Summoner Online: I Became the Tutorial Boss with a 999+ Villainess-Chapter 47: I would like to remain here.
Following the public spectacle, Kai made his way back to the Master Bedroom, a private sanctuary Carlotta had designed just for him.
It was located at the very apex of the castle tower, far away from where anyone could just randomly wander into.
Kai lay on the massive bed, allowing his dark mist form to fully settle into the silk sheets, showing just how exhausted and relaxed he felt in that moment.
Lyra and Carlotta were still outside in the plaza, speaking to the monsters about their respective floor assignments, so that meant he could finally have some time to himself.
With a small, unseen smile on his face, he closed his eyes.
’This went well, if I do say so myself. Normally, I would be excited that my monsters are capable of taking care of Level 60 players with ease. But even I am not stupid enough to revel in such a weak victory. There are far stronger players out there, especially now that the game has turned into a death war.’
Suddenly, his attempt to have a deep rest vanished, replaced by a series of intrusive thoughts storming inside his head.
’So far, the only thing I do not understand is the power of this dungeon. It was able to create rooms with beds and mirrors, resembling that of my old world perfectly. However, when I tried to make an atomic bomb blueprint earlier, it shut me out.’
This reminded him of the limitations.
’Which leads me to believe it has limits, and could possibly only handle small or non-complex mechanical things. Sigh, would have been cool if I could make tanks and bazookas in this world. Then again, this dungeon is still at B-Rank; it still has a lot of time to grow.’
’Unlike me. I am still stuck at Level 10, and I can’t seem to go any higher than that either.’
He suddenly opened his glowing red eyes.
’Right. That reminds me—’
Kai sat upright instantly.
The first thing he did was call forth his system. The blue glowing hue shone right in front of him, illuminating the dark room.
[Dungeon Summoning Station]
[Summon (Rank < 100)] Cost: 2,000 EXP.
[Summon (Rank < 500)] Cost: 5,000 EXP.
[Summon (Rank > 500)] Cost: 10,000 EXP.
Kai stared at the notification for a good while, his eyes immediately moving past the first two options.
For all he knew, the dungeon already had a way of producing low-level monsters passively. As such, spending precious EXP on fodder was useless.
His main target was the last one—the very same summoning option he had chosen to summon both Lyra and Carlotta, two of the strongest monsters in the Nameless Dungeon thus far.
[Total EXP: 230,000]
’Hmm... I can’t even pretend and act like this isn’t a huge amount. I can summon as many as I want without batting a single eye.’
He paused, tapping his chin.
’Of course, I need to be careful, since too much isn’t necessarily a good thing if you weigh the pros and cons. Too many powerful egos might clash. But I have eight floors, don’t I? I can have eight powerful summons near me, each representing a floor. I did say I would call them the Pillars.’
There was a silence as he continued to scroll through the system, noticing the multiple other features the dungeon had managed to acquire upon ranking up.
[Enemy Tracker] Description: This feature allows you to observe everything happening in the dungeon from any room or distance. Cost: 12,000 EXP to unlock.
[Monster Automatic Lore ] Description: This feature allows any monster that is produced by the dungeon to immediately understand their duty and know you as their Creator. No training required. Cost: 20,000 EXP to unlock.
[The Great Treasury] Description: This feature automatically allows the dungeon to collect and store worthy artifacts in the dungeon’s treasure room from any enemy slain by either you or your followers. Cost: 34,000 EXP to unlock.
And the list went on and on.
Kai sighed, resting his jaw on his fist.
’Well, there goes that. I knew it was too good to be true. The EXP goes fast when you start unlocking features. Meh, I can’t really complain much. My monsters have made me rather proud. If more players try to attack me, I am fairly sure they can handle themselves. Of course, not just any players, as that would start to be annoying with time.’
Just as he was about to move back to the Summoning Screen to spend his remaining points, he suddenly heard a timid knock on the door.
Immediately he turned towards the entrance, able to sense exactly who was standing on the other side.
He narrowed his gaze and then transformed into his human form to make the interaction less intimidating.
"You may come in."
"Ah—"
It seemed like the person was about to say something but instead stopped themselves, only to later open the heavy wooden door slightly.
Then, Emilya walked into the room.
She stood at the left corner, hugging herself, not daring to take even a single step further into the personal space of the Shadow.
While she did seem scared, just like she always had since stepping foot into the mansion, Kai could notice something different about her.
There was a hint of conviction on her face. A desperate resolve.
"Emilya. Why are you still in my dungeon? I made it clear to you, you are free to go. None of my subordinates will stop or lay a finger on you."
At first, it seemed like she wasn’t going to say anything.
But then, she suddenly fell to her knees, her head bowed and her hands clasped safely in front of her forehead.
"Please, Shadow Sir... allow me to remain here with you."
"..."
’Is she insane?’
Kai stared at her, genuinely baffled.
"Now, why would you want to do something that stupid? The only reason my monsters have not ripped you apart is merely because I haven’t given them the order to do so yet."
"Yes, Shadow Sir, I am aware of that. And for that, I am forever grateful that you would show someone such as myself that much kindness."
"..."
"I am weak. Spineless. And a traitor to my friends. They protected me from the Red Players, and I was unable to do a single thing to help them."
The pain in Emilya’s voice was quite obvious, especially with how her fingers were threatening to dig into the stone floor.
"I hated myself for how weak I was. And even more on the fact the killers would roam free, without facing justice. But you did it. You killed them. Every last one. I am forever grateful. I wish to remain here. I have no life outside, and no one is waiting for me."
She buried her head even more, on the verge of tears.
"Please. I have nowhere to go."
Kai kept his gaze on her the entire time, analyzing her HP bar, her stats, her trembling shoulders.
’Wouldn’t she be better off just going to the nearest village and starting a new life there? Then again, I guess I can understand how she feels.
Fitting into a new world isn’t that easy, especially when the world is ending. And I am sure she thought long and hard about this. After all, I am supposed to be the Virus, the Enemy of all players in Summoner Guild Online.’
Sigh.
"Even if I choose to help you in this very moment... I cannot guarantee that your life will be peaceful. My people are not fond of outsiders. You would be a sheep in a den of wolves."
Emilya closed her eyes tight, awaiting the rejection.
"Be that as it may, there is still a way you can live here."
Emilya raised her head to look at him, a bit of hope flickering in her watery gaze.
"You will have to die."
