Super Soldier in the City-Chapter 2051 - 2114: Refusal
Despite acknowledging the owner, Su Lio had no True Qi, so she could only utilize a little of the Mohist War Sword’s power, relying mostly on the sword’s inherent strength. But this was satisfactory enough for Su Lio, fulfilling one of her wishes. She was incredibly happy for several days, and with Li Yifei’s help, she even got a sword sheath for the Mohist War Sword, allowing her to carry it on her back.
On this note, Li Yifei couldn’t help but marvel. When he held the Mohist War Sword, it seemed to weigh more than a hundred pounds, whereas Su Lio described it as completely weightless, akin to her own hand, requiring no strength to wield, and the sword could attack freely.
I am somewhat envious, Li Yifei muttered, watching Su Lio maneuver the Mohist War Sword through the courtyard. Su Lio couldn’t use the Sword Controlling Technique due to her lack of True Qi, even though Qingqiu taught her. In contrast, Li Yifei could use True Qi but lacked a fitting sword. The Blue Glow Sword was simple-minded, without a Sword Soul, and regular swords couldn’t achieve the harmony of mind and sword necessary for control. And the massive sword, suspected to be Ju Que, was sealed and required unblocking for use, preferably with recognition of the owner for maximum effectiveness.
For instance, Qingqiu’s sword served as the Formation Eye on the platform midway up the mountain, capable of participating in attacks and mobilizing all swords. Speaking of this, Li Yifei had to applaud Qingqiu with exaggerated admiration.
Although she had been living in seclusion for years, Qingqiu never ceased refining her sword techniques. The platform halfway up the mountain was carved out by her sword over time. Moreover, within the formation, Li Yifei knew several swords were buried among the hillside, some collected by Qingqiu over the years, others from challengers who left their swords upon defeat.
The entire mountain was a storage for treasured swords. Upon hearing this, Li Yifei’s first thought was exactly this.
Not only did it require a famous sword, but also a Sword Soul, ownership recognition was essential as well. Li Yifei, though trained in Sword Controlling Techniques, found it useless without these elements, at best summoning and returning a sword like Gu Yapeng did one day—Li Yifei could drive a sword into a tree without tossing it.
Su Lio was delighted. Not only did she fulfill a wish, but she also survived. Additionally, once the Mohist War Sword recognized her, it brought her benefits, aiding in her swift recovery.
It was an unexpected boon indeed, confirmed by Li Yifei upon inspection that the enhancement was beneficial for Su Lio.
Li Yifei also experienced the Mohist War Sword, getting a feel for the Sword Soul. Oddly enough, the sword’s soul appeared feminine, at least female. Li Yifei didn’t know what awakened its Sword Soul during the Mohist War Sword’s forging, but his communication presented the image of a cute little girl.
This occurred after four or five days; Su Lio had been in a coma for two days. Li Yifei held her down the mountain overnight, vigilantly for two days, ensuring her safety once she awoke before taking rest.
Knowing this, Su Lio said nothing, but felt touched within. The misunderstandings she harbored towards him had mostly dissipated. She still thought Li Yifei was overly flirtatious, with so many women at home and possibly others outside. Yet, living with the Li family, she found Li Yifei treated each wife with equal regard, her complaints faded away.
Especially after Li Yifei traveled to the United States to rescue Su Mengxin’s son, Su Lio considered the man reliable and dependable.
The little lass changed considerably these past months, her understanding shifted in several areas.
Watching Li Yifei, Su Lio gestured with her finger, the Mohist War Sword spun, cut through the air in front of Li Yifei, then darted away gracefully.
Li Yifei rolled his eyes, prompting Su Lio to giggle mischievously, seemingly intent on teasing him.
Li Yifei snorted, donned a stern expression, and said, "This is the last Sword Controlling Technique session today, already reached the limit, can’t use it anymore, got it?!"
"Oh!" this time Su Lio rolled her eyes, realizing the other was counting her sword usage. Her health was poor and without True Qi, she couldn’t bolster the Mohist War Sword’s strength herself. Her sword wielding was solely due to the sword’s inherent power, but frequent use would strain her body. Typically, while playing, she was advised not to exceed five attempts, past which Li Yifei, Xu Shanshan, and even Su Mengxin might remind her—once even the child mimicked a sound resembling ’five,’ leaving Su Lio pouting.
"Alright, wash up, let’s eat." Said Li Yifei with a smile.
They had stayed in the Capital City for several days. Once assured of Su Lio’s health, Li Yifei planned to return home, but Su Mengxin wished to stay longer; Li Yifei complied with her, while Elder Su, having regained health, enjoyed spending time with his grandchild.
After lunch, Li Yifei prepared to head to the airport with the two women. Elder Su merely suggested he visit more often and hoped Su Lio’s well-being would continue as her uncle.
Travel was smooth, a rarity without any traffic jams. Li Yifei and others reached the airport, boarded their private plane, and after an hour’s flight, landed in the provincial capital before ultimately reaching home.
By the time they got home, it was evening; the family mostly returned as Li Yifei entered the villa, spotting his eldest daughter waiting by the door. He chuckled, gently pinched her cheek, and asked, "Yufei, what’s up?"
"I just missed Dad. After knowing you’re coming home, I came ahead to wait for you." Replied Li Yufei.
"Haha, Dad missed you too!" Warmth filled Li Yifei’s heart. He crouched to hug his eldest daughter after being apart for a while, noticing she had grown nearly to his chest; quite tall for her age.
After a tender moment with his daughter, Li Yufei whispered in his ear, "Dad, Mom misses you too."
Hmm... Li Yifei was slightly taken aback; he thought about his sparse interactions with Ning Xin’er over the months due to constant travels. On returning, he lacked in fulfilling his duties at home. Hearing his daughter, Li Yifei smiled and said, "How about Dad goes with you to find Mom?"
"Sure! Mom just returned yesterday." Li Yufei gleefully replied.
Accompanying his daughter to Ning Xin’er’s villa, Li Yifei opened the door, seeing Ning Xin’er descend the stairs. She seemed surprised at seeing Li Yifei, adjusting her hair, she said, "When did you get back?"
"I just arrived home!" Li Yifei approached and embraced Ning Xin’er, whispering softly, "I’ve been away for several days again, thank you for your hard work."
"It’s all right, not too taxing. Besides, I’ve grown accustomed to this lifestyle." Ning Xin’er smiled gently, tucked her nose against Li Yifei’s neck, inhaled deeply with evident satisfaction, and said, "Alright, the child is here."
Looking back, Li Yufei was already covering her eyes.
The three sat together for a while. Li Yifei observed Ning Xin’er’s slight fatigue, feeling a pang of sorrow. At such a young age, the troubled girl endured much responsibility. Li Yufei was raised single-handedly during his absence, carrying countless burdens and hardships. Now united, their time together remained limited, despite Ning Xin’er retreating from public life, she faced significant challenges behind the scenes.
Li Yifei sighed lightly after leaving Ning Xin’er’s villa. While he wished to change this situation, his own hectic life imprisoned him with obligations.
His phone had vibrated several times, calls rejected by Li Yifei. He saw it was an anonymous caller. His special phone typically blocked untraceable software, yet several guesses formed on who could obscure the number.
Contemplating, his phone rang again. Li Yifei answered, greeted by a deep voice asking, "Is this Hawk?"
Of course, Li Yifei glanced skyward and breathed out, "Yes, it’s me!"
Calls like these rarely meant good news. Unsurprisingly, a high-ranking official from the Central Military Region contacted him. Li Yifei listened to the invitation and promptly declined. No way! He was long retired, discharged initially, having a vast estate now; why serve them again?
Especially after realizing he should alter his familial absence, the request involved foreign travel, consuming several days transit alone.
Li Yifei refused outright, shutting off his phone to avoid further disturbances. He’d seen enough of such shamelessness before.
Doing some stretches, Li Yifei gazed upward, whistling as he entered Na Yi’s villa for an important matter—consuming the concoction Na Yi prepared to assess if it could suppress the Worm; a pressing issue needing resolution regardless of outcome.
