Chapter 485

[That’s something]

’It needed to be done.’ Wei Jun replied.

[No, not that]

[That!]

Wei Jun looked at Xing Xiaomei, who was eating ice cream. Correction, she was licking ice cream.

’Weren’t you married?’ Wei Jun asked.

[I’ve been alone for millions of years]

’That doesn’t come with the complete control over your worldly desires and all?’

[Where did you hear that from?]

[A buddhist?]

[There’s an expression, host]

[Once a man, always a man]

[A living being or a powerful entity alike]

’I see. I see.’ Wei Jun replied as she waved the overseer’s insistence away and added, ’Look all you want.’

[Thank you]

Wei Jun shook his head as he focused on his own task. The acquiring of the contract to rebuild the city of Yuan Yin was as good as his.

Just to make sure, Wei Jun had ordered Mark Wilson and Morial to take care of his competitors in case the government sought revenge for what he did today. Of course, they would have to pay the consequences for such an action so unless they were stupid, they would just bury the matter.

After all, the law that protected them from cultivators was useless when the protectors of those laws were already on Wei Jun’s side. Not everyone was on his side, sure, but those who mattered were and that was all what mattered to him.

As they arrived home, Wei Jun ordered Yue Peng, Lin Ruan and Li Wei to get everything into motion. Since the workload was massive and they had to focus on increasing their strengths as well, Wei Jun decided to take some of the responsibility which in their case was massive.

Wei Jun did ten times the work they did in just a few hours and had drafted a simple plan. Then a meeting was held to perfect that plan, making sure that most of the profit was kept in their pockets and they got most of the prime locations.

[Why not just look into the novel and get some cheats?]

Upon the inquiry of the system, Wei Jun simply replied, ’I’d rather shoot myself than read all that bullsh*t. I had to before but I’d never read that stuff now.’

[So dramatic]

’Dramatic?!’ Wei Jun yelled.

’Can you tell me how a mother of three was a maiden?’

’Can you tell me how a man managed to dip into lava turn out perfectly fine while it remained the same for the villain?’

’CAN YOU OR CAN YOU NOT TELL ME HOW IN THE WORLD CAN A WORMHOLE APPEAR MAGICALLY TO SWALLOW A VILLAIN WHILE THE HERO AND HIS PARTY WERE SAFE?!!!!!!’

[...]

[Zeesh~]

[Calm down, will you]

[I was just suggesting]

’Don’t offer such suggestions that make my blood boil.’ Wei Jun replied before he took deep breaths to calm down while Lin Ruan and others looked at him strangely because he suddenly started to breathe rapidly and them calmed down by taking deep breaths.

"Everything okay?" Lin Ruan asked.

"Yeah, I’m fine." Wei Jun replied in a low tone before he asked, "What about the thing Li Wei informed you both about?"

"The one with the privatization of cultivators?" Yue Peng asked.

"Yeah. Have you discussed it?" Wei Jun asked.

"We have. But, do you think it would be okay? The military may be our ally at the moment but what if they don’t like it?" Lin Ruan asked.

"Don’t worry about that. They have enough on their plate already." Wei Jun replied.

"And what if they tried to suppress us?" Yue Peng asked.

"Why would they do that?" Wei Jun asked.

"Not them. The government." Lin Ruan explained.

Wei Jun sighed. He knew what they were talking about. What Wei Jun wanted to make was a private company, a company of mercenaries of sorts. The main point would be that they would be a private organization, a company, a corporation. In that sense, they would need the government’s approval. Even they wouldn’t be able to use that much dirt on the government. If the government used the public, things would just spiral out of control.

"Then let’s give them a reason to." Wei Jun simply replied before he said, "Post our men throughout the city. Deal with dungeons before they anyone else and free of cost, and even donate the small earnings to the people so they can get back up on their feet. If I’m not wrong, there’s a majority of citizens camping outside the city, right?"

"Yes, boss." Li Wei took control of the conversation and said, "Those who had nowhere to go to are outside the city, in the temporary government’s camps. That population is about 85% of the common population of the city so it’s quite a lot. The government is skimping on rations so that’s a problem for them too."

"Then begin with the apartment buildings and start relocating families. Preferably families with elderly and children. Also donate the earnings from the dungeons so they can sustain themselves while the construction is ongoing." Wei Jun instructed in the public welfare which honestly surprised the girls.

They were sure Wei Jun would maximize their profit first. After all, redevelopment of an entire city was a golden chance to cement your influence. No one would be able to speak up to Wei Jun of the Ruan family for years to come, even the external factors.

"Don’t be so surprised." Wei Jun said before he added, "This helps us in the long run. We take some losses now, and then make ten, no, more later."

"Understood." Yue Peng said before she stood up and left before leaving a few parting words, "I’ll get started then."

"Mhm." Wei jun replied before he looked at Li Wei who was also about to follow Yue Peng along with Lin Ruan and said, "That information you got in the morning."

"Yes?" Li Wei stopped, turning to Wei Jun who still had something to say and asked, "What about it, boss?"

"I need more. Specifically on these people." Wei Jun said as he placed a list of names on the table. Li Wei checked the list and then looked at Wei Jun with a skeptical gaze, "Don’t you think it’s a bit too much?"

"Are you saying you can’t do it?" Wei Jun asked.

"I never said that." Li Wei replied.

"Then?" Wei Jun asked.

"I just think there should be a reward in order. You know, for all the hard work I put in." Li Wei said coyly.

"Don’t you get paid already? More than anyone else?" Wei Jun asked.

"That’s different." Li Wei simply replied without leaving any space for an argument.

"Fine. What do you want?" In the end Wei Jun had to concede and asked with a heavy sigh.

"Span--!!" Li Wei excitedly spoke up only to be interrupted by Wei jun, "Be careful because if I don’t like your words, you’ll get nothing, not even this month’s pay."

"Tch!" Li Wei clicked her tongue in annoyance and said, "Then I’ll reserve my reward for now. Good day to you... Sir." Li Wei dramatically turned and left the room without waiting for Wei Jun reply.

[She’s into you]

’She’s playing around.’

[So god doesn’t bless both sides, huh?]

’...’

’You believe in god?’ Wei Jun asked.

[Why not?]

[Someone like me couldn’t have just spawned out of thin air]

’Funny.’ Wei Jun replied as he heard those words, ’Those words resemble my brother’s greatly.’

[Is that so?]

’Yeah.’

[...]

’...’

There was a moment of silence before Wei Jun finally asked, ’What kind of a person was he?’

[You don’t know your own brother]

’...’

’When I was eleven, I once visited my brother’s company. I had never been there before, but when I arrived, a wave of fear spread.’ freewebnσvel.cѳm

’I thought it was because of me but it wasn’t.’

’I turned to look at the person I was with.’

’I couldn’t understand why those people were afraid of my brother. He was the kindest person I knew.’

’And then it hit me, he was the kindest to me.’

’To everyone else...’

Wei Jun didn’t say anything anymore but there wasn’t a need to.

[...]

[He was a monster]

’That’s a way to describe him.’

[Don’t get me wrong]

[He wasn’t an evil person]

[But still, his name, just the mention of his existence would spark fear beyond death]

[The angel of angels]

[The Archangel]

’That’s a fancy name.’ Wei Jun commented.

[You can say that because you haven’t seen it yet]

’Seen what?’ Wei Jun asked.

[The destruction in his wake]

’...’

’How do you know him?’ Wei Jun asked.

[...]

[He saved my father]

[He never called him his disciple]

[He just, was with him]

’But how do you know him?’ Wei Jun asked.

[Because I met him once]

[Before becoming the overseer]

[Just once]

’And? What did you think of him?’

[Couldn’t]

[I couldn’t even breathe in his presence]

[No one could]

’Why?’ Wei Jun asked, ’Was he that terrifying?’

[Quite the contrary]

[He had the kindest of smiles on his face]

[It was just...]

[How could a being like me even be in the presence of a being like him?]

’Even now?’ Wei Jun asked.

[Haha]

[If I was, host, to him, an ant then]

[Then now, I’m nothing but a slightly bigger ant]

[Swatting me, on the other hand, is just as easy for him now as it was for him then]

’...’

[I’ll say just this, host]

[Be glad you’ve only seen the kind side of him]

[You do not want to see the other one]

[It would all boil down to one word]

[Monstrous]
