Just as he was thinking, Li Yifei’s body suddenly stopped, his eyes not blinking for quite a while. Directly in front of him, he suddenly discovered a few people and a not-so-large boat. It didn’t look like a domestic vessel; Li Yifei recognized it as likely a fishing boat from the Philippines. The hull was very damaged, with a few people lying on the shore, but when Li Yifei approached, he discovered these people had been dead for quite a few days. However, what made Li Yifei frown wasn’t just this; it was that each of the corpses had a large hole in their chest, with all the blood long dried up and the sun-dried flesh not showing signs of decay.

Seeing that the people were wearing fisheries administration uniforms, Li Yifei placed his sword and the fish aside. The wounds on the people weren’t caused by weapons but looked as if...by a person, no, perhaps an animal’s sharp claws directly tore open the chest and grabbed out the heart.

Hmm, maybe the damage occurred after they reached the shore, Li Yifei thought. He looked at the cabin, which belonged to a considerably small fisheries administration boat. The lower space wasn’t large, and the cabin door wasn’t closed. Glancing in, he saw the inside was pitch black, some parts submerged in water, with the banging resonating from within.
Was it a fish? Li Yifei frowned, no, not a fish. He definitely heard a sound similar to fingernails scratching. What if it’s a person...? After a brief thought, Li Yifei began to cautiously walk down.
Huh, this is quite the find. As soon as Li Yifei descended, he saw a few clothes by the cabin door. He grabbed a shirt and casually put it on. As for the pants and shoes, he saw they were also facing him inside the cabin, so it wasn’t a wasted trip, he thought.
The source of the banging was at the back of the cabin, facing away from the entrance. Li Yifei wasn’t in a hurry to go down, taking a look at the water inside the cabin—it wasn’t murky, nor were there any bodies.

From afar, Li Yifei heard a very unpleasant squeaking. He also saw the creature those eyes belonged to was brandishing sharp claws, aiming right at him.
Li Yifei quickly raised his dagger; if the creature dared to come at him, he wouldn’t hesitate to strike down.
The creature didn’t pounce, and Li Yifei soon realized it was trapped by something, or perhaps hung up, which was why it didn’t attack. Going back up to the deck, Li Yifei found a pair of pliers, then went down again and opened up a few holes in the cabin. With the incoming light, Li Yifei could finally see what the red-eyed creature was.
It was something akin to a monkey, only similar though, as its appearance was terrifying. The face was twisted, and if not for the body, just the appearance might make one think it was a monster from a horror movie.
The eyes were large and genuinely red, not just a trick of the light. Its mouth was full of long tusks, with little hair on its body, and its skin was dark, slick with something unknown.
Li Yifei further noticed its claws. It had five fingers, four in front and one at the back, resembling a human hand but with more widely spread fingers. At the tips of its fingers were sharp nails, about five or six centimeters long. The banging sounds Li Yifei had heard earlier were made by this creature. Perhaps it heard noise from outside and made sounds to lure Li Yifei.
Truth be told, even without knowing what it was, just seeing its horrifying face gave Li Yifei no goodwill. As soon as Li Yifei approached, the creature swung its tail at him.
Only then did Li Yifei notice the creature’s tail had a bone spur. Had he not dodged quickly, being struck could have wounded him.
"Oh, you’re quite something, aren’t you?" Li Yifei prodded the monster monkey with his steel rod, watching as it opened its mouth wide, biting into the rod and crunching as if it bore a grudge against the steel.
Li Yifei also discovered that the strange monkey had been impaled by a steel spike, which was directly inserted into the ship cabin, and this end of the steel spike had a flat head, preventing the monkey from struggling free.
"Wait here to die, I can’t help you!" Li Yifei shook his head, searched around the cabin for a while, but found nothing useful except for a few old guns. There was some food, but unfortunately, after soaking in salt water for too long, it was inedible. Finally, taking two apples, Li Yifei exited the cabin, discarded the steel spike, and prepared to retrieve his sword and seafood. Suddenly, he stopped, darted to the corpses again, examined the wounds, and remembered the strange monkey pinned in the cabin, a chill ran down his spine.
Damn, these people were killed by such a terrifying monkey! Thinking of this, Li Yifei immediately returned to the cabin, only to see the strange monkey continuing to roar at him, seemingly intent on ripping him apart.
"Die, damn it!" Li Yifei cursed, lifted the steel spike, and stabbed it into the monkey’s chest, ending its life.

Li Yifei withdrew the spike and stabbed again on the right side, but to his bewilderment, the monkey still didn’t die, nor did it bleed much.

Generally speaking, the heart of mammals is located in the chest cavity, protecting it from deforming, or being compressed, avoiding impact injuries, but this monkey... Damn monkey, Li Yifei tried four different spots before finally discovering the monkey did have a heart, but it was very small and positioned neither left nor right, but in the middle. With the last stab, Li Yifei finally pierced the monkey’s heart; this exceptionally ugly monkey writhed a few times, then tilted its head and stopped moving.
Strangely curious, Li Yifei noticed the monkey stopped struggling, withdrew the spike, and lifted the monkey down, not daring to use his hands directly to pull the monkey’s corpse off; something felt uncanny about this monkey.
Carrying the monkey’s corpse, Li Yifei went up to the deck, just about to throw the monkey overboard, when he suddenly felt a jolt of uneasiness, promptly shielded his arm with True Qi just as the supposedly dead monkey opened its big mouth, aiming to bite his arm.

But that’s not all; the strange monkey, knocked flying, rolled a few times on the ground, one leg apparently broken, yet still struggled to get up, this time attempting to run into the forest rather than attack Li Yifei again.
Damn it, bite me and think about escaping? Li Yifei’s eyes widened, his feet exerted force, swiftly catching up with the strange monkey in a few leaps, mercilessly swinging the spike to blow the monkey’s head apart; this time it didn’t get up again.
This is truly bizarre, tossing the spike aside, Li Yifei felt this creature wasn’t a common monkey, heart shattered, organs wrecked, yet capable of running so fast.
Recalling those dead bodies on the shore, Li Yifei realized how these monsters killed.
Given the monkey’s speed, ordinary people caught off guard wouldn’t stand a chance; the razor claws of these creatures could slash your skin if fortunate, or penetrate directly if not.
Getting back on track, Li Yifei now carried a pack, discarded the fish, took the shells and oysters; fish were plentiful but shellfish could be eaten with Xu Shanshan on-site, or used to start a fire. In his backpack, Li Yifei found two pistols, along with over a hundred rounds, making up for the pistol he lost when hunting the big fish.
The journey onward, Li Yifei was far more cautious, considering there was already one of those monkeys, it’s likely there’s a second one, maybe even... a troop of monkeys!
After all, these creatures are typically social, rarely appearing solo, Li Yifei thought, and after walking several hundred meters, he suddenly heard someone shouting for help. It was a man’s voice, prompting Li Yifei to dash toward the sound.
