Surviving The Fourth Calamity-Chapter 255 - 62: The Undercurrents Between Legends_2
But if he was an average person who found it difficult to even become an Archmage, you would probably think like me, preferring them to awaken as a Magician.
At least if I left this world, or simply died without a trace, I wouldn’t have to worry that in a few hundred years my descendants couldn’t even produce a single Professional."
Even Miller, who was listening, was a bit surprised, "How could that be? Would they squander everything you’ve amassed in just a few hundred years? They don’t even have any Magisters!"
"I have indeed been overly indulgent with my descendants, but I have never relaxed their training. Even those without Mage aptitude, I tried every means to make them Knights.
And the result?
Look at them, they are desperate to inherit my Magic Tower.
But not a single Magister has emerged. My foolish granddaughter Patricia managed to become an Archmage with great difficulty. Instead of striving hard while I am still alive to grab more resources and advance to a Magister!
She might even compete with Phillips for the heir’s position.
But she thought it would be sufficient to use her beauty to get half the control of the Magic Tower. Utterly foolish! The control of the Magic Tower will always rest with the Tower Master alone.
If she can’t even understand that, what potential does she have?
How many years can an Archmage live? When she grows old and loses her beauty, would Phillips, who would have become a Legendary, still love her as before?
By then, this tower wouldn’t bear the Carl name anymore.
So compared to Phillips, who has benefited greatly from me, it would be better if your grandson could give her a perfect life.
I specifically sent her to see what an excellent Mage should be like! He is so handsome! Isn’t he better than Phillips?
She still chose Phillips and even used Polanio as a backup!
Now, Phillips might think that Patricia loves him to the extent of giving up a beautiful youth like Polanio, but later, when he gets tired of her, he would only think she did it for power. Otherwise, why would a normal person make such a choice?"
Hill inexplicably raised his eyes to look at Carl. Was it really appropriate to belittle his granddaughter and only disciple like this?
He quietly surveyed the surroundings again.
While he was unaware, the three Legendaries had cast a soundproofing spell together.
This was the first time Hill did not sense the fluctuation of a spell.
"So you’ve given up on that foolish child?" Miller’s Legendary asked without a hint of surprise.
"After I leave, it would be Phillip’s benevolence if he could tolerate that group of people for a hundred years, out of his respect for me as his teacher." Carl shook his head, "Anyway, this bunch of elves has already been abandoned and won’t be returning to the Forest of the Elves. If I could leave one or two within my family, even if those guys are mediocre, there’s a chance they might awaken as Magicians, and that’s enough."
"You were the one who initially used marriage alliances to draw others in." Fran, with a stoic expression, said, "You’ve gotten used to taking shortcuts, no wonder they learned from you."
"Is that the same?" Carl said, somewhat agitated, "I was making use of waste, they are willingly degrading!"
By this point, Hill no longer believed that Carl loved his descendants very much. If someone could speak of using waste, no matter how biased they were towards their grandchildren, it was never out of love.
Miller and Fran seemed unsurprised, indicating they knew Carl would react this way for other reasons.
The Legendaries suddenly looked up in unison, glancing in the same direction.
Hill belatedly followed their gaze, guessing who it might be.
Sure enough, just as he thought, the emissary from the Mage Association was arguing with someone. Adrian was struggling to mediate. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Carl’s Legend was standing right here, and that fool dared to confront Carl’s heirs directly.
Hill found the subChapter head’s expression amusing. He probably couldn’t tell whether this so-called envoy was truly foolish or incredibly foolish.
Even if he was the Mage Association Head’s son, he probably wouldn’t be this arrogant, Hill mused to himself. The principle that even a dragon should not suppress a local tyrant applied in every world!
If he was just probing, it had already gone way too far.
None of the Legendaries moved.
Hill could feel eyes constantly darting in his direction.
He quietly lowered his head slightly, his gaze fixed on Fran’s robe.
"The elves seem excessively interested in Polanio, even causing trouble at such an occasion." Miller’s gaze swept over Hill as he probed Fran.
"Hill is very favored by Natural Consciousness." Fran bluntly replied, "He has no idea himself, nor does he find it peculiar, but his valley teems absurdly with Wood Elemental Spirits and Treants.
If the current elves managed to produce someone with as strong a natural summoning ability as him, the whole nation would celebrate, wouldn’t they?"
"I thought his main element was Earth?" Miller said with deep meaning.
"He has the bloodline of the Earth Bear, thus possessing Earth heritage, but his Wood Element is incredibly strong, and he also wields Water System Divine Arts. His elf bloodline is somewhat mixed." Fran did not deny Hill having an Earth lineage.
But Miller paused a bit. How could such a lineage have Earth as the main element?
"I thought he liked using Earth magic because its heritage was stronger!"
Fran gave Miller a peculiar look, "For a Mage who went out to build a city himself, Earth is indeed very suitable to use.
Otherwise, how would he manage? Build houses with water?"
What was left unsaid was clear to everyone. While concealing his identity as a Magician, Hill could never use Wood Element Magic.
Fran hadn’t told a single lie, but everyone would believe that Hill’s strongest element was Wood.
Initially, Hill did give that impression to people.
After all, the most habitually used lethal spells of his, apart from summoning Element Lords, were formidable wood skills like the Forest Array.
Fran did not know why Miller asked these questions. But whether he had good or bad intentions, Fran had already said what needed to be said.
If anyone dared to probe further, Fran wouldn’t hesitate to strike back fiercely.
He turned his head to glance at the silly child staring at his robe, chuckling lightly.
He was already a Legendary Mage, a mage whom even gods dared not easily confront.
The Elf Deity System had long failed to influence the continent.
The World’s Will had completely kicked the deities out of the Main World, precisely to guard against them.
In this world, Fran only needed to worry about William.
Time and space confinement, Fran didn’t think William couldn’t do it.
But Fran had long noted that William and the God of Time and Space were so entangled with the World Will, they wouldn’t recklessly overstep their faction to intervene.
As long as Fran kept steady and didn’t get involved in those messy affairs, he was safe.
So he wouldn’t throw Hill out as bait, even if that ensured safety.
Why should his fine child be tainted with such filth?
William hadn’t figured out the elfish intention yet, so why the haste?
Fran looked at the chaos, Carl still dared to say his descendants were eager for quick success.
Those children were not the wastrels Carl spoke of. Even if their foundations were somewhat shaky due to eagerness to advance, they were far stronger than some Archmages in his Magic Tower.
Yet, they too were thrown out as bait?
With a head of the family like that, it was no wonder the Carl family had come to this state.
Thus, despite his dislike for Miller, Fran would still choose him if he had to find someone to collaborate with.
Before Carl became Legendary, his foolish father had demanded he must take good care of his brother and ensure the Carl family always thrived with many descendants.
The Carl family did prosper, but Carl’s many brothers left no heirs.
The legendary Carl himself had many children with multiple women to ensure the family always thrived.
So, the mage’s life-saving grace wasn’t so easy to utilize.
Yet, despite all this time, Carl hadn’t broken free from this vicious circle, becoming increasingly extreme in his actions.
Fran couldn’t see a promising future for Carl.
