Sumatra's Greatest Fan-Chapter 143: Swallow
"What do we do?" Eureur Pet frowned, ’His sacrifice would go to waste if you were to die here.’
"I’m thinking..." Torq fell silent as the submarine moved as close to the seabed as possible, so that they could buy as much time for the longest.
Eureur Pet had gathered all the information dispersed in the mist by the Cooter Clan as they fought. This was all information collected in real-time. And steadily, this contained a significant amount of details about the Depraved Humans.
’In the furball’s memories, the Depraved Humans haven’t been mentioned much. They weren’t instrumental to the Dralh Sea’s destruction. After all,’ He frowned, ’killing a weasel like Virala isn’t easy. Especially after what he experienced towards the end of the book, he has insane survivability.’
’Unless he’s fighting a Celestial, he will figure out a way to survive.’ He thought, ’But in the furball’s memories, it seems definitive that Virala will die here. The Depraved Human Disaster was mentioned as such because of Virala’s death.’
’Phells cannot cause his death. He’s literally made the Abyss Ring his home.’ Torq frowned, ’And according to the information collected by Mother, even though the Depraved Humans are unkillable, I can easily think of ways in which Virala could use his powers to keep fighting them for decades to train his resistance to their influence. And then, he could just eat them and treat their regenerating bodies as free food.’
"How the fuck did he die then?" Torq racked his head, ’With his personality, and the means he displayed in the book, unless he suddenly turned into an idiot, it seems impossible for his death to happen here.’
"Then, how were the Mystic Humans annihilated?" Veins popped on his forehead as he wondered aloud, "Virala isn’t someone that can be killed. And if he’s actually pushed into a corner, he can actually summon Bolts of Transcendence. His body is tough enough to tank a few bolts and survive."
"Two things here," He muttered, looking like he was talking to Eureur Pet when in truth, he was speaking aloud to himself, "Either the bolts no longer descend when he needed them. But Father did make a bolt descend, so I don’t think anything could happen so quickly to the arrangement that creates these bolts."
"Then, the second thing," He continued, "An entity powerful enough to kill Virala takes action."
"If I tally both enemies and allies, there aren’t many that come to mind." He muttered, "None of the Mystic Grade existences among our enemies dare to enter Sumatra now, for they will be used as weapons against the enemies."
Sumatra had two pinnacle existences capable of consuming their opponents and wielding their prey’s power, two pinnacle existences capable of using their opponents as fuel and were masters of swarm tactics, and a special existence that couldn’t be classified under the existing power system.
They were why the Nusantara Continent, despite being significantly stronger than the Sumatra Continent, had to rely on the Quills and the Narlakk Race to scheme around like rats.
In a head on battle, even though the possibility was extremely slim, Nusantara’s Celestial could still end up losing. This was even before Torq’s regression.
After all, Sumatra had an ultimate predator capable of infinite growth. Pretty much every Mystic Grade existence on Sumatra emerged either in the process of killing this predator or as a consequence of attempting the kill.
Mutated Expert Mystic Grade Pranic Beast–Celestial Boar!
Sumatra’s own Celestial, and the one the previous era was named after. It was the existence that wiped out the Cooter Clan’s Dralh Sea branch. Prata City was the bowl it used to store the Empyrean Snappers to feast upon.
The only reason Nusantara Continent dared to hunt Sumatra was because the Celestial Boar was still young, and hadn’t become powerful enough to face Nusantara’s Celestial yet. However, in due time, if allowed to face powerful opponents time and again, the Celestial Boar will reach that level, in mere centuries.
’If I were the enemy, I’d do everything in my power to keep him distracted from growing stronger. And,’ Torq thought, ’The Celestial Boar has enough incentive to hunt Virala.’
In the past, Virala slept with the Celestial Boar’s wife. ’But I don’t think that is the cause.’
For at the slightest signs of the Celestial Boar, Virala will flee the region. In a straight up sprint, Virala was faster than the Celestial Boar and could remain on the run for as long as he wanted.
’The Mystic Grade existences among our enemies don’t dare enter Sumatra yet. And most of our allies with the strength to kill Virala have no incentive to do so. They can all see the bigger picture and would at most use Virala against the enemies.’ The more he thought, the more he felt confused, ’I don’t see how he could be killed.’
"After all, if nothing else works, Virala could always run away. He is one of the best in that regard." As he approached this train of thought, he slowed down, "What if...he cannot run away?"
"Can anyone restrain him?" He shook his head, "I think it would be more accurate to say he lost the chance to run away. Yes, I think that might be possible."
"Then who?" He turned silent, his eyes gradually widening in shock after a few minutes had passed. "Mother..."
"Yes?" Eureur Pet asked, "What do you want to know?"
"Now that you understand the purpose of the Quills, do you think there’s a chance any of the Empyrean Snappers could have been compromised?" Torq asked.
"There’s a slim chance," Eureur Pet shook her head, "But if that were the case, they wouldn’t be targeting Runthral."
"Then!" Even though he didn’t want to believe it, a thought appeared in Torq’s mind, ’There is one way to keep Virala in check, even in the possibility of him trying to escape.’
"We need to return!" He eyed Eureur Pet, "If we can, we must stop her from attacking!"
"Slow down," Eureur Pet said as she felt the submarine sailing in the direction of Prata City, "Don’t be reckless! You’ll die if you were to return there!"
She shouted upon seeing that Torq wasn’t listening to her, "Didn’t you say you’ll flee to safety? Why are you being reckless now?"
"If I don’t, then I won’t get enough time to grow stronger." Torq gritted his teeth, "I have the means to stop it from happening."
"Stop what?" Eureur Pet asked in irritation, "If you don’t give me a proper answer, then I’m stopping us here..."
"Yoribu!" Torq shouted, "I think the enemy wants her to consume a Depraved Human!"
"Surely she will take calculated measures before she assumes such a choice..." Eureur Pet argued.
"Then," Torq shouted, "Even though the Depraved Humans are all at the 10-Life Stage, why haven’t we seen them use that ability yet?"
"That...ability?" Eureur Pet gasped, "Surely you can’t mean?"
"It’s a legend only in the Cooter Clan!" Torq grunted, "There are existences in other forces who have already reached such a level."
"And I’m sure it’s commonplace in Nusantara Continent!" He shouted, "So, they must have planned it!"
"A State of Harmony!" He patted his chest, "I’m sure the Depraved Humans can use it!"
When an existence has three Natures, there is an extremely faint possibility of being able to harmonise the effects of the three Natures to achieve a combined, unified effect.
That was a State of Harmony, the strongest state a cultivator could attain. Simply unleashing a State of Harmony allowed a cultivator to kill someone leagues stronger than them, on paper.
Among the Mystic Humans, only two had reached that point. Virala was one of them. And the other individual was currently in the Brimgan Empire, serving as their Guardian.
"If all the Depraved Humans can use it, then they will reach a level of power where they actually have a chance in killing Virala." Torq explained, "But that’s not all. If Yoribu consumes a Depraved Human and they unleash their State of Harmony mid digestion..."
"She’s the Celestial Boar’s great-granddaughter," Torq expressed in terror, "She has his genetics. So, I’m sure she could reach that level, if she were to become compromised."
"We need to hurry!" Torq shouted, "The Empyrean Boar Race, when pushed to shove, will always rely on that trait of theirs, to consume their way to victory."
"We must stop her before Yoribu does that!"
...
"NOW!" The thundercloud maintained by the five Settlement Leaders gathered enough electrical charge to discharge a series of lightning strikes at Raefrag, which struck the target one after another and actually managed to kill through two of his bodies.
The entire region was drowned by the sea of lightning, which was all discharged in a duration of two seconds.
Raefrag, and his Spirit Weapon range, within which his surviving stack of bodies could appear after dying from an attack, was fully covered by the attack. And this created a chance, where Raefrag was significantly weaker than before, having dropped to the 8-Life Stage.
And before he could gather his bearings, she appeared, in full power, with an aurora brimming with power overhead that boosted her abilities.
Opening her mouth after a transformation, as the air and water in the vicinity got sucked into her mouth without being able to offer any resistance, Yoribu swallowed Raefrag.
