Supreme Hunter of Beautiful Souls-Chapter 158: I will accept all three.
It was a three-storey building entirely dedicated to magical objects, a veritable paradise for any arcane artifact enthusiast. From enchanted rings that sang with the voice of sirens, to quills that wrote themselves under divine inspiration, to capes that turned into wings with a well-placed whisper.
As soon as they entered, the group was enveloped by an aroma of ancient parchments and enchanted dust. The walls were lined with gleaming shelves, and little charms flew from one corner to another like playful fireflies.
Amelia disappeared for a few seconds behind a display case of magical jewelry and returned with a mischievous smile, holding a small silver ring with a light green stone in the center.
"You should buy this one, Kael. It's a lie detector ring!" he said, nudging it lightly with his elbow. "That way you'll never be fooled by students or teachers again!"
Kael looked at the ring, then at her, and arched an eyebrow with a half-smile. "Or maybe I'll never be able to lie to you again..."
Amelia paused for a second, her face turning red as if she'd been hit straight in the chest by a heat spell.
"I-I didn't mean it like that...!" she muttered, looking away.
Irelia, who was watching with her arms crossed near a shelf of floating grimoires, let out a low, elegant laugh. "Pathetic. But... adorable."
On the other side, Sylphie was quietly exploring a section full of magical musical objects. She stopped in front of a small music box made of pale blue crystal. It was delicate, covered in almost invisible runic inscriptions, as if the piece itself wanted to remain discreet.
She opened it carefully... and the box began to play. The melody was soft, ethereal, carried by notes that seemed to echo from a distant time. There was something sad but deeply beautiful about the music, like the sound of a longing that doesn't yet know where it comes from.
Kael moved closer, listening in silence. The music changed subtly as he stood next to Sylphie, the notes dipping into a melancholy, sweet tone.
Sylphie smiled softly, without taking her eyes off the box.
"It looks like you..." she said, almost in a whisper.
Kael was silent for a moment, absorbing what this meant. There was no judgment or pity in her gaze, only understanding.
"Beautiful..." he replied, without looking away from her.
Sylphie lowered her gaze, embarrassed, but smiled again now with that warm glow that only someone who understands the pain of others can offer.
Irelia watched them from afar, her eyes narrowing slightly. And Amelia, now recovered from her previous comment, was lightly patting a magic bag that was floating around her, pretending not to have noticed anything.
Kael sighed. He just wanted a quiet day... But there, surrounded by these three forces of nature, perhaps tranquillity wasn't an option.
And, strangely, he didn't mind.
After so many stops, the four of them decided to end the day more peacefully. They climbed up to the Floating Garden - a park magically suspended above the city, connected by crystal bridges and illuminated by thousands of luminescent flowers that floated gently in the wind.
The sky above was a starry carpet, and the air had a soft scent of lavender and enchanted manichae. Singing fountains whispered ancient melodies in forgotten languages, as if the garden itself had a soul.
Kael leaned back on a white stone bench, his eyes closed, letting the warm mana-laden breeze envelop him. For the first time in a long time, he allowed himself to relax.
Amelia was the first to approach. Without asking permission, she laid her head on his shoulder naturally, letting out a long sigh.
"Hmm... this is worth more than a hundred witchcraft lessons," she murmured, her eyes squinting. "If I'd known running away with you was so good, I'd have done it sooner."
Kael smiled, but didn't say anything. He just let her stay there.
On the other side, Sylphie sat down gently, smoothing her light dress over her knees. She didn't dare touch him, but she came close enough for their shoulders to almost touch. Her eyes were fixed on the floating lake ahead - a mirror of water suspended in the air that reflected the stars and created illusions of dancing constellations.
With her fingertips, she drew small circles in the air, following the music of the fountain. Her voice came out low, almost shy.
"It's so quiet here... as if the world outside didn't even exist."
Kael opened his eyes slowly, looking at her. The bluish light from the flowers made Sylphie's face seem even softer, almost ethereal.
"Maybe this is the only place that really makes sense," he said.
Further away, Irelia watched the three of them in silence. She was sitting on a marble pillar surrounded by living vines, which gave her an almost noble air. Her eyes followed Kael's every gesture intently - as if recording everything in her memory.
She smiled, one of those restrained smiles, as if she didn't want to admit how special this moment was for her too.
"You three look like children after a day at the fair," she commented lightly. "But I admit... this place has its charm."
Kael tilted his head slightly, relaxing even more.
"For a moment, it doesn't seem like we have wars all around us... or secrets hidden in every shadow."
"Or prophecies, or secret orders, or curses," Amelia added, laughing softly.
"Or hearts beating fast when they shouldn't," murmured Sylphie without realizing she had spoken aloud. When she noticed, she opened her eyes wide and covered her mouth with her hand.
Kael turned his face slowly, his eyes meeting hers.
Sylphie turned as red as the tips of her ears. "I'm sorry. I-"
"It's okay," said Kael, before she could panic.
There was a comfortable silence.
The breeze blew between the golden-leaved trees. A group of butterflies made of light danced around them, attracted by the serenity of the moment. One of them landed on Kael's shoulder, and he didn't even move.
There, among the magical glow of the flowers, the gentle sound of the singing waters and the company that warmed something in his chest... he finally felt it.
Kael remained silent for a few seconds, listening only to the soft sound of the fountain in the background and the faint beating of Amelia's heart against his arm. He looked at Sylphie, then at Irelia, and finally at the starry sky above, where magical constellations moved lazily as if the universe was also taking a day off.
Then, with a calm, almost casual tone, he asked: freewёbnoνel.com
"Do you... really like me that much?"
The question fell on the garden like a paralyzing spell.
Amelia froze in place, her head still on his shoulder, her eyes widening as if she had been caught reading a forbidden diary. Sylphie stopped drawing circles in the air, her face immediately taking on a deep shade of pink. Irelia, while trying to keep her composure, became visibly tense, and looked away from a flower that clearly didn't need so much attention.
The silence that followed was almost comical.
"Q-What kind of question is that?" stammered Amelia, suddenly sitting up straight, trying to pretend she wasn't half a second away from collapsing.
"You're... unbearable sometimes," grumbled Irelia, crossing her arms tightly, but the slight twitch at the corner of her mouth showed that she wasn't as impassive as she wanted to appear.
"I..." Sylphie began, but her voice faltered before she could complete any sentence. She just lowered her face in shame, pulling up the sleeves of her dress as if she could hide inside them.
Kael let out a low, sincere laugh. He put his arms behind his head and looked up at the sky for a moment before saying, in a light tone, but full of something deeper:
"As long as you accept each other... I'll accept all three of you."
The silence was replaced by quiet chaos. None of them answered immediately, but the eyes of all three were fixed on him, each with a unique reaction: Amelia, perplexed and almost jumping out of her seat; Sylphie, red to the eyeballs, looking between him and the others; and Irelia, who snorted, but with a slight sparkle in her eyes that hadn't existed before.
Kael turned his face away again, smiling sideways.
"But you should know that there are a few more in the queue..."
All three turned to him at once.
"WHAT?!" they shouted in unison.
"B-well... I'm popular with the older women, blame Eva!" he said, raising his hands as if he had just disarmed a trap.
Amelia pushed him lightly on the shoulder, grumbling: "You have a special talent for being annoying."
"Are you sure you want to take on all three of us? Because we could drive you mad." Irelia gave him a sharp look, but there was a slight blush on her cheeks that she couldn't hide.
Sylphie just smiled - shyly, but happily. The sparkle in her eyes said everything she didn't have the courage to say out loud.
Kael let out an exaggerated sigh, closing his eyes again.
"Maybe I'm already crazy. But it's crazy... good."
The floating garden seemed to smile with them, its flowers flashing in brighter colors, as if approving of the moment. The fountains in the background continued to sing, and a light breeze passed through, gently lifting everyone's hair.
