Chapter 50: Chapter 50 - The Phoenix Bloodline

Her hair, once ghostly white and dry like brittle snow, shimmered with a gentle glow. Slowly, color returned, strand by strand, coloring into a soft gold. Her skin, pale and worn just moments ago, now glowed with a soft, ethereal light.

Su Jie stood motionless, breath caught in his chest. Before him was no longer the weak little girl.

The aura surrounding her now was vast, mysterious, like the silent depth of a mountain lake. It pressed against the senses, noble and commanding.

Then, without warning, the ground trembled. A second shockwave exploded outward from her body, sending a ringing boom through the hall.

Golden light crackled around her, and lotus petals, shimmering and translucent, spiraled out in all directions. They danced like falling stars before dissolving into the air.

A divine pressure swept over the hall.

Su Roulan broke through to the Golden Core realm.

She had crossed the threshold in a single breath, stepping from the mortal path into a new stage of cultivation.

Her eyes opened slowly, revealing clarity and calm. Yet, they still held the innocence of a little girl.

"Father," she said, her eyes gleaming with joy. "I can cultivate now."

Su Jie could only stare, overwhelmed. The girl who once lay disheartened before him now stood like a reborn phoenix.

Xie Ren rose from his seat and clapped his hands once.

"Well then," he said with a faint smile, "my fourth disciple has finally been born."

Su Roulan took a deep breath, her chest rising as if drawing in all the light around her. A gentle warmth coursed through her body. The chaos that had once ravaged her meridians had vanished, replaced by clarity and peace.

She raised her hands, watching golden threads of energy curl around her fingers before fading.

Her voice was a whisper. "I can feel it... this power. It’s warm and gentle."

She turned toward Xie Ren, her eyes wide with awe. "Master, what is this? Did you... Give this power to me?"

Xie Ren gave a slight shake of his head. "No. I gave you nothing. That power was always inside you."

"Inside me?" she repeated, confused. "But... how?"

He glanced toward Su Jie. "You should ask your father."

Roulan hesitated, then turned. "Father...do you know something?"

Su Jie opened his mouth but said nothing. His lips trembled. A shadow crossed his face, and he looked away.

For a moment, he couldn’t meet her eyes. His hands clenched at his sides, a silent war waging inside him.

"Father?" she asked again, gently. "Is something wrong?"

A long silence passed. Then, slowly, he exhaled. "No. I’m fine."

He straightened, standing tall despite the storm in his chest. His eyes met hers, still filled with shock, pride, and something deeper. Regret.

"You’ve grown strong, Roulan," he said, his voice steadier now. "Stronger than I ever imagined. It’s time... I told you everything."

"Everything...?" Su Roulan tilted her head slightly, confusion in her eyes.

Su Jie let out a long, quiet breath. His gaze softened, not with relief, but with sorrow that had been buried for far too long.

"The power flowing through you now," he said slowly, "it comes from your blood. A rare and powerful inheritance passed down through generations from a mythical race."

Roulan blinked. "Mythical race?"

"The Phoenix."

"P-Phoenix?" she repeated, her voice shaky.

He gave a solemn nod. "Yes. You carry the blood of the Phoenix within you. A divine bloodline... born of fire and rebirth. I didn’t tell you before because..."

He paused, his throat tightening, "because you were still too young. I feared the truth would harm you."

"And because," Su Jie added quietly, "I knew that if I told you... You’d want to find her."

Her voice trembled. "You mean... Mother?"

He nodded again. "Yes. Shu’er... your mother... she was an empress of the Phoenix Clan."

The room fell utterly silent.

"P-Phoenix Clan?! An empress?!" Elder Zi, standing at the side, couldn’t help but repeat silently, his eyes wide in disbelief. Though he had long suspected Su Roulan’s mother hailed from a powerful background, this truth left him breathless.

Even the three girls who had remained composed until now froze in place.

Lan Yue’s eyes were fixed on Su Roulan, observing silently. She had once read records about the phoenix race. A divine bloodline capable of rebirth through flame. Their bodies burned away all weakness, leaving only pure strength.

But those stories were considered fantasy now. The phoenix race was said to have vanished from this world long ago.

And yet... here stood a direct descendant.

Beside her, Mo Wushuang and Chen Yinyin exchanged silent glances. Unlike Lan Yue, they had not merely heard of phoenixes. As former sovereigns of their own domains, they had clashed with the phoenix race’s descendants multiple times.

The phoenixes were powerful, but more than that, they were proud. They viewed all other races as beneath them, especially humans.

And yet... their empress, the most noble among them, had borne a child with a human man?

That truth alone would shake the foundations of the Phoenix Clan. And if Roulan truly was the daughter of their empress...

She wasn’t just a descendant. She was royalty. A little phoenix princess, born of fire and mortal blood.

And such a truth wouldn’t bring just reverence, it would bring disaster.

"Then..." Su Roulan’s voice trembled as she asked. "Where is Mother?"

Her lips quivered, her eyes glistening as tears welled up. "Did Mother... hate Roulan?"

"No." Su Jie’s voice came out quickly. He stepped forward and placed both hands gently on her shoulders. "No. Your mother never hated you. Not even for a moment."

His hands trembled slightly, though his grip remained steady. His gaze softened as old memories surfaced, memories of a woman with fire in her blood and sadness in her smile.

"She left us to keep us safe," he said, lowering his voice as though sharing a truth that had long been locked away. "There were bad people who wanted to harm her. If she stayed... they would’ve come for both of us."

Roulan’s chin dipped, and tears fell onto her sleeves. "Is she... is she still safe?"

Su Jie paused, just for a breath, but in that moment, the silence was deafening. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Then, he gently wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumb. "Your mother is strong, stronger than anyone I’ve ever known. No one can burn her down. She must be out there... waiting for the day you’re strong enough to reach her."

Roulan clenched her tiny fists.

"I’ll find her," she whispered, lifting her head. "I’ll grow stronger. I’ll reach her... no matter where she is."

Su Jie smiled, pride and sadness mingling in his eyes. "Mn. That’s my girl."

In the background, Mo Wushuang exchanged a brief glance with Chen Yinyin. The atmosphere had warmed, but her expression darkened.

That hopeful smile on Su Jie’s face was full of love. But also ignorance.

The Phoenix Clan was not known for mercy. They were proud. Their bloodline was considered sacred. Any impurity, especially from mortals, was a disgrace they would not tolerate.

If the Phoenix Clan discovered her identity, they would not hesitate.

They would erase her.

Mo Wushuang’s eyes narrowed faintly as she glanced at Xie Ren, who was grinning at the father and daughter’s emotional moment. ’But with this man as her master, perhaps fate would choose a different path.’
