Chapter 2413: Chapter 2403: One Arm

This battle lasted only a few breaths of time, but almost all the house servants were terrified out of their wits in an instant. A so-called pretty boy made a move and killed nearly half of them.

Although the remaining people greatly outnumbered Long Yan, they had no courage left to fight him and turned to flee for their lives.

"Don’t panic!"

Although Chen Long exhausted all his efforts to stop the fleeing house servants, these people had come for the wealth and glory of the Emperor Clan. When it came time to risk their lives, every one of them gave up.

"Damn it!"

Chen Long cursed under his breath, while Long Yan continued standing at the doorway, utterly unaware of the staggering impact of collapsing the opposing defense with a single move. He quietly watched the group flee past him without raising a hand to intercept them.

Long Yan knew that with his current strength, stopping so many people was impossible. These house servants may have looked down on him before, but they hadn’t committed any real wrongs. He just needed to root out the mastermind behind all this.

"Looks like you’ve ended up all alone."

Watching the stranded Chen Long, a trace of mockery curled at the corners of Long Yan’s lips as he sneered.

However, Long Yan remained vigilant. It didn’t matter how many of that disorderly rabble came at him. The truly dangerous threat in the Emperor Clan was the Twelve Guards, though now there should only be eight left.

"Hmph, don’t get cocky. Guards, gather!"

Chen Long shouted, and several shadows dropped from the rooftops. These were just a few guards nearby, with plenty more rushing their way over.

If he waited for everyone to gather before making a move, even with the Martial God Array, it wouldn’t be an easy task. Long Yan decided to strike first and gain the advantage.

He pulled out his long knife from his waist. Because of those few house servants earlier, Long Yan’s Dragon Tooth was still dripping bright red, fresh blood from its tip. This shocking sight caused even the battle-hardened guards of the Emperor Clan to freeze, unsure of how to react.

"Long Yan, now half the Twelve Great Imperial Guards have gathered. If you kneel and accept death, you might still leave a whole corpse behind. Maybe during the holidays, someone might even come pay respects."

Chen Long spoke indifferently to Long Yan, seemingly ignoring the fear evident in the faces of the guards behind him. His comment provoked a cold laugh from Long Yan.

"Today, I just want to see how many I can kill. Who’s tired of living? Step forward and face death."

The icy voice caused the guards standing opposite to shudder. Although Long Yan still looked like the same "pretty boy" as before, the fear he instilled now was inexplicably chilling.

Long Yan’s words even made Chen Long, their leader, take two steps back. The raw terror was unmistakable, not a pretense. Left with no other choice, Long Yan dashed toward Chen Long’s position.

The knife tip scraped across the ground, creating a bright red spark. The blade, gleaming coldly, swept through the air like a vengeful spirit closing in to claim Chen Long’s life.

"Hah!"

Chen Long let out a light exhale, his sword whipping upward just in time to deflect the strike. The sheer force from the impact sent Long Yan’s knife crashing down beside him. A crisp snap echoed in the air as Chen Long’s left arm was severed at the root with Dragon Tooth. The arm fell to the ground, spilling fresh blood onto the dirt.

Not just Chen Long was stunned—his guards behind him were left dumbfounded too. In merely one exchange, the strongest among them, Chen Long, had lost an arm to Long Yan?

The fear brewing in their hearts deepened several degrees as Chen Long let out a scream. His sword slipped from his grasp and landed on the ground. Initially, he underestimated Long Yan, but he never expected him to be this terrifying. In one move, he’d lost an arm.

"Damn it! Attack him now!"

Having paid the price for his arrogance, Chen Long could only blurt out a command before retreating. Long Yan was far from done and darted toward Chen Long, intent on finishing him off while he was weakened. Suddenly, a hook claw flashed before Long Yan.

The other guards finally snapped out of their daze, surrounding Long Yan in a tight circle. Their relentless assaults came at him like a carousel of deadly strikes.

With no choice but to retreat momentarily, Long Yan delivered a heavy kick to Chen Long’s back, vaulting out of the encirclement. Avoiding the guards’ attack range, he prepared his next move.

Chen Long’s eyes turned blood-red. As the head of the Twelve Great Imperial Guards, he hadn’t suffered such a grievous injury in years. He couldn’t understand how Long Yan’s weapon could be so terrifying. Initially, he thought his years of physical conditioning could withstand a single blow, even if it meant trading wounds. Clearly, he’d overestimated himself.

"Kill him for me!"

Even though everyone knew that losing an arm meant Chen Long was now a cripple in the long term, as the nominal leader of the Twelve Guards, they still obeyed his orders.

But Long Yan keenly sensed that their attacks had lost the lethal intent found at the start. Their compliance seemed half-hearted at best—a clear sign of resistance against Chen Long’s command. Long Yan was more than happy to exploit this.

Though both groups battled, their strikes lacked fervor. Chen Long was fully aware of his subordinates’ unwillingness to fight wholeheartedly, as well as Long Yan’s calculated restraint. Yet, he had no recourse. If he survived this ordeal, someone would undoubtedly replace him as the leader of the Twelve Guards.

Unwilling to accept this fate, Chen Long could only hope the fight would end in mutual destruction between Long Yan and the guards. Then, after recuperating, he could reclaim his position as leader. But neither side seemed inclined to fight earnestly. His anxiousness grew, yet he remained powerless.

Seeing his already weakened men falling behind, Chen Long could only retreat for the time being. If these guards fell, their next target would surely be him. Choosing self-preservation, he fled to regroup and bide his time for revenge.

Chen Long didn’t even bother to retrieve his severed arm, leaving it behind as he bolted away. All the pledges of loyalty he’d spouted before mattered nothing now—it was all bullshit. When his life was on the line, nothing mattered more than saving himself.

Long Yan casually sent a few guards flying away with heavy blows. Each time one was struck, they remained motionless, lying on the ground pretending to be dead.

"You sure run fast."

Despite chasing after Chen Long immediately, Long Yan found no trace of him. The courtyard had grown eerily silent, void of the bustling crowd from before. Even the layers of house servants had vanished entirely.

The guards approaching from elsewhere likely caught wind of the situation and hid away, waiting for the outcome to unfold. Lingxi wasn’t their daughter, nor did her future marriage hold any benefit for them. If Long Yan won, they would scatter; if Di Lingtian won, they could feign ignorance and continue serving the Emperor Clan.

In the end, the result didn’t matter much to them. Countless pairs of eyes lurked in the shadows, watching to see the final outcome.
