Chapter 256: Very Interesting...

Gray paused for a second, glancing down as if remembering the weight of it all. It was probably the lowest point of his life, just behind when he lost both of his parents.

After a second, he gave a small shrug.

"Back then, it felt like the end of the world to me. I barely have money, and also lost my job. I’m also taking care of my little sister. She was still in school, so I couldn’t just sit around. I had to figure something out."

The audience stayed quiet, but he could feel their full attention directed towards him already. No one dared to talk or make a sound. They just stayed quiet with all eyes on him.

Luna tilted her head slightly to the side. Her expression became soft as if she was sympathizing with Gray.

"That must’ve been tough. What did you do next?"

"I started small," Gray muttered. His voice was calm with no trace of nervousness in it.

"I worked as a tutor. I got lucky with them, and honestly, they were the ones who gave me the shop. That’s why I can’t say it’s really due to my hardwork. Maybe a little, but it was really them who gave me the opportunity."

The audience let out a soft reaction when they heard that. They were clearly intrigued. Some leaned forward in their seats as if they didn’t want to miss a single word.

"Whoa!" Luna’s brows lifted slightly. "They gave you the shop?"

"Yeah. It surprised me too. At first, I just thought they were being nice... but later, I realized it was because they trusted me." Gray nodded, and a faint smile showed on his face as he chuckled.

"Who knows, and maybe they saw how seriously I took tutoring?" he tried to joke around to lighten the atmosphere.

"Whoa! That’s incredible," Luna muttered out loud, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "Not many people get that kind of trust placed in them. And clearly, you proved them right."

A small round of applause broke from the audience, the sound echoing around the studio before dying down again.

Gray shifted slightly in his seat, trying not to look too overwhelmed by the attention.

"Well... I don’t know if I proved them right yet. I’m still working on it. Every day feels like I’m learning something new. Sometimes I make mistakes, sometimes I get it right, but I try not to waste the rare chance I was given."

Luna smiled at that; her expression brightened with a touch of playfulness.

"You know, a lot of people watching this right now probably wish they had someone like that to believe in them. Do you think it was fate? Or just good timing?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Gray hesitated for a second, then chuckled softly. He was surprised by how fast Luna could think of the next question related to the topic.

"Maybe both. Life has a funny way of testing you first before showing you an opportunity. If I hadn’t hit rock bottom, I probably wouldn’t have taken another job. And if I hadn’t met the right people at the right time... well, I wouldn’t be sitting here today."

The audience clapped again, a little louder this time, with a few whistles mixed in to cheer on Gray.

Luna leaned back slightly, giving him a thoughtful look.

"So, from a struggling tutor to running a grocery store that’s now making waves... what was the hardest part of that transition?"

Gray let out a small breath, his eyes drifting upward as he thought of the answer.

"The hardest part? Honestly... managing people. Groceries are simple. You buy, you sell, you stock. But people?" He gave a wry smile. "They’re not so simple. Everyone has their own story, their own struggles. Learning to balance that while keeping the business alive has been the real challenge."

That answer drew a mix of applause and murmurs of approval from the audience. Luna nodded too as if she was agreeing with his answer.

"That’s a very honest answer. I could also relate to that as someone who has been working in the showbiz industry. I meet a lot of people every day, and I know that each one of them has their own story too."

Gray’s lips curved faintly, amused at her comparison.

"I guess it’s the same everywhere then. Whether it’s actors, customers, or employees— everyone has their own stories, and that’s what makes it meaningful."

The audience let out a light round of applause at that, some nodding in agreement. The others could relate well to the words that Gray had just said.

"That’s a nice way of putting it, Gray. It’s really meaningful. I think that’s why people are curious about you, Gray. You’re not here talking about your business, but the people that you’re with."

Gray chuckled softly at that, shaking his head.

"Well, numbers don’t keep a store alive on their own. It’s the people running it, the customers walking in, the community supporting it, and the workers working for it. Without them, it’s just an empty building with shelves and products."

That line drew another warm reaction from the crowd. They clapped their hands even louder, while some shouted to show their agreement.

Luna caught that moment. She chuckled and pointed at the audience in front of them.

"See? Even our parents couldn’t help but agree with your words! I didn’t know that Mr. Adams isn’t just a businessman. He’s also a philosopher!"

Laughter echoed through the studio, breaking the heaviness and loosening the mood.

Gray rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed but playing along.

"Philosopher might be stretching it a little."

"Hmm..." Luna tilted her head dramatically, still smiling. "Maybe. But let me ask you this then—when you first walked into your store, as the owner for the first time... what did you feel?"

Gray’s expression softened at the memory. He went quiet for a moment before answering.

"Honestly? I was nervous. I thought... ’What if I mess this up? What if I can’t handle it?’ But at the same time, there was this small voice telling me, ’If you don’t try now, you’ll regret it forever.’ So I just stepped forward."

The studio was quiet again, hanging on to his words.

"That’s very brave of you, Gray. And I think a lot of people watching tonight will take something from that. Whether they’re dreaming of a business or just taking a leap in their own life, I hope they take inspiration from you." Luna leaned back and gave Gray a look of amusement.

Going into this interview, she thought that they would just go on and tackle how Gray succeeded in life. Maybe talk about his business and achievements. It was just like any other interview she had with other business people.

However, she was proven wrong.

Gray was a man of substance. He thought deeply about things and truly cared for the people around him.

And it showed. Not just in his answers, but in the way he carried himself.

He didn’t boast about his store, his recent popularity, or did he try to paint himself larger than he was. Instead, he spoke about how people helped him, his stories, and his background.

The audience seemed to sense it too. They weren’t just clapping out of courtesy anymore. They were smiling and reacting naturally as though they weren’t watching some distant entrepreneur but listening to a neighbor, a friend, and someone who understood what it meant to struggle in life.

"You know, Gray, sometimes people chase success only to find out it’s hollow. But hearing you speak tonight... I wonder, what does success mean to you?" Luna smiled warmly at Gray.

She wanted to hear his answer on that.

Gray went quiet for a moment.

"Hmm... Success?" he repeated softly.

"For me, it’s not about money or headlines. But I won’t lie and say they’re not important. They’re very important to me, of course..." Gray chuckled as he stared at the audience in front of him.

His eyes glanced around the stage. He could see the audience’s eyes staring at him, waiting for him to continue his words.

"But my dream really is being able to look at my sister and know she doesn’t have to worry the way I did in the future. It’s seeing the people in my store smile when they get what they need, or when I can give them a little help. I think... success is when you’re not just surviving for yourself, but when you can make someone else’s life a little easier too."

The room went quiet at first as if processing all the words Gray had just said.

Then suddenly, applause sounded. They were gentle at first, but soon it erupted until it filled the studio.

The support of the people made Gray a little embarrassed.

"I can’t help but commend you, Gray..." Luna’s voice cut through the claps. There was a genuine smile on her face, and the look in her eyes was filled with amusement.

’This guy right here is very interesting..." Luna thought to herself.
