Chapter 370: A Devil And A Demon

Following his gaze, Eliza quickly figured out the plan they had bet everything on.

After confirming that her sister, Elina, was indeed tasked with the leadership role. Michael had separated the two from the rest of their troops, placing the Indomitable Alliance’s forces squarely between them.

Not a bad strategy per se... Victoria certainly hadn’t lacked skill in executing it.

However, Eliza failed to see how this could lead to their defeat. At most, they were only going to lose more troops than anticipated.

"Deal with him." Eliza called out to her sister. Abandoning her fight with Michael, she soared forward, ready to halt the Indomitable Alliance’s advance.

It was only a matter of time before Elina bested Michael. Since she was clearly enjoying herself, there was no need for interference.

"I have to give it to them though... They are capable of acting as a unit." Eliza murmured, clearly impressed.

Not only had the lesser troops rushed toward Michael’s distress call, but the Transcendent Lords Robert, Cayson, Astra, and Sirius, along with Devil, had shifted their priority from halting the Absolute Lords to surrounding Elina.

In particular, Devil was the most eager. Rushing forward with the feral intent of a beast, he took wide strides, sights set on Elina as his final prey.

Behind him, Absolute Lord Freya was only moments away from catching up. Several wounds marred her otherwise stunning figure. She hadn’t accumulated lethal damage in her duel with Devil, but the sinister monster had certainly gotten under her skin.

"Stop in your tracks, you pretentious mongrel!" She bellowed, killing intent oozing from her gaze.

Devil laughed mockingly. "Woman, do not try to tarnish my masculine perfection with your filthy tongue. A wretch like you will never be worthy of a man from my caliber!"

His casual remarks only served to enrage Freya further.

Moments before catching up to him, Freya realized she had been led astray. Seeing the two factions locked in confrontation near Elina made it clear what their true endgame was.

Before she could react, Richard suddenly came crashing down toward her. His protective layer seemed to shatter on impact, emphasizing the insanity of a Peak Grandmaster standing before an Absolute Lord.

"I’ll keep the hooker busy for a second or two!" Richard called over his shoulder, throwing a glance at Devil. "You do what you’ve got to!"

Freya bit her lower lip in frustration. What was happening, and how did so many arrogant men appear?

Heaving a sigh, Eliza flicked her fingers. The ground trembled as a colossal icy wall, stretching from one horizon to the other, began rising rapidly toward the heavens.

Simultaneously, she conjured torrents of ice pillars, aiming them at the members of the Indomitable Alliance.

Despite exhausting a colossal amount of her spiritual energy, it was worth it. It would be no good if Elina were surrounded.

With a single maneuver, Eliza had disrupted Victoria’s plan.

There was no need to aim carefully. The enemies were clustered close enough to guarantee collisions. Eliza’s eyes gleamed as she hurled the projectiles toward the Indomitable Alliance.

By all means, the outcome of the battle seemed set in stone.

Or so it appeared, until Victoria’s figure blazed into flames. Her hand moved in a graceful half-arc, conjuring the shape of a bow with a shimmering string.

With great effort, she drew back the blazing string. The inferno swirling around her focused into a single point, taking the form of an arrow, its temperature rising with each passing second.

The benefit of using flames was that the more spiritual energy she poured into them, the more searing the blaze became. Shaping it into an arrow was merely a way to streamline the process, allowing her to control the raw power more effectively.

Channeling every trace of energy she possessed, Victoria caused the top of Cyberfang to melt, unable to withstand the sheer temperature. Yet the AI of the metallic beast remained unwavering. Rising onto its two rear legs, Cyberfang propelled Victoria even higher, giving her a superior vantage point.

For but a fraction of a second, Victoria appeared indistinguishable from a raging dragon straight from hell. Unleashing the projectile with overwhelming force, her strike sent nearby troops, friends and foes alike, to be blasted outward by the shockwave.

Eliza’s eyes narrowed in rare recognition. Even from a great distance, the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. The outstanding heat radiated danger!

Unwilling to take any chances, she redirected her ice pillars, positioning them to intercept the path of the blazing arrow before it could reach the frozen wall.

"Robert!" Victoria roared, locking eyes with the humble Transcendent Lord.

Instantly, Robert responded. Though he had already pushed himself to his limits after halting an Absolute Lord for so long, his determination overwrote his exhaustion.

His violet gaze gleamed, his long green hair whipping fiercely in the wind, which seemed to obey his every command.

Embracing Victoria’s arrow, the wind applied pressure on all sides, equaling and compressing it, reducing its size while making it burn even hotter, rivaling the temperature of the sun.

Yet that was not all. The trajectory of the arrow shifted, as if the torrents had a will of their own. They caused the projectile to dart through the air in a zigzag pattern, dodging every obstacle and increasing its speed with every twist.

A curse escaped Eliza’s lips, too late to react.

Meanwhile, Michael continued his duel with Elina, unaware of the condition of his comrades due to the frozen wall.

Despite his lack of information, he fought, fully believing in his allies.

Not only was his right arm severed, but his left was mutilated, barely clinging to his body, leaving him in a desperate state.

Nevertheless, his bloodied smile never left his face. With his arms out of commission, his foot was raised high, coming down for a devastating kick.

"Let’s finish this!" Elina declared with delight. It had been a pleasure fighting Michael. She had come to learn numerous things in the process.

Sadly, he now had too many openings. With her next blow, she was going to win!

Understandably, adrenaline coursed through Elina’s body. Pushing her to the limits was a rarity. Which was why she noticed too late that the wall behind her evaporated in a cloud of smoke, overwhelmed by Victoria’s concentrated attack.

A shadow cast behind her, Elina turned... Only to witness Devil coming out of the smoke bearing a wide grin. His claw rose upward, aimed at her heart, while Michael’s overhead kick targeted her neck.

Simultaneously flanked by a Devil and a Demon, Elina would have liked the battle to last a tad bit longer. But once the two strikes connected cleanly, she was rendered defeated, bringing an end to the faction clash with her demise.

It took several seconds for the audience, as well as the participants of the match, to fully grasp that the Indomitable Alliance had emerged victorious, officially securing their spot in the tournament finals.

Immediately, everyone spectating the live broadcast erupted into cheers, amazed by the marvelous clutch.

The Indomitable Alliance was closer than ever to winning the tournament, with only one final hurdle remaining.

Yet, by all accounts, the finals were expected to be the most grueling battle. The Immortal Legion and the Heavenly Pact had already clashed, with the Immortal Legion coming out on top.

Unlike the Golden Vanguard, who had used the faction’s wars as a means of training their troops, the Immortal Legion operated in an entirely different manner.

From the start of the tournament, the Immortal Legion had only deployed a single individual each time.

Having reached what many considered the very pinnacle of cultivation and rumored to be the strongest Lord in existence, second only to Nicole...

Supreme Lord Noctis was poised to be Michael’s final opponent.
