Chapter 2452: Chapter 2442: Failed Ambush

Long Yan gently pushed a small gap in a hidden compartment above his head. Although the light in the corridor was dim, Long Yan could still barely make out the environment here.

The room was filled with the spider webs from the beginning, and a giant creature was creeping in the corridor. Its massive body filled the room, its chest still rising and falling, its large body trembling slightly.

Long Yan recognized this creature at a glance. He had seen it once before. The creature sleeping soundly in the corridor was indeed a Ming Zhu. The person on the wooden cabinet wasn’t wrong; this thing indeed came from the Netherworld, but just from its outskirts.

This creature hides in a corner of the Road of reincarnation. If someone hears a voice calling you from the Road of reincarnation, it’s probably this creature. According to Long Yan, this creature, when mature, is only about the size of an arm and, unlike other nimble spiders, the Ming Zhu is a clumsy creature.

Not only is it slow, but it also reacts sluggishly, often only realizing too late that the soul has already gone far. However, the Ming Zhu, being a Netherworld creature, can speak human language and will always follow behind a person. If you look back, the Ming Zhu will catch up and devour you, which is how it got its name.

Additionally, the Ming Zhu has the ability to control the souls it devours, sometimes using souls or dead bodies to call out a person’s name. If you turn your head, you’ll be eaten by the controlled soul. However, it’s considered one of the lower-level monsters on the Road of reincarnation, and most people wouldn’t notice it.

But the Ming Zhu before him was unusual. The largest Ming Zhu was no bigger than an adult’s arm, yet the one before Long Yan was tens of meters long. Even the Spider Queen Long Yan saw in the Death Domain was only half its size.

"Damn, how long has this thing been alive?"

Long Yan cursed under his breath. This Ming Zhu had likely become a spirit. The roar just now wasn’t a warning to Long Yan but a call to the souls and dead bodies it controlled to attack him while it slept here.

Long Yan quietly opened the hidden door and slipped out, crouching as he exited. Looking at the massive creature before him, its eyes still shut, the corridor, which was originally quite spacious, now seemed extremely narrow with this Ming Zhu here.

Silently moving behind the Ming Zhu, a mischievous smile appeared on Long Yan’s lips.

"Let’s see if Grandpa can give you a thrill."

It’s well known that the Ming Zhu fears fire because flame belongs to yang energy, which is a natural nemesis to the Ming Zhu. Long Yan pointed the torch in his hand at the Ming Zhu’s butt, planning to give it a scorching surprise.

"Long Yan... Long Yan..."

Just as Long Yan was about to act, he heard someone in the empty corridor calling his name. The voice came accurately from behind him, and in an instant, the entire room fell into silence.

"I... damn it!"

Long Yan gritted his teeth, cursing aloud. He realized he had been tricked. Calling someone’s name is a unique ability of the Ming Zhu, and he had fallen for it.

Upon closer inspection, there wasn’t a Ming Zhu’s butt in front of him but rather dozens of eyes, each as small as mung beans, intently staring at him. Although Long Yan didn’t have a fear of clusters, being stared at by so many eyes made him feel quite uneasy.

"Screw you!"

Long Yan threw the torch towards it. Despite the dozens of eyes watching him and reacting instantly, it was mentioned earlier that the Ming Zhu was a clumsy creature. Even upon seeing Long Yan throw the torch, it couldn’t dodge in time, and the torch hit the Ming Zhu’s face squarely.

"Squeak!"

A loud noise echoed through every corner. Originally, Long Yan wanted to take advantage of the Ming Zhu being scorched by the flame to finish it off, but he heard dense footsteps coming from all around the corridor.

This Ming Zhu had grown so large by eating so many people, so the corpses it controlled were terrifying. Long Yan thrust a spear forward, not caring if it hit, before turning and jumping into the narrow path, running for his life.

Understand that the Ming Zhu already occupied the entire narrow path, and with the additional undead bodies it controlled, there was barely any room in the corridor. Yet, the narrow path was already filled with corpses.

After all, Long Yan’s entrance to the narrow path wasn’t exactly graceful. The long spear in his hand was like a flash of lightning in the darkness; the Magic Gun in his hand was truly wielded to a flawless state. Instantly, the heads of four or five corpses were knocked off with a single blow, leaving the headless bodies to fall to the ground.

Fortunately, the beginning of the narrow path was extremely tight; even a single person passing through was difficult. Although these corpses had turned into White Bone, it was still hard for two to pass through together.

Though the Ming Zhu could control the corpses, controlling them one by one was clearly beyond it, especially given its slow mind.

Long Yan had only made it halfway through when he heard a collapse behind him, followed by the sound of wooden planks crashing to the ground. The angry roar of the Ming Zhu came from afar, followed by the sound of approaching footsteps.

The action with the Magic Gun in his hand sped up even more. Any corpse that didn’t touch him was completely ignored by Long Yan. He forced his way through, cutting a bloody path as he swung his spear to toss aside a corpse. Long Yan front-kicked a White Bone to pieces, using the magic spear in front of him as a lance. In an instant, a White Bone was stuck at the spearhead.

Even though the White Bone flailed its limbs, it couldn’t touch Long Yan at all. The latter used this corpse as a Shield to bash through obstructing corpses, some of which included blue souls, seemingly controlled by the Ming Zhu.

Seeing the exit was near, Long Yan gritted his teeth. In the cramped Space, he soared into the air, stepping onto the head of a White Bone, grabbing the edge of the exit with a backward hook.

Long Yan spared a glance at the frantically pursuing Ming Zhu behind him. Despite its massive body, it was exceptionally familiar with the Road. With seven powerful legs, it pushed aside the obstructing corpses and chased after Long Yan.

Why seven legs? Long Yan clearly saw the green blood flowing from one of the Ming Zhu’s front legs, indicating that Long Yan’s spear had struck the Ming Zhu’s front leg.

Having no time to celebrate, Long Yan flipped out of the narrow path, kicking away a corpse lunging at him, running straight toward the Doorway. He’d already suffered enough; this damned gate better not screw him over.

Fortunately, with a gentle push, Long Yan opened the gate, glancing back once more before dashing madly toward the central open space.

"Once I reach the spacious area, I’ll kill you, damn it!"

Glancing at Li Mu’s corpse covered with his own clothes, Long Yan hurried toward the Main hall.
