Chapter 96: Chapter 96: I’m a Goner

She gave a light cough and looked at Yuan Lang beside her. "Don’t just stand there. I’ll search over here, you go search the other side. If you find any herbs with strange colors, bring them over for me to see."

Yuan Lang nodded. "Alright, but don’t get too far from me. It’s not safe here."

Wu Yue nodded without hesitation. When it came to her own precious life, she was extremely cautious.

Seeing her nod so obediently for once, Yuan Lang was speechless and rolled his eyes dramatically. "You little female, you’re really that scared of dying."

Wu Yue sneered. "If you’re not afraid of dying, why don’t you go challenge a Fierce Beast to a duel?"

Yuan Lang gave a dry laugh. "There’s a difference between being fearless and being suicidal."

With that, he turned and headed off in the other direction.

Wu Yue vigorously shook her small fists at his retreating back, as if by doing so she could smash the Beastman’s head to a pulp.

She bounced on her feet for a while, calling out to the System in her mind countless times, but still there was no response.

Wu Yue swore through gritted teeth that as soon as she had enough points, she would definitely redeem them for a copy of the *Complete Guide of Beast World Plants* and dump the unreliable System for good.

’It can go eat dirt.’

Just as she was mentally stabbing a voodoo doll of the damned System, she suddenly heard a familiar oinking sound from the bushes up ahead.

’That sound...’

Her expression instantly stiffened. ’Holy crap! It can’t be a wild boar, can it?!’

She started to back away stealthily. ’What rotten luck!’

’There’s a sturdy Beastman Warrior over there. Why aren’t you oinking at him? What are you doing, oinking in front of a delicate little female like me?’

’It’s not like I can hunt you down for meat. And besides...’

Wu Yue was miserable. ’If it really is a wild boar, it’s not even clear which of us would be the one getting killed.’

Suddenly, the oinking up ahead stopped, and Wu Yue’s heart clenched.

Her gaze was fixed on the direction the sound had come from.

’No way...’

Reality never lets a "lucky" person down. The bushes began to shake violently, and the wild boar’s grunts took on a ferocious edge.

It was coming right in her direction.

Wu Yue gasped. ’Damn it all, so much for a quiet retreat!’

She immediately turned and bolted in Yuan Lang’s direction, screaming, "Yuanlang Warrior, help!"

She had just let out a single cry when the bushes behind her were violently thrown apart by a massive body.

Wu Yue glanced back and was so terrified she almost fell to her knees.

’Holy hell, was that a woolly mammoth with the face of a wild boar?’

’It’s huge!’

The wild boar’s two gleaming tusks curved upward, their lethality obvious at a glance.

The wild boar took only a few strides before a massive shadow fell over Wu Yue. The beast’s thick stench washed over her, making her hair stand on end.

"Yuan Lang, where the hell did you go?! I’m a goner!"

Wu Yue roared in the direction Yuan Lang had gone. ’This damn Beastman! He’s just as unreliable as that useless System when it really matters.’

The foul stench of the beast enveloped her from behind. Wu Yue’s expression changed drastically. ’Holy shit!’

’I haven’t even cultivated my awesome witch power, and I’m already getting killed off like this?’

’Author, come out here, we need to talk! Am I just the legendary cannon fodder?’

Just as she closed her eyes, bracing for impact, the excruciating pain she expected never came.

Wu Yue felt a violent rush of air beside her, followed by the beast’s agonized squeal from behind.

Her eyes snapped open, and she spun around to see a powerfully built Snow Tiger squatting beside the savage-looking wild boar.

Its massive paw was casually pinning the boar’s head to the ground. The tiger looked completely relaxed, as if the creature under its paw was nothing more than a tiny bug. It was an absolutely badass sight.
