Super Soldier in the City-Chapter 2089 - 2152: True Qi in the Mirror
Xu Shanshan nodded, and Li Yifei walked over. He couldn’t keep thinking about that pool; otherwise, his mental state could easily encounter problems.
There were swords on the rack, better than Li Yifei’s sword, even surpassing the Blue Glow. The sword was three feet long, and the tassel looked new. Li Yifei couldn’t help but reach out and take the sword from the rack.
With a clang, he held the hilt in one hand and the scabbard in the other, drawing the sword out. A cold gleam flashed, and Li Yifei squinted his eyes. The blade emitted a chilling aura, somewhat overwhelming.
"Good sword, indeed a good sword!" Li Yifei couldn’t help but praise.
With a flick of his wrist, the sword shot forth cold light. With a swish, a not-so-dense Sword energy blasted out, but when it landed on the ground, it silently disappeared.
"This sword is much better than Blue Glow." Xu Shanshan praised from beside him. She couldn’t stand the pool either. The more she thought about it, the more shock she felt, so she gritted her teeth and stood up, deciding not to look anymore.
"You try it." Li Yifei handed the sword to Xu Shanshan, gesturing for her to make a couple of slashes.
Xu Shanshan slashed a few times and said joyfully, "This sword is much better than Blue Glow, I can feel it."
"Then give me Blue Glow, and you use this one," Li Yifei said.
"Huh? This... this isn’t our sword."
"Now it is yours." Li Yifei pushed the sword into Xu Shanshan’s hand, took her Blue Glow, and placed his original sword on the weapon rack. He didn’t like the other long weapons, so he didn’t study them further.
Xu Shanshan was a bit confused; she just took the sword like that? Seeing her like this, Li Yifei turned his head and whispered with a smile, "Isn’t this our purpose for coming in? We were not meant to feel grateful without taking some stuff; otherwise, our entrance here would be meaningless."
"Uh... that’s true." Xu Shanshan blinked and agreed with Li Yifei’s words.
"Besides, if there were people here, we’d be stealing. But if there’s no one, then it’s not stealing." Li Yifei spoke with a tone of justification.
Xu Shanshan recalled their previous adventures, wasn’t it always like this? Although the place was spotless, it didn’t seem like anyone lived here, so she gladly accepted the sword and gave Blue Glow to Li Yifei.
In this way, their equipment saw some changes, allowing them to face danger more effectively.
To Li Yifei personally, this Blue Glow was indeed better than his previous sword.
"For now, forget about that pool. Perhaps we’ll find the answer!" Seeing Xu Shanshan still looking back at the pool, Li Yifei held her hand and walked in. Their front faced a room with open doors, the main hall directly opposite them, and it appeared there were other rooms on the sides.
Behind them were naturally two closed doors.
There was no one inside, at least Li Yifei didn’t sense anyone. When they reached the hall door, they saw a fully furnished interior, spotless as if preserved through time. No matter how many years had passed, it still stayed clean.
Stepping inside, Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan looked around as if they were in a family home from hundreds of years ago. Everything inside was entirely ancient in style, and Xu Shanshan pointed to a few items, saying, "Looks like it should be Tang dynasty furnishings. I’ve seen these in the museum."
"Hmm, let’s see if there are any treasures." With that, the two split up to search, releasing their senses to perceive while looking around. The space was large inside; they saw some antiques, but neither Li Yifei nor Xu Shanshan were interested in those. What caught their attention was a mirror.
It was a Glazed Bronze Mirror. Modern people might find such mirrors outdated; they don’t reflect clearly and don’t seem valuable. However, a thousand years ago, this would have been considered a magnificent mirror. Aside from its decor, what truly drew their interest was the mirror itself, as it faintly emanated a trace of True Qi—or not just a trace. As their minds sank deeper to perceive, they discovered the mirror contained extremely strong True Qi.
"Too bad it’s so large. If we carried it, we wouldn’t be able to do anything else." Xu Shanshan regretfully observed.
But she was right. Li Yifei also shook his head and regretfully said, "No idea the principle behind it, yet it holds such dense True Qi. If we took it home, it would definitely benefit our cultivation."
Regrettably, they turned to search for other things. Suddenly, Li Yifei halted as a thought flashed through his mind.
Xu Shanshan, pulled by his motion, asked quickly, "What is it?"
"The feeling from this mirror, I’m sort of familiar with..." Li Yifei said.
"Where have you seen it?" Xu Shanshan still didn’t understand.
"Do you think the True Qi within here resembles the Innate Vital Energy on Mount Kunlun?"
With this reminder, Xu Shanshan’s eyes also lit up. Looking at the bronze mirror, she said, "Husband, after you said that, it does seem a bit similar. But... how do we absorb it?"
"Try first and see if it can be absorbed," Li Yifei suggested.
"No, no, you do it. I already have Innate Vital Energy, it doesn’t matter. Husband, you try it. If it can truly be absorbed, wouldn’t that mean we have an extra means of protection?" Xu Shanshan refused.
Indeed, Li Yifei thought it over and, like last time, pressed his hands against the bronze mirror. A surge of dense True Qi erupted from his hands and the surface of the mirror but was not absorbed.
Unconvinced, Li Yifei drew his sword and cut open his palm. Blood dripped onto the bronze mirror, quickly absorbed by it, yet still no absorption occurred.
"Huh?" Trying both methods failed to yield results, making Li Yifei a bit impatient. He recalled words from several seniors, yet none spoke of such True Qi absorption or rarely mentioned it, leaving Li Yifei without effective guidance.
After a few more attempts, Li Yifei shook his head.
Xu Shanshan also felt disappointed. After Li Yifei’s tries, she attempted using her own Innate Qi to communicate with the mirror’s Innate Qi, but there was no effect.
"Strange," Li Yifei was inspecting behind the bronze mirror when suddenly there was a loud crash outside. The courtyard door was kicked open, and Shen Tianfang and others rushed in. Upon seeing Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan, the four immediately showed rage and pointed at Li Yifei, angrily shouting, "What are you doing?"
The sudden door kick startled Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan as they hadn’t sensed anyone approaching. Shocked by the shout, they quickly stood and turned around, but Xu Shanshan and Li Yifei forgot about the sword in their hands, especially Li Yifei’s sword, which was unsheathed. He swung the long sword, its blade striking the bronze mirror with a clang.
Although copper is soft and prone to oxidation, it shouldn’t be damaged from a mere sword scrape, but as they turned, the person-high bronze mirror cracked with a snap. With the sword touching the mirror, Li Yifei suddenly felt as if electrified.
His eyes bulged, his body tensed, and began to tremble slightly.
"You!" Seeing Li Yifei shatter the bronze mirror, Shen Tianfang and others grew furious, charging at Xu Shanshan and Li Yifei.
Noticing Li Yifei’s oddity and his reaction, Xu Shanshan had intended to rescue him, but with people charging and filled with killing intent, Xu Shanshan hurriedly drew her sword to block them.
Li Yifei seemed as if electrocuted, his body shaking uncontrollably. At the same time, his body felt torn apart, the pain making him want to scream, yet no sound came out.
Facing these opponents, Xu Shanshan realized they were aiming to kill.
The whizzing punches came forth, Xu Shanshan focused fully, wanting a quick resolution due to her uncertainty about Li Yifei’s situation behind her.
Unexpectedly, though she had a higher realm compared to Shen Tianfang and others, her actual combat skill was inferior to these battle-hardened soldiers. Strangely, their capabilities had improved remarkably.
Within seconds, Xu Shanshan faced the siege from four people, whose attacks seemed driven by extreme anger.
"Die!" a team member shouted, striking Xu Shanshan’s face with his palm. Xu Shanshan performed an iron bridge maneuver, dodging the strike, and simultaneously thrust her newly acquired sword.
Puff! Xu Shanshan’s sword slashed a nearby team member’s chest, tearing his clothing and seemingly wounding his body a bit. The flowing blood was black, but Xu Shanshan paid it no mind amidst the fierce confrontation.
Taking a moment to glance at Li Yifei, Xu Shanshan kicked out but failed to recover in time, getting kicked by Shen Tianfang.
With a thud, Xu Shanshan staggered back two steps, her calf’s shin experiencing sharp pain as if colliding with steel.
"Die!" Zheng Feihu roared, red-eyed, attempting to bypass Li Yifei and pull him down.
Xu Shanshan hurriedly used her sword to block him, yet Zheng Feihu paid no heed, his fists as hard as iron, crashing against Xu Shanshan’s sword, resembling an enraged bull, and ramming into Li Yifei.
"Husband!" Xu Shanshan hadn’t expected their crazed actions. She wanted to turn and rescue Li Yifei but was too late, seeing Zheng Feihu raising his fists and crashing into Li Yifei.
"Boom!" A scene that made Xu Shanshan’s eyes burn with rage unfolded. Still convulsing, Li Yifei was knocked away by Zheng Feihu, slamming into a wall several meters away, causing it to sway as Zheng Feihu followed suit.
"Husband!" Xu Shanshan desperately swung her sword, forcing Shen Tianfang back, and sliced open another team member’s stomach. Though a shallow cut, it halted their advance, enabling Xu Shanshan to retreat them and rush to save Li Yifei.
