Chapter 2463: Chapter 2453: Silencing

When Long Yan’s voice reached the Mayor’s ears, the latter’s expression instantly changed, his entire face turning a livid blue.

Long Yan knew that he had already touched the Mayor’s bottom line. This fat pig must be hiding something. If Long Yan exposed it, it would surely affect the Mayor’s position.

"What exactly do you want?"

The Mayor’s voice carried a hint of tremor. Long Yan just smiled, then spoke in a voice neither light nor heavy.

"I just want the Mayor to handle this case fairly. After all, making a false accusation would be a loss to the Mayor’s reputation, wouldn’t it?"

Long Yan winked at the Mayor, an action that made the Mayor boil with anger, even making his voice hoarse.

"Let’s go."

The Mayor turned around, not paying attention to his group of Guards behind him, he went downstairs alone, nearly stumbling several times from the stairs due to his dazed state, his mind blurred even when he was under the sunlight again.

"Sir..."

The Guards looked at each other, then released Rat 2 and ran downstairs without bothering about any murder case, chasing after their Master.

"Thanks to this Sir for your life-saving grace."

Rat 2’s hands were freed from shackles, and he directly knelt on the ground, bowing to Long Yan, startling the latter. How did this ceremony happen for no reason?

"Sir’s life-saving grace, Rat 2 will never forget."

It was said that the Demon Race is a magical race, one that excels far beyond the Human Clan in both holding grudges and repaying kindness. Today, Long Yan saved Rat 2’s life, a debt Rat 2 would remember for a lifetime.

"This doesn’t matter. Tell me what is going on with this Woman."

Long Yan nonchalantly nodded. Today he had offended the Mayor, but he was not worried, for compared to the living Mayor, this Woman who knocks at midnight was more terrifying.

Rat 2 steadied his mind, and a helpless smile leaked out of the Mouse’s head. He really didn’t know where to begin, as this Woman was indeed an old guest of the Inn.

The Woman’s identity traced back decades; back then Rat 2 hadn’t cultivated into a basic human form, merely a Monster with spiritual essence in the Cannibal Inn.

This Woman was the Landlady of the Inn, possessing some charm that drew many guests due to her beauty. But from one day onwards, the Cannibal Inn suddenly became desolate.

Rat 2’s eyes glittered as though reminiscing, his entire body shivering into a bundle. The Landlady eagerly tried to lure guests, but to no avail.

Finally, on that day, it was also the last group of guests the Landlady received. This group included another identity, the son of the Mayor at the time. Drunk, he tried to flirt with the Landlady, but the Landlady, being virtuous, directly slammed into a wall and died, terrifying the Mayor’s son.

Due to his Father’s influence, the Landlady’s husband couldn’t seek justice. Instead, he was crippled by the Mayor’s men. Without business, the Inn missed the best treatment time, leading to the husband’s leg being ruined.

Around this time, Rat 2 cultivated into enlightenment, understanding quite a bit about these matters. When the Landlady died wearing a set of red clothes, coinciding with the full moon and sudden death, it was almost certain she would become a ghost, and if she did, she would naturally be the most vicious kind.

Upon finishing his tale, Rat 2 trembled violently, revealing that the Landlady didn’t just vanish—they proved she had started to develop into a Demon.

Long Yan listened quietly as Rat 2 spoke. He knew that Rat 2’s words were not lies, and indeed true. If the Landlady became a Demon, it’s unpredictable how many in the Town would perish.

If it were Long Yan, perhaps he could manage, but creatures like ghost demons have no trace, posing a threat to the Mercenary Town.

As for the mercenaries, they might have experience dealing with venomous snakes and beasts, but against such entities, they would be helpless.

Once a Fierce Ghost steps into the realm of ghost demons, it’s no longer a regular menace, akin to humans, entering the realm of immortality. If it continues cultivating, becoming an Immortal is not out of the question.

However, the Landlady’s indiscriminate slaughter in the Inn suggests she has lost her mind. If she gathers everyone’s resentment, even Long Yan might flee.

Knowing the terror of ghost demons, Long Yan had no solution. As the ghost demon only emerges at night, he planned to act then, speculating that the ghost demon would come searching for him again.

Then, seeing the two corpses on the ground, Long Yan furrowed his brow. It was evident the Mayor knew them, but because they were in the corridor, he couldn’t see their faces in the pool of blood. Only upon reaching the center did the Mayor recognize them, and then hurriedly left the room, framing Rat 2.

Long Yan examined the two corpses, their looks ordinary, like people who wouldn’t make waves among a crowd. Their clothes were a mix of red and white, and Long Yan remembered hearing their argument, one even told his companion to be quieter.

Long Yan didn’t know who they were, but from last night’s exchange, he deduced they had a task linked to the Mayor, so he scared the Mayor with words and saved Rat 2.

"It seems that if I don’t find the Mayor first, the Mayor would find me."

Long Yan coldly chuckled as a series of Black-clothed men sneaked up the stairs to stand outside the door of Long Yan’s room.

"Sir, the Mayor surely wouldn’t do this?"

Rat 2, still unaware of the danger outside, spoke in bewilderment.

The Black-clothed men outside put their hands on the hilts of their swords, the glinting cold light from the blades igniting tension in the dark Inn.

"Of course he would. If I know about this matter, he has to eliminate me, or else exposing him would be a fatal blow."

Long Yan maintained a gentle smile, standing up from his stool. The teacup he held fell with a crisp sound, shattering into countless pieces.

"Since you’re here, come out. Listening to your heartbeats is making my ears itch."
