Chapter 2134: Chapter 2197: Turmoil in the Zhao Family

This time, Second Master Zhao heard more clearly. He turned around with hazy eyes looking at Li Yifei, feeling more familiar with him. He stopped moving, looked at Li Yifei, picked up a bottle of wine beside him, took a couple of swigs, and said, "Who are you? Did I call you here today? Damn it."

"I see Second Master Zhao often forgets things. After all your scheming against me recently, do you not remember who I am?" Li Yifei walked over to the drunkard, picked a bottle of champagne, twisted it open with his fingers, poured half a glass, and started to drink as well.

Second Master Zhao shook his head vigorously to clear his mind. When he looked at Li Yifei again, his body suddenly shivered. Even in his stoned state, Second Master Zhao still remembered Li Yifei.

"You... why are you here, I... someone, someone wants to kill me!" The toxins in Second Master Zhao’s body cleared up a lot all of a sudden. He instinctively grabbed a wine bottle to smash at Li Yifei, but unfortunately, with his aim and strength, it was impossible to hit Li Yifei. Li Yifei sidestepped, flashed in front of Second Master Zhao, grabbed his neck, and said coldly, "You, Second Master Zhao, I’ve let you go several times, but not only are you ungrateful, you still schemed against me. Do you really think I’m that easy to bully?"

"Heh heh..." Even with his neck being choked, Second Master Zhao wasn’t afraid at all. Instead, he laughed deliriously, soon breaking into maniacal laughter, pointing at Li Yifei and shouting, "What the hell are you? Just a retired soldier. You think you’re somebody with a bit of money? Just a Nouveau Riche. I can deal with you in minutes."

"Haha, that’s right, I’m just a Nouveau Riche, while you, Second Master Zhao, are indeed a legitimate aristocrat, with noble roots!" Li Yifei nodded and said.

Second Master Zhao laughed up to the sky, his eyes bloodshot, and said nasally, "Get lost, unless you want to be killed when I lose my patience, I’ll kill you immediately!"

"And how would you kill me?" Li Yifei asked curiously.

"With a gun, turn you into a beehive, minced meat, haha, kill you, you damned thing, and nothing will happen to me, haha!" Second Master Zhao laughed but abruptly stopped, as Li Yifei had tightened his grip on his neck, suffocating him.

Second Master Zhao weakly grabbed Li Yifei’s arm, trying to push him away, but even if he weren’t high, he couldn’t push off Li Yifei, let alone now, being so stoned.

After a while, Li Yifei suddenly released his hand. Second Master Zhao fell to the ground with a thud. He didn’t have time to yell in pain, grabbing his neck with both hands, breathing heavily, like a broken bellows.

Li Yifei’s eyes were devoid of any emotion and said, "You want to kill me, and coincidentally, I want to kill you too."

"You... dare!" Second Master Zhao was still in a frenzy, not believing Li Yifei would actually kill him. If he were sober, he would probably be scared to death since Li Yifei wasn’t just making threats; he really intended to kill.

Glancing at the table, Li Yifei noticed that this guy was using high-purity stuff, and judging by the scene, he’d had a lot. So, Li Yifei grabbed a syringe, filled it up, went back, took hold of Second Master Zhao’s hand, and injected it into his thigh.

A few minutes later, Li Yifei walked out of the villa, certain that Second Master Zhao was dead. The small wild model he had defiled wasn’t dead, although it’s likely she’s ruined. Parents in the world feel sorry for such a thing; who would want their woman to be so messed up by others? Li Yifei initially wanted to kill the little wild model too, but thinking of this, he couldn’t bring himself to do it, hoping she could quit drugs and start a new life, though the hope is slim. Once touched by such things, it’s hard to get clean.

Second Master Zhao is dead. Li Yifei didn’t feel wrong about his actions. He learned from Zhao Xu that this guy’s whole plan was to completely destroy the Li family, sparing none. So why should Li Yifei show any pity towards him? Although at first, he planned to expose Second Master Zhao’s crimes as revealed by Zhao Xu, draw police attention for investigation by handing over the evidence.

Just like their plan, but seeing Second Master Zhao’s state, Li Yifei decided to take action. Such a person living is a real societal danger.

That night, Li Yifei flew back to the provincial capital, where security was already waiting for him. By the time Li Yifei got home, it was late at night. Almost all the women were asleep, but when passing by Su Lio’s villa, he saw her room light was still on. A thought struck Li Yifei, he took out his phone and texted Su Lio, "Why aren’t you asleep yet? Is something wrong?"

Su Lio replied shortly, "A little, but it’s okay. Have you... returned?"

"Yeah, just got home. I’m just downstairs. How about opening the balcony door? I’ll jump up. Don’t be afraid, let me check on you." Li Yifei texted back, already under Su Lio’s balcony.

About a minute later, Li Yifei saw a silhouette appear on the balcony glass. The curtains were pulled open and Su Lio opened the window door. Li Yifei jumped up to the second-floor balcony.

"Good evening." Li Yifei looked at Su Lio and noticed that her face wasn’t pale at all; in fact, it was slightly flushed. As he followed her gaze downward, he understood a bit more—this girl was probably feeling shy. After all, opening a window for a man in the middle of the night felt somewhat improper.

Li Yifei, undistracted, went inside, closed the window properly, and placed his hand on Su Lio’s wrist, channeling True Qi to help examine her health. He found that there was nothing wrong; the cold had been suppressed within the Dantian, and her cold was long gone.

Everything seemed normal, except for the chill in her hands. Li Yifei released her wrist and said, "There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong. Have you not been resting well lately?"

"It’s just... I’ve been sleeping late, and then I easily wake up startled," Su Lio said softly.

"Startled awake?"

"Yes... I keep having nightmares. I don’t know why. I don’t usually read horror novels or watch scary movies, but I often have terrifying dreams."

"That’s an issue. You’ve been mentally exhausted lately, thinking about too many things, which inevitably leads to dreaming more. You just woke up from a nightmare, correct?"

"Yes, I had a dream where I suddenly turned into a ghost and didn’t have a heart, so I wandered around looking for it..." At this point, Su Lio’s expression became very frightened. Li Yifei could easily imagine the profound fear she felt upon waking up in an empty room after such a nightmare.

Sighing inwardly, Li Yifei said, "Let me sit here and think about some things while you sleep. Once you fall asleep, I’ll leave."

Su Lio pursed her lips and said, "No need, I’m okay. I’ll sleep when I get tired. You’ve been busy all day and must be exhausted."

"I’m fine. I slept on the way, and I need to think about things anyway. You should sleep; I won’t do anything inappropriate." At that moment, Li Yifei realized that Su Lio glanced at him, and he figured it would have been better not to have said the last sentence, as it only caused her to worry.

Su Lio moved her lips and nodded after a few seconds, returned to bed, and pulled the quilt over herself. Meanwhile, Li Yifei sat on a chair next to the bed and took out his phone to refresh information.

As Su Lio closed her eyes, a sudden thought popped into her mind, "If I were his woman, he wouldn’t have to sit beside me exhausted like this; he could simply lie in bed next to me." The notion scared her, causing her body to tremble, and a strange feeling surged through her. It took a while for her to exhale, as if she had been holding her breath for a long time. Her cheeks flushed and she stealthily touched them. Su Lio bit her lip, trying to dispel that ’terrifying’ thought.

Li Yifei found himself deep in thought, although he wasn’t sure about what exactly. His mind wandered endlessly, contemplating everything without noticing Su Lio’s subtle movements. Eventually, Su Lio’s breathing evened out, and Li Yifei turned to look at her with a smile. Despite her seniority, this young girl remained innocent at heart, her emotions plainly visible on her face.

"Sleep well, goodnight," Li Yifei whispered, standing up and preparing to leave through the bedroom door. Just as he reached the door, he suddenly heard Su Lio’s breathing become rapid again. Turning back, he saw her lying in bed with furrowed brows, seemingly caught in another nightmare. As he listened to her mumbling, he initially thought she was saying "don’t go," but only after a second did he hear her say "bad dog."

Imagining she was dreaming about being chased by a dog, Li Yifei couldn’t help but be amused. He released the door handle and walked back to the bed, looking at Su Lio, deciding to stay; he squeezed her hand gently. Though he couldn’t change her dreams, he could help her cope with the nightmares in other ways.

After Su Lio calmed down, Li Yifei decided not to leave, since it was almost morning. He moved the chair closer and rested his head on the edge of the bed, gradually drifting asleep as well.

In the early morning, Su Lio awoke from her dreams. The first thing she saw was someone leaning against the bed, holding her hand. Her initial reaction was shock until she realized it was Li Yifei. Then, she recalled the previous night’s events. Hadn’t he said he would go to sleep? Why was he resting beside her bed?

Su Lio didn’t detect any signs of violation; at least, she didn’t feel any discomfort. However, she remained unaware of what had occurred during the night.

As Su Lio moved, Li Yifei awoke, lifting his head and noticing her gaze on his hand. He quickly released it, smiled, and explained, "You had several nightmares last night. Besides waking you up, the only thing I could do was using True Qi to help relieve the stress. And since it was almost dawn, I ended up staying."

"...Thank you. I didn’t know!" Su Lio felt a warmth in her heart as Li Yifei explained, finally understanding what had happened the previous night.
