare for it.
That would also mean all those around him wouldn't be able to avoid it as well, in which case...
"Leave. Both of you." Wei Jun solemnly said as he began to make his way to the castle.
"What?! NO!" Xia Lu was the first to protest, and even Natasha, who was aware of the danger of the spell, wasn't willing to leave.
However, Wei Jun's command was absolute. There was no space to deny.
"Rendezvous with the others. Return here immediately. I have a feeling I'm going to need you." Wei Jun said as he looked past the circle and gazed in the direction from which he could feel something. Someone, to be more exact. Someone strong. Someone like Morial, but different as well.
Someone human and a monster at the same time.
"Go. Now!" That command was directed to Natasha, who didn't hesitate for another second and grabbed Xia Lu's wrist. Before Xia Lu could do anything...
[Blink]
A short-range teleportation spell that was safe compared to other teleportation spells. Even though Natasha was an eighth circle mage, she hadn't learned any spells past the fifth circle and only knew some sixth circle spells, such as Blink.
She knew she would be of no help, so she did what she was told to do. Besides, Wei Jun wasn't the type to do something so foolish as that.
He had a plan, or at least the confidence to survive. All she had to do was trust in him.
In about ten seconds, and casting [Blink] again and again, they got well away from the area, but she didn't stop. Being as far away from the spell [Meteor] and then farther beyond that was always better.
Back in the field, as he looked at the falling literal meteor burning with an intense heat, Wei Jun couldn't help but widen his eyes in shock as he said with a slight quiver in his voice...
"This might be a bit too much..."
[Trait 'Valor' has been activated]
