Surviving In Another World With My Three Cups!-Chapter 178 -
Night deepened over the camp.
Mo Ying stepped out of the tent, the flap falling closed behind him. The cool breeze brushed past him, but his chest still felt heavy.
He walked without thinking.
His footsteps slowed when he passed the Crown Prince’s tent.
Soft voices came from inside.
"Sit still," the Crown Prince said gently. "You’re injured."
Lin Xu sighed.
"I’m fine. Really. You don’t have to hover."
"You nearly fell into a snake pit."
"That wasn’t my plan."
"Regardless," he replied calmly, "you’re still being taken care of."
There was a pause.
Then—
"Does it still hurt?"
"A little," Lin Xu admitted.
"Then don’t move."
"...You’re treating me like a child."
"Good."
Mo Ying stopped outside.
For a moment he simply stared at the lantern-lit tent.
He didn’t go in.
He didn’t speak.
He just stood there...
Then turned away.
His footsteps faded into the night.
Inside the tent...
Lin Xu felt an odd tug in her chest.
The Crown Prince poured tea and placed it beside her hand.
"Drink slowly," he said.
She tried to smile.
"Your Highness... you don’t need to worry so much."
He met her eyes.
"I will worry as much as I wish."
Her heart skipped.
Silence stretched between them.
Then Lin Xu suddenly looked toward the entrance but there was no one.
Her fingers curled slowly.
"...He didn’t come."
The Crown Prince lifted a brow.
"Who?"
She forced a small laugh.
"No one."
She suddenly heard a chime.
[ Jealousy Rate 80% ]
[ Jealousy Rate 85% ]
[ Jealousy Rate 92% ]
Her gaze drifted toward the dark camp again.
Still no Mo Ying.
[ Jealousy Rate 100% ]
She pressed her lips together.
"...Idiot."
The Crown Prince tilted his head slightly.
"Who is?"
"No one!"
He hid a faint smile.
"Rest. You’re safe here."
She sighed softly.
But her thoughts were far away.
Somewhere in the night...
Searching for a man who wasn’t there.
And her heart ached even if she didn’t understand why.
The night was quiet.
Lin Xu sat in the tent, still thinking about what happened. Then a guard arrived and bowed.
"Your Highness, Noble Consort Su requests your presence."
The Crown Prince glanced at Lin Xu.
"I’ll be back soon. Rest."
Then he left.
The tent became silent.
A soft glow filled the tent.
The air shimmered... and Susu appeared floating in her small air-ball form.
In front of Lin Xu, shining letters formed in the air like a screen.
[ Mission Complete ]
Objective: Escort the Crown Prince to the banquet tonight.
Secondary Objective: Induce jealousy in Mo Ying.
Jealousy Level: 100%
Reward Unlocked: Memory Intruder Skill (One-time use)
Susu’s tiny voice sounded proud.
"Congratulations. Mission complete."
Lin Xu stared at the glowing words.
"...So the reward is a skill?"
Susu nodded in the air.
"Yes. You have gained Memory Intruder."
Lin Xu frowned.
"What does it do?"
Susu spun slowly.
"With this skill, you may enter and view one person’s memory.
Only once. One chance. Choose carefully."
Lin Xu went quiet.
So she could see someone’s past... their truth... their secrets.
"...Only once?"
"Only once," Susu repeated.
Lin Xu sighed.
"Is there any more ridiculous mission coming?"
Susu shook its tiny glowing body.
"Not for now. Rest while you can."
Then the light faded.
Susu disappeared.
And the tent felt empty again.
Lin Xu sat quietly, hugging her knees.
Her mind wandered as everything felt heavy.
Finally, she stood.
She needed air.
She slipped out of the tent and walked through the quiet night until she reached the fountain the same place she had met Mo Ying before.
The moonlight shimmered on the water.
And then...
She stopped.
Because he was there.
Mo Ying sat on the soft green grass, back slightly bent, staring at the rippling water. The moonlight traced the line of his shoulders.
From afar, Lin Xu could almost smell his familiar, clean scent.
Her heart trembled just a little.
She hadn’t expected him.
Yet somehow...
She had hoped he would be there.
Lin Xu stepped closer.
The sound of the fountain filled the silence.
Mo Ying didn’t turn around right away.
But he spoke his voice low and tired.
"...You couldn’t sleep either?"
Lin Xu stood beside him.
"No."
For a moment, neither spoke.
Then Mo Ying suddenly laughed soft and broken.
"Lin Xu... tell me something."
She looked at him.
"What?"
He lifted his head toward the sky.
"Do you think... I deserve any happiness?"
She blinked.
"...Why would you say that?"
His voice shook.
"Because all of this... everything... is my fault."
Lin Xu’s chest tightened.
Mo Ying finally looked at her.
And his eyes were red.
"If I had never married San Na...
If I had never gotten her pregnant..."
His voice cracked completely.
"...none of this would’ve happened."
She stared at him, stunned.
Mo Ying clenched his fists.
"And the worst part is..."
He swallowed hard.
"I don’t even remember doing anything with her."
A tear fell down his cheek.
"I try to remember that night. Again and again. But my mind is blank. Empty. Like it never happened."
His voice turned hoarse.
"But the child existed. So it must have."
He laughed bitterly.
"What kind of man forgets something like that?"
Lin Xu’s heart twisted.
He lowered his head into his hands.
"I ruined her life.
I ruined mine.
And still... I can’t stop thinking about you."
His shoulders trembled.
And then he cried. Not loud. Just... broken.
Lin Xu slowly reached out and touched his arm. "...Mo Ying."
He leaned toward her, resting his forehead against her shoulder as if the weight was too much. "I wish I could change it," he whispered. "I wish that night never happened."
Lin Xu froze. Her mind spun. That night. Susu’s reward. Her eyes widened.
"Susu."
The air shimmered, and a faint glow appeared before her. Susu’s voice sounded gentle.
"Do you wish to use Memory Intruder?"
Lin Xu swallowed. "Yes."
Susu asked calmly, "Whose memory?"
Lin Xu looked down at the man shaking in her arms. "Mo Ying."
"Which moment?"
"...The night with San Na."
The world blurred. Then—silence.
Lin Xu opened her eyes. She was standing inside the Mo residence. Night. Lantern light flickered gently. She looked down at herself transparent, a ghost in time.
She saw Mo Ying walking down the corridor. But he wasn’t steady. He was drunk. Very drunk.
He staggered into his room and collapsed onto the bed.
A while later, San Na entered. Dressed in thin white sleep clothes, her eyes were sad, complicated. She slowly walked to the bed and looked at the unconscious man. Then, she lay down beside him. Clung to him. Tried to kiss him.
Mo Ying moved. His brows tightened. "...Lin Xu..." he whispered her name, over and over.
Lin Xu’s heart stopped. San Na froze, staring at his face shock turning into anger. Then he blinked, saw her clearly... and pushed her away. Even drunk, he still rejected her.
San Na bit her lip hard. Her maid slipped in quietly, sounding surprised. "Young Miss... even drunk, Young Master still thinks only of that woman."
San Na’s hands shook. Her jealousy burned. Her maid whispered, "What will you do?"
San Na lifted her eyes, cold and determined. "Bring the paint."
The maid obeyed. She returned with a bowl. San Na poured it onto the bed, onto her own white clothing, staining it red. Fake evidence.
She turned to the maid. "Lock the door. By morning... the entire Mo residence will know he has consummated our marriage."
Lin Xu couldn’t move she was beyond surprised.
Who the hell would do such a thing. She had heard of women taking advantage of men but this was beyond her imagination.
And with that, everything paused and she found herself bac.
Back at the fountain.
Mo Ying was asleep now, arms wrapped around her like she was the only thing holding him together. His breathing was soft. Peaceful. He never knew. He never remembered. And everything... had been a lie.
Lin Xu stared at the quiet night sky, completely speechless. Her chest ached.
Slowly, she wrapped her arms around him in return. She felt pity for him.. san na had played with everyone.. how the hell did she even do it but the most important question that lingered in Lin xu’s mind was who the hell did that child belong to.
Just then fuhan stepped forward, "Lady Lin." He bowed slightly as Lin Xu just smiled, help me carry him back to his tent.. he’s sharing a tent with San an right?"
Fuhan shakes his head, "San na had sent him away so an extra tent had been prepared for him to rest for tonight."
Lin Xu nodded as she then faced the sleeping man in her arms.
"Then I’ll stay with him in his tent tonight.m he doesn’t seem like h would let me leave in peace." She chuckles slightly as fuhan had a relieved expression.
"Thank you Lady Lin, you don’t know how much the general have deprived himself from sleep these past few days... It gave greatly affected him."
His words made Lin Xu shake her head slightly as she used her soft fingers to trace down his soft hair.. "he’s absolutely something else."
