Super Rich: I Can Hear Women's Inner Voices-Chapter 40: Inner Voice
Chapter 40: Inner Voice
"What are you standing around dumbly for? Come here." A domineering yet feminine voice called out from deeper inside the suite.
Not daring to delay, Jake hurried over.
There, poised elegantly by a round table, stood the stunningly beautiful and dignified Manager Mina. A glass table held a bottle of wine being aerated and an empty wine glass. Jake guessed Manager Mina had also just arrived, given her slightly travel-weary appearance.
Her flaxen hair complemented her exquisite temperament perfectly. Her flawlessly charming face was adorned with light makeup—her eyebrows meticulously groomed, exuding grace and sophistication. Her flower-like eyes shimmered with an inscrutable depth that Jake couldn’t quite decipher.
Her lips were a striking red, her nose tall and straight. Though she looked no older than her early twenties, her face carried a maturity far beyond that of a young girl.
Her snow-white swan-like neck connected to delicate pink shoulders, while her earlobes and neck were adorned with matching gold necklaces, giving her the air of a wealthy heiress. She wore nothing but a shoulder-baring, waist-cinching knitted dress, her ample bosom draped with a diagonal black cape.
Her slender waist resembled an incredibly supple willow branch, tightly cinched by a gold-inlaid black jade belt that wrapped around twice despite its short length.
The loose dress’s built-in safety shorts completely concealed Manager Mina’s full, round buttocks. She wore a pair of black suede high-heeled boots, between which a tantalizing stretch of black-stockinged thighs was visible. Her tall figure stood gracefully, her sharp and capable aura emanating naturally.
Her fingers were painted with black nail polish, and her right ring finger bore a platinum ring. This all-black ensemble made Jake’s eyes light up, reminding him of the nickname Cabel had given her—"Enchantress."
At first glance, her appearance alone seemed to fit the bill, and the confidence and maturity in her speech only reinforced the impression.
"Manager Mina."
Jake stood at 1.8 meters tall in shoes, slightly taller than Manager Mina.
Mina sized Jake up—his white T-shirt layered under a blue checkered jacket, casual brown cropped pants that made his legs appear even longer, and simple canvas shoes paired with his youthful, handsome looks.
He could easily rival celebrities in appearance, though his expression was somewhat stiff.
"What’s wrong? Nervous to see me?"
"No, it’s just my first time on a business trip."
"That’s normal. Everyone has to start somewhere." Mina sat down on a chair, her index finger lightly tracing the rim of the glass. "Take a seat. There are some things I need to discuss with you."
Hearing this, Jake quickly sat down.
The table wasn’t large, so Jake could easily reach everything on it. Naturally, he caught a whiff of a fragrant aroma.
A mix of wine and perfume eagerly invaded Jake’s senses, reminiscent of a fragrance Mia had once bought—subtle yet carrying a refreshing, almost minty coolness as it hit the nasal cavity.
Manager Mina sat poised across from him, her hands clasped beneath her rounded chin, her beautiful face turned toward Jake. Even the slight flutter of her long eyelashes was clearly visible. Her earrings dangled naturally, her hair cascading over her chest, exuding an older sister’s charm that was endlessly intriguing.
"First, congratulations on winning the selection competition." Her deep, soothing voice rang out.
"It’s nothing. I owe it to the company’s platform." Jake replied modestly.
"No need to be humble. Every employee standing before me is exceptional. This time, I hope you’ll follow closely and learn well."
"Of course, Manager Mina."
"Mm, have you reviewed the client materials?"
"Yes."
"Any thoughts?" Mina gently swirled the decanter, her eyes fixed on the wine inside.
Earlier, Manager Mina’s gaze had been locked onto Jake the entire time, making him feel somewhat stifled—like being called up in class to recite something while too nervous to speak coherently.
Now, however, the timing was just right.
Jake expressed his opinions in front of Manager Mina. Although he was confident in himself, he still understood the principle of not showing off too much in front of leadership.
His previous leader had liked it when people flattered him, so Jake would always leave a small loophole in his suggestions, waiting for the leader to discover it himself. In the end, the leader would have a look of sudden realization, which not only made him deeply favored by the leader but also prevented others from becoming jealous of him.
Jake had the ways of workplace survival all figured out.
After listening to Jake speak, Mina seemed to see right through him and said, "You don’t need to beat around the bush with me. Always holding back in your plans, are you waiting for me to correct you?"
"No," Jake quickly explained, but he also felt that Manager Mina was too sharp. He thought about trying to eavesdrop on her inner voices, but this woman’s thoughts ran deep.
Facing Jake, she didn’t reveal a single unusual "inner voice."
"Ahem, actually, I haven’t finished speaking yet." He fake coughed twice to ease the awkward atmosphere between them.
"Continue."
"It’s like this. Although this time you’re negotiating business with Aven, in the end, it’s not too different from how us salespeople operate. The only distinction is that the companies salespeople deal with are mostly smaller than Shigella, while Aven, as a local enterprise in Sahara, is not necessarily smaller than Shigella in scale. So, in terms of status, we’re practically on equal footing in this negotiation. What’s left is to see who has done more homework and who flinches in the transaction. Whoever hesitates first loses." Jake simply poured out all his thoughts.
"Oh?" Mina looked at him with newfound respect. "I didn’t expect you to be quite impressive."
Most people wouldn’t dare say such things directly to their superiors. If they encountered a decent boss, they might pretend not to hear it. But if the boss was petty, the lightest consequence would be making life difficult for them, and the worst would be firing them.
In the sales department, despite all the variations, the core remained the same. Unlike other departments, the work of the manager and the sales team members had similarities, but in nature, the level the manager operated on was far above that of the team members. The order prices were also beyond what small and medium sized enterprises could reach.
But some leaders thought they were extraordinary, believing their positions couldn’t be replaced by their subordinates.
Jake’s boldness stemmed from his certainty that Manager Mina wasn’t such a person.
Sure enough, Manager Mina showed no emotional fluctuations and simply continued, "Not bad. Even among the past champion team members who worked with me, you stand out far more than them. No wonder the gap between the champion and runner up teams in this competition was so huge."
"I don’t deserve such praise. It’s the result of the team’s joint efforts."
"Hehe, alright, no need for more words. We’ll see how the negotiation goes tomorrow. Also, I haven’t given you your reward yet." Mina’s beautiful eyes flashed with a hint of slyness.
Jake, who had been sitting properly, quickly declined upon hearing this. "The company has already rewarded us. Manager Mina, you don’t need to be so polite."
"Really? Every team member has one. You don’t want it?" As she spoke, Mina casually poured herself a glass of red wine. The deep red liquid swirled in the goblet.
Her eyes glanced at Jake, then her slender, jade like fingers held the stem of the glass, slowly swirling it. The wine turned from red to black, then back to red.
"Then... what is it?" Jake felt uneasy.
"Go get a glass from the wine cabinet." Jake happily complied.
"My reward is to have a drink with me. How about that?"
"I’d be honored." If clever Jake still couldn’t guess Manager Mina’s intentions, he’d be playing dumb.
"Cheers!"
Mina held her glass, tilting her head slightly back. Her moist red lips gently wrapped around the rim of the glass as the dark red liquid slowly flowed into her mouth. A small bulge of liquid slid down her fair neck, and her exposed collarbone trembled slightly with the motion of drinking. Moments later, a faint flush spread across her snow white skin.
Jake, in contrast, downed his in one go. The delicate taste blossomed in his mouth, far superior to any red wine he had drunk before. There was no doubt, this bottle of wine was definitely expensive.
Seeing Jake drink it so unculturedly, Mina scolded him, "No one drinks red wine like this. What a waste."
But it wasn’t that Jake didn’t know how to appreciate it. After spending time with Mia, his knowledge had grown considerably. However, Jake, being someone who understood society, knew that being alone with a female superior in a private room could lead to trouble, especially when Manager Mina was stunningly beautiful.
Jake thought Manager Mina was just being polite. Drinking quickly would allow him to leave sooner.
"Mmm, another glass?" Mina’s tone was gentle but carried an undeniable authority.
Jake couldn’t help but pour himself another glass.
