Super Soldier in the City-Chapter 2048 - 2111: I, Too, Wish to Summon the Sword from the West
"You don’t need to be afraid. Take my sword, for example. Although it has drunk deep in blood, it was always the blood of the deserved. In those days, I never considered myself as killing people, because those people were beasts, deserving of death. I haven’t killed anyone in these years, which is why you can feel the peacefulness of the Sword Soul, devoid of any violence."
"I see..." Su Lio nodded as if in understanding. She had wanted to ask why she couldn’t feel the killing intent in the sword, unlike what Elder Qingqiu had described.
Xu Shanshan chimed in, "Elder, you did the right thing. Kill those who need to be killed. Use the sword or other weapons to protect yourself and those you must protect." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Justice has always been relative. One man’s poison is another man’s honey. Li Yifei thought to himself, let alone those elders killing in such circumstances. Even he, over the years, had killed numerous people. Some were killed out of necessity, others needed to be killed to save many, like Su Lio’s grandfather. Even when knowing it’s someone you love, you kill them for a greater cause.
Su Lio also nodded in understanding, her fear dissipating somewhat.
Compared to Murong Yuanqing and Li Yifei, the treatment afforded to the two girls was noticeably better because Qingqiu actually invited them to stay for dinner, personally cooking for them. Xu Shanshan and Su Lio wanted to help, but neither knew how to cook, so Qingqiu shooed them out.
At that moment, Li Yifei was sitting on the edge of the platform, gazing into the distance, seemingly lost in thought. In reality, he was practicing the five sword forms in his mind. Though called five moves, they contained countless variations, and even though Li Yifei had memorized them, it wasn’t easy to fully grasp them in a short time. Each move held numerous changes and responses that needed to be thoroughly mastered.
The best way would be to find a sparring partner to practice continuously. However, since that wasn’t possible, Li Yifei could only rely on his imagination to keep deducing.
The two girls approached him from behind, and Li Yifei didn’t notice.
"Li Yifei, what are you doing?" Xu Shanshan nudged him, unable to hold back her curiosity.
"Hm?" Li Yifei turned his head, saw the two girls, and said, "Nothing. Why did you two come out?"
"Couldn’t help much and only got in the way, so we were sent out," Xu Shanshan replied openly, unabashed. She found Li Yifei sitting there intriguing, so she plopped down beside him.
"It’s cold on the stone. Be careful not to catch a chill," Li Yifei reminded.
Su Lio looked around and crouched down next to Xu Shanshan. She still needed to be cautious about such things, as getting sick would have severe consequences for her. Because of her constitution, even a small cold could become serious. During her time with the Li family, she received excellent care and, fortunately, hadn’t fallen ill. Li Yifei’s True Qi was also more compatible with her body, making her feel comfortable for a couple of days after each treatment, almost like a normal person.
The two girls had come to share their experience of holding Elder Qingqiu’s sword and communicating with the Sword Soul, as Li Yifei hadn’t had the chance to feel it. They saw him sitting there and assumed he was upset.
Li Yifei laughed upon learning the girls’ purpose and instinctively reached out to embrace them. He stopped midway, realizing it was Su Lio—not his wife—and, on the other side, his sister-in-law. He couldn’t be too familiar in front of Elder Qingqiu, as she seemed particularly serious about matters between men and women.
He awkwardly chuckled and said, "Thank you. Elder Qingqiu taught me a sword art, and I’ve been practicing it in my head."
"Oh, I see!" Su Lio nodded in understanding. Xu Shanshan winked playfully and said, "That doesn’t stop you from listening to us. Maybe it could help you."
Shanshan knows me well, Li Yifei thought with a smirk. Of course, he wanted to experience it. It wasn’t just something novel; it might genuinely offer insights. After all, other weapons don’t house Sword Souls, and even Li Yifei had never felt one in reality before.
"Ali, you go first!" Xu Shanshan said, turning to Su Lio.
Su Lio nodded, thought for a moment, and said, "At that time, I felt like I was in a vast room, as big as a villa. At the center of the villa was a fire, burning with a red glow. Within the flames seemed to be a person, but I couldn’t see them clearly. I could only vaguely feel that the person was speaking to me, smiling at me. So, when I greeted it, it would sense it and nod."
That was Su Lio’s impression, and Xu Shanshan continued, "It was a woman, whose appearance was unclear. The smile and voice seemed to transmit directly into my mind, not requiring actual sound or images. Perhaps because Ali hasn’t practiced before, I also felt the sword’s immense power. It’s a kind of power that’s difficult to describe. It’s not that strong, yet it triggers a sense of awe."
Li Yifei listened, nodding as they spoke. After the two finished sharing, he smiled and said, "I understand. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll try to experience it."
"Yes, I also intend to get such a weapon, imbued with its own soul and consciousness. How cool is that! And Elder Qingqiu’s Sword Controlling Technique, it’s just too handsome! One sword flies west, controlling the sword to fly like an immortal..." Xu Shanshan said with a lively spirit, bringing her index and middle fingers together, making whooshing sounds with her mouth as she gestured.
Li Yifei also laughed along. He wanted to learn this move too, and Qingqiu promised to teach him if he brought the giant sword.
The three of them chatted and laughed while Qingqiu prepared the meal. The dishes were simple and tasted mild, but there was a lot of rice. Each of the three women ate a bowl of rice, and seeing the half pot of rice remaining, Li Yifei nodded, understanding that this was all for him.
After finally finishing the meal, just as Li Yifei was about to clean up the dishes, suddenly Xu Shanshan and Su Lio’s cheers caught his attention. He poked his head out to see Su Lio and Xu Shanshan standing not far behind Qingqiu, watching her control a sword.
This was truly sword mastery. Qingqiu’s sword seemed to have a life of its own under her control as it performed several high-difficulty maneuvers.
No wonder the two women were cheering. Li Yifei was also excited; this was not a movie special effect but something happening right in front of their eyes, with no fakery involved.
Noticing Li Yifei had come out, Qingqiu stopped and pointed back, causing the sword to fly towards him. Li Yifei quickly dodged, wondering if Qingqiu would really let the sword attack him, given her known issues with men, something Li Yifei had figured out over the past couple of days.
Fortunately, the sword didn’t actually stab him. It circled around and disappeared.
Amazing, Su Lio’s eyes shone with admiration.
Xu Shanshan was also entranced, thinking how cool it would be if she could do that one day.
Li Yifei felt the same way, thinking it was very cool.
After Qingqiu finished her demonstration, she stood there quietly as if appreciating the sunset, or perhaps simply lost in thought.
Li Yifei turned back to finish washing the dishes. Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly heard a "whoosh" followed by a slight cracking sound. He quickly looked up, wondering if Qingqiu was up to something again. But this time, he heard two exclamations from Xu Shanshan and Su Lio.
What happened? Li Yifei quickly stood up and ran outside. He had been washing dishes and hadn’t been paying attention to what was happening outside. Hearing the two women’s cries, Li Yifei was worried something had gone wrong. When he got outside, he was stunned by what he saw.
Elder Qingqiu was standing in front of Su Lio, and Xu Shanshan was in an attacking stance. Su Lio’s face was pale, clearly very startled, while Qingqiu pointed her finger forward like a sword, a red glow emanating from her fingertip. In front of her finger was the black box Li Yifei had obtained, which Qingqiu had identified as a Mohist War weapon.
What’s going on? Li Yifei was utterly confused. At first, he thought Xu Shanshan had attacked Su Lio. Seeing the box, Li Yifei froze again. What happened here? Wasn’t the box inside the house? How did it suddenly fly out?
Realizing things weren’t as they first seemed, Li Yifei hurried over. Without needing Qingqiu to instruct him, he knew something was wrong with the black box. He quickly grabbed it, but the box had a tremendous amount of power. Despite exerting his strength, he couldn’t move it, and he even felt the box’s formidable force pulling towards Su Lio.
"What’s happening?" Li Yifei exerted his arms, muscles bulging, and used his True Qi to finally gain control over the box.
Su Lio, teeth chattering, poked her head out from behind Qingqiu and said in a trembling voice, "I... I don’t know either."
"Ali and I were talking, and the box just flew out," Xu Shanshan explained from the side.
Qingqiu continued to focus, pointing with one finger while using the other hand to perform a mystical gesture. Li Yifei resisted an odd force that once again assaulted him, and the strength of the black box suddenly vanished, causing Li Yifei to almost stumble.
Concerned the box might erupt again, Li Yifei clutched it tightly with both hands.
A few minutes later, Li Yifei understood the cause but still didn’t know how to comprehend the situation. According to Su Lio, she had been very envious of Elder Qingqiu’s Sword Controlling Technique, so she was talking about it with Xu Shanshan, secretly chanting for the sword to come to her like Qingqiu.
After chanting it a few times, the black box suddenly shot out of the room, heading straight towards Su Lio. Although it wasn’t fast, it was enough to startle her into a stupor. Xu Shanshan didn’t even have time to react; it was only Qingqiu’s quick response to block the box by moving swiftly in front of Su Lio.
After hearing Su Lio’s explanation, Qingqiu said something that left Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan dumbfounded—she said the Mohist War weapon had automatically recognized its owner.
