Chapter 783: Chapter 784: Niece by Marriage

He Jinxia pondered for a moment and said, "So how is Director Qian going to handle this?"

Luo You: "He’ll give his niece by marriage a stern talking to, and it should all be resolved by this afternoon."

He Jinxia nodded, then suddenly paused, her movements halting. Hmm, niece by marriage?

Luo You seemed to understand her thought process and sighed helplessly: "Yes, that’s his niece by marriage. Otherwise, where would the young lady get the courage to confess her love? She’s good-looking and comes from a decent family. Honestly, she’s quite a good match for Gong Hongyu, who is still relatively unknown."

He Jinxia shook her head and chuckled lightly, her tone meaningful, "Brother Luo, that’s only for now. Once ’Special Action’ is released, it might not be the case anymore."

Her conversation shifted as she continued: "Besides, for a romantic relationship to work, it has to be mutual."

"In Country L, everyone is under great mental stress, tense all over, with no mood to worry about love.

"Even if someone wanted to date, they’d have to wait until after the movie is finished and we’re back in Huaxia, where they can get to know each other properly. Gong Hongyu did the right thing by rejecting her."

Luo You: "I didn’t say his rejection was wrong, but he didn’t handle the second confession well.

"He could have been a bit more callous, then at least they could still be on nodding terms. No one can be a saint, and it’s not possible to hurt someone’s feelings yet expect to guide them out of it so perfectly."

He Jinxia was noncommittal, "It’s a personality issue; some can turn a blind eye and live in peace, while others can’t. They feel a bit guilty, so they want to offer some guidance."

She spoke indifferently: "Regardless, what’s done is done. The priority now is to resolve this quickly and get the crew back on track.

"The weather is scorching, water is scarce, and I feel like my skin can’t take it anymore. We need to finish shooting and return to Huaxia as soon as possible."

Luo You nodded, "It should all be resolved this afternoon. After all, she is his own niece by marriage. Director Qian will wake her up; now’s not the time for love affairs."

Unfortunately, retribution always comes so swiftly.

An hour later, after lunch, Director Qian rented a car to head to the county with his niece, apparently planning to send her away.

He Jinxia furrowed her brows, glancing at Luo You as if to say—Didn’t you say Director Qian could handle this himself?

Luo You coughed a few times, helplessly spread his hands, replying—He also didn’t know what was really happening.

Apart from Luo You and Jinxia, other people in the crew were still unaware of how the situation with the female staff member would be dealt with. They were chatting and discussing among themselves, enjoying the rare break.

He Jinxia actually wanted to ask Gong Hongyu, but seeing him constantly lost in thought, staring at his phone, she thought better of it and decided not to ask.

A few hours later, Director Qian returned, bringing someone with him. He did not bring back the previous female staff member; instead, he had recruited a local temp from Country Y.

Director Qian gathered everyone and introduced the new addition to all, and it was decided that the previous staff member would breach the contract and leave, preferring to return to Huaxia despite a mountain of debt.

In front of everyone, Director Qian said, "If anyone else wants to leave, speak up today. Leave if you must, but don’t wait until the production is halfway through to decide to go, wasting time and resources. We all have contracts, and if you breach them, everything will be handled according to the contract. Don’t expect me to be lenient."

The staff members looked at one another, but none dared to speak up, including the other female staff members who had cried their eyes out during the day. They were now silent as cicadas in winter.

Seeing this, Director Qian dismissed everyone, but not before emphasizing, "If you’re sure you want to leave, come to me tonight. Don’t come after tomorrow because it will be too late."

"Everyone knows that filming in L country is tough, and every member of the crew is fully committed to the task at hand, working together to overcome every hardship. If you plan to leave, bring it up sooner rather than later, we can part on good terms. Don’t wait until tomorrow when we start shooting to say you’re leaving, or don’t blame me for being impolite then."

After Director Qian left, the others finally dared to disperse.

He Jinxia spoke with Luo You in a quiet place, "It’s good we pulled someone back in time to fill the gap. You mentioned speaking with Gong Hongyu before, and I asked you to wait. Today, I noticed he seemed off all day. Why don’t you go talk to him now?"

Luo You pondered for a bit, then shook his head, "No need."

Before He Jinxia could ask why, Luo You tilted his head forward, saying, "Look, he’s already approached Director Qian on his own. Director Qian is more suited to handle this than I am."

Looking ahead, Gong Hongyu was walking with Director Qian, moving slowly as if chatting while walking.

The next day, the filming crew got back on track.

Gong Hongyu also found his stride again, making few mistakes in his scenes with He Jinxia, and staying focused during fight sequences, performing as expected.

He Jinxia relaxed a bit, and once again plunged into the grind of all-nighters and overtime with the crew.

Occasionally, the whizz of stray bullets would be heard, sending shivers down one’s spine, but once the shivering stopped, one had to act as if they heard nothing and get back to filming with renewed spirit.

The one thing she remembered while absorbed in filming was that she had to report in with Sheng Yan every morning and night, despite their time difference. Often she’d receive his morning messages at midnight, but they kept at it happily nonetheless.

Then there was the bi-monthly one-hour family video call to report her safety, as her daily life continued to be highly regimented.

One morning after shooting an early scene, Luo You suddenly handed her a phone.

He Jinxia, puzzled, took a look and found that the "Happy Sunshine Daily Joy Group" chat on WeChat was bustling with activity. The chat had been quiet since most members had gone to participate in "Rescue 5 Hours," which had put the group on hiatus.

Could it be that the show had wrapped up and thus the "seal" was removed?

Hearing the flurry of chat notifications, she raised an eyebrow and checked the date and time, feeling a brief sense of displacement. It was already November... 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Yu Yanyu: [Good morning, everyone.jpg]

Qin Siqin: [Kid, it’s already afternoon, and you dare to say good morning?]

Yu Yanyu: [I say it with ease because I came back from the show yesterday and immediately picked up my beloved game console for an all-night battle, playing till five in the morning without dying once. Just woke up now after a perfect eight hours, healthy and rejuvenating [cool]]

Ren Xiao entered the chat belatedly, with a reminder: [I heard that premature issues can lead to aging and balding in men, and impot...]

Yu Yanyu: [Damn! Little bro, can’t you say something nice about me for once?]

Ren Xiao: [I’m just respecting the facts [a sincere smile from an honest person.jpg]]

Yu Yanyu: [You’re so honest, I’ve lost track of how many times you’ve tricked me on the show, and those stories could be told for days and nights on end!]

Qin Siqin: [Support Ren Xiao, that silly dog definitely needs a lesson [smile]]
