Seeing this, Wu Yue quickly stopped. "I’d like to get some embers to roast some meat..."

Before she could finish, a very familiar, taunting voice came from behind her. "You want embers? A lone female like you without a male’s protection isn’t allowed to get them."

Wu Yue rolled her eyes. ’For crying out loud, why do I have to run into this idiot Aya everywhere I go?’

The Beastman guarding the fire nodded. "The tribe does have this rule. Fire is too dangerous. A young female can’t get it by herself without a male for protection."

Aya leaned against the male Half-beastman behind her, looking at Wu Yue smugly. "I’m here for some embers, too."

The words had barely left her mouth when the guard let the male Half-beastman behind her pass. A moment later, he came back out, carefully cradling a stone bowl that held a small, flickering flame.

Aya quickly went forward, cupping her hands around the bowl to shield the flame.

Seeing that Aya was too preoccupied to cause her any trouble for the moment, Wu Yue bid farewell to the Half-beastman guard and left.

’Are you kidding me? If I don’t leave now, am I supposed to wait around for Aya to come looking for trouble?’

Back in the cave, Wu Yue looked at the meat on the stone slab and pursed her lips. ’It looks like I won’t be eating this meat, after all.’

"Does the Host wish to expand the System Space?"

The System’s mechanical voice rang out, and if one listened closely, it seemed to hold a trace of exasperation.

Wu Yue: "..."

’Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?’
