Surviving in the Beast World with a System-Chapter 133: Setting Out
Wu Yue gave him a suspicious look. "Why do I get the feeling you were about to tear my roof off?"
Yuan Lang, whose hand was resting on the straw mat covering her roof, flinched. He gave a hollow laugh. "Of course not. I’m definitely not that kind of beastman."
He quickly put the straw mat back in place and smoothed down the corner.
Only then did he retreat from her roof and return to the ground.
By this time, Wu Yue had reached the small door by the steps. Opening it, she started walking down. "Has the date for the Fierce Beast hunt been set?"
Yuan Lang nodded. "It’s in three days. We’ll set off first thing in the morning. How are your preparations coming along?"
Wu Yue nodded. "The herbs are all set. The ones you all gathered these past two days should be enough to last a while.
"Besides, we can always gather more in the forest after we set out, so we shouldn’t have to worry."
She looked at Yuan Lang. "Those Snake Beasts, the kind that injured the Lion Tribe’s beastman last time—are they dangerous to catch?"
Yuan Lang raised an eyebrow. "You don’t really need to worry about that kind of Snake Beast. Their venom is potent, but as long as you’re careful, you won’t get hurt. The Lion Tribe member last time probably just stumbled into their nest by accident."
Wu Yue’s eyes lit up. "In that case, could you help me catch a few of those Snake Beasts? And bring back some herbs that work as an antidote for snake venom."
Yuan Lang nodded. "Of course. I’ll take some beastmen and make a trip this afternoon."
The beastmen’s speed was no joke. While Wu Yue was still preparing the stone bowls to hold the venom, Yuan Lang and the others had already returned with the Snake Beasts.
Faced with the writhing, tangled mass of Snake Beasts, Wu Yue still timidly hid behind Yuan Lang and said with a hollow laugh, "Um, I’ll have to trouble you with this after all. I want their venom, the more the better."
Seeing this rare, cowardly look on her face, Yuan Lang raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly.
His low chuckle tickled Wu Yue’s ears and wormed its way into her heart.
Her gaunt face flushed slightly, and she shot the beastman an embarrassed, angry glare.
The collected venom was placed into the small stone bowls she had prepared.
After Yuan Lang left, Wu Yue finally summoned her System. "Do you have any jars that can hold snake venom?"
The System arrogantly lifted its little chin. "The System has everything, as long as the Host has points to trade."
Looking at her savings, Wu Yue said with the air of a big spender, "Show me what you’ve got."
Sensing a sale, the System instantly perked up. With a SWISH, it opened the System Mall interface.
There was everything from bamboo tubes to exquisite glass vials.
Wu Yue glanced at the snake venom on the table and decisively chose a glass bottle that cost 10 points.
"System, could you be any more of a rip-off?"
The System wailed aggrievedly, "Dog Host, don’t you dare frame the System! This cute and kind System didn’t set the prices."
Wu Yue snorted, then carefully poured the dark-colored venom into the bottle and placed it in her personal storage space.
Three days passed in a flash. Not many members of the tribe knew that Wu Yue was going with Yun Lang and the others to hunt Fierce Beasts in the deep forest, but Qingcao was definitely one of them.
"Yue, the deep forest is so dangerous, and terrifying Fierce Beasts roam everywhere. What if you accidentally run into a few... You really shouldn’t go,"
she said, her face filled with worry.
Wu Yue leaned in and gave her a hug. "I’ll be fine. The beastmen will be there to protect me, won’t they? Don’t worry."
After waving goodbye to her friend, the group arrived at the edge of the forest. The method of travel for this hunt was something Wu Yue had truly not expected.
Looking at the large white tiger bowing down before her, her face was a mask of astonishment. "I’m supposed to ride it?"
Yuan Lang chuckled. "It’s faster this way. The rainy season is almost here, and we need to make it back before it starts."
