The garden of the mansion was bathed in a soft light, reflected by the last colors of the sunset. The scent of flowers and herbs mingled with the cool afternoon air. In the center of the space, Kael and Irelia lay on the ground, exhausted and covered in thin layers of sweat, their clothes disheveled and dirtied. Their bodies still moved sluggishly, but their eyes were sparkling, reflecting a happiness that only shared effort could bring.

Irelia lay on her back, wearing a wide, breathless smile, her disheveled hair spread across the ground. Kael, beside her, was also breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling rhythmically. They had just finished another intense round of training, and both were satisfied with what they had achieved. The exhaustion on their faces did not lessen the joy reflected in their expressions.

When Adalric arrived in the garden, the scene he found almost made him stop for a moment. He observed the two, sitting on the ground, almost appearing like comrades who had fought side by side in a hard battle. Irelia was still smiling as she tried to catch her breath, and Kael seemed to be in an extreme state of exhaustion, but his eyes gleamed with something beyond fatigue...

"How long have you two... been fighting?" Adalric asked, with an intrigued smile, watching the two of them, his eyes scanning the sweat and dirt marks on their faces. They truly seemed to have given it their all.

Irelia, still with her breath quickened, looked at him and smiled proudly. "Ah... how many hours...?" she said, still not fully recovering her breath.

"Six hours..." Kael replied, trying to speak between heavy breaths. "Adding all the days you were gone... about 60 hours of training..." He sat up with difficulty, his muscles aching, but still with a satisfied look on his face.

Adalric raised an eyebrow, admiring their determination. The garden around them was calm, except for the sound of the leaves rustling in the trees and the exhausted sighs from the two young warriors.

"You... seem quite close," Adalric commented casually, observing the scene with an enigmatic smile. He noticed that Irelia was, in fact, more relaxed than usual. Her cheeks were flushed, not just from exhaustion, but from a genuine happiness. Her eyes shone like never before, reflecting a stronger bond with Kael.

’If I didn’t know she’s obsessed with swords, I’d almost think she’s in love...’ he thought to himself, before hearing his niece.

"Ah... just..." Irelia began, trying to compose herself as she sat up with some difficulty. "We trained a lot..."

Kael, beside her, still panting, nodded with a satisfied smile. Both of them were so focused on their training that, for a moment, the rest of the world seemed to disappear. There were no distractions, no thoughts other than the fight and the learning they shared.

Adalric, with a look of understanding, observed the two and, for a moment, let his thoughts wander. He realized how intense the bond they had formed was.

’If you weren’t kids, I’d almost think some wrong things seeing this scene...’ he thought for a brief moment but quickly cleared his mind, not wanting to misinterpret the situation.

Changing the subject, Adalric approached Kael with a more serious tone. "Boy, we need to talk," he said, his voice now firm and authoritative.

Kael, still with irregular breathing, rose with effort and sat up, already knowing that something important was about to be said. He looked at Adalric, adjusting himself to pay attention. The scene of training, the laughter, and the friendship faded into a silent tension, as if they were entering a moment of deeper reflection.

Irelia, noticing Adalric’s serious tone, also sat up more carefully, though she still seemed to be absorbing the effects of the training. She looked at Kael, and their eyes exchanged a brief moment of silent understanding – something was about to change, and both knew it.

"We have a place to go tonight," Adalric announced, crossing his arms and displaying a slight smile. His voice carried a casual tone, but there was something in his eyes that indicated the importance of what was to come. "A certain someone wants to see you, Kael. And let me tell you, she’s very excited. Also..." He gave a stern glance at the two young ones. "I need you both to not cause any trouble. Understood?"

Kael and Irelia, still sitting on the ground in the garden, exchanged a quick look, a mutual expression of theatrical offense taking over their faces. They needed no more than a second to align.

"Why do you think we’re barbarians?" they said in unison, their voices synchronized with a tone of feigned indignation.

Adalric raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the response. He shook his head, stifling a laugh. "Oh, I didn’t say that..." he started, his voice carrying a provocative tone. "But, considering I spent the last week away and found you two practically passed out in the garden, covered in dirt and exhausted from training, I can only imagine what you’d be capable of in a social setting."

"Exhausted because we were working hard, unlike certain adults who disappear without explanation," Irelia retorted, crossing her arms and giving a challenging look.

Kael just laughed but quickly added, "And don’t worry, Adalric. We won’t cause any trouble... as long as no one provokes us." He flashed a sidelong smile, his gaze filled with a mix of confidence and mischief.

Adalric dramatically sighed, as if dealing with two impossible children. "You two are a lost cause," he commented, turning toward the mansion entrance. "But I hope, for everyone’s sake, you can keep your composure tonight. Especially you, Kael. This person has high expectations."

"Who is she?" Irelia asked, curiosity evident in her voice. She stood up, dusting off her training uniform, her gaze following Adalric’s.

Adalric paused for a moment, looking over his shoulder with an enigmatic smile. "Someone who’s very interested in meeting you, or rather, already knows you..."

Kael just raised an eyebrow, resigned. Adalric’s mysterious tone always made him suspicious, but he knew it was pointless to insist for more details. The only thing left to do was wait for this event to unfold and find out for himself.

However, Adalric didn’t miss the chance to tease a little more. He took a dramatic step back and pinched his nose with his fingers, making a theatrical face of disgust. "Now, how about you both take a bath and... get ready?" he suggested with a mischievous smile. "Because, frankly, you both smell. Did you know that?"
