Swallowed Star 2: Origin Continent-Chapter 283 : Procurement
Chapter 283: Procurement
Rainlan City, while frequently plagued by theft and occasional robbery, was overall still considered stable and safe.
“We’ll first go sell the corpses of the Low-Rank Primordial Lifeforms.” Di Qing, who was experienced, piloted the black flying boat toward the inner city. “Large-scale trades of Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses are almost always done at the Hunyuan Hall.”
“The first floor of Hunyuan Hall is for Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpse trade. The second floor is where one can exchange war merits,” said Di Qing.
“War merits?” Luo Feng looked at Di Qing.
“Killing Low-Rank Primordial Lifeforms grants war merits,” Di Qing said with a smile. “If you accumulate enough merits, you can exchange them for treasures beyond imagination. Some treasures in the Infinite Space Treasury can also be exchanged through war merits.”
Luo Feng understood and immediately asked, “How many war merits can we get from this haul?”
“Low-Rank Primordial Lifeforms at the early-stage God Emperor level are the weakest tier. Six corpses mean six war merits,” Di Qing shook his head. “We're earning merits too slowly, so normally we just sell the corpses and the merits along with them.”
“After all, there’s no way to verify who killed the corpse. As long as you carry a new corpse to the second floor for verification, the merit can be bound to your name,” Di Qing chuckled. “Usually only the Hall Masters and Elders bother to accumulate large amounts of war merits.”
Luo Feng nodded.
While the two conversed, a towering, colossal palace appeared ahead. The palace was entirely a deep azure color, its hue profound, with a faint ominous aura hidden within. Over countless years, this palace had collected an untold number of Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses.
Of course, many cultivators had perished during hunts as well.
Hunting had always been a matter of both risk and reward. Succeed, and you earn big. Fail, and you might die.
“We’ve arrived at the Hunyuan Hall,” Di Qing looked toward the palace ahead.
Very soon, he stowed the black flying boat, bringing Luo Feng to land at the main entrance of the first floor of Hunyuan Hall.
The first floor of Hunyuan Hall was quite vast and divided into thirteen independent zones, each of which handled the trade of Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses.
“These thirteen shops that purchase Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses all offer different prices,” Di Qing smiled. “Ask around a few places. Sell to the one offering the highest price.”
“Brother Di Qing.” A chubby elder greeted them warmly. “Gone hunting again? Looks like you had quite the harvest.”
“Just risking my life, that’s all,” Di Qing replied with a smile as he walked over.
“You folks from the Source World have clones! Way better off than us.” The chubby elder chuckled. Though stronger in power and able to afford life-saving items, he rarely went hunting anymore.
Across the myriad worlds, the frequency of hunting expeditions was generally far lower than among Source World cultivators.
“We killed six Low-Rank Primordial Lifeforms this time. Take a look, see what prices you can offer,” Di Qing said, sitting down with Luo Feng. Attendants had already prepared fine food and wine nearby.
“And this is?” the chubby elder looked at Luo Feng.
“This is my brother Luo Feng,” Di Qing introduced.
“I’m Bu You. Shop Number Three on the first floor of Hunyuan Hall is under my charge,” the chubby elder said enthusiastically. “Brother Luo Feng, I hope you’ll support my business in the future.”
Although he managed this shop, he wasn’t the owner. After all, there were only thirteen shops on Hunyuan Hall’s first floor, and weaker elders weren’t even qualified to get involved.
Luo Feng nodded slightly. “Alright.”
After some bargaining—
“I’ll check with a few other shops,” Di Qing stood up after their discussion.
He asked the three shops he was most familiar with and ultimately sold the Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses to those three.
The corpses themselves sold for a total of 6.08 million Primordial Crystals, and the six war merits were sold for another 600,000 Primordial Crystals. The total came to 6.68 million Primordial Crystals.
“Not many people come to sell Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform corpses.” Luo Feng observed the transaction process and noticed that no other cultivators came to sell spoils during that time.
“There are at most a few hundred thousand hunting teams in all of Rainlan City. They typically go on a hunt every few hundred eras or even longer. How much trade volume can Hunyuan Hall get in just one era?” Di Qing laughed beside him.
Luo Feng calculated briefly and nodded.
“Let’s split the spoils.”
“You held the rear this time and paid quite a price. From the total haul, you’ll first get 500,000 Primordial Crystals. The rest we’ll divide evenly,” Di Qing said, doing the split right in Hunyuan Hall. “You get 3.59 million, and I get 3.09 million.”
“I owe you 100,000 Primordial Crystals. I’ll repay it now,” said Luo Feng.
Di Qing nodded, then with a flip of his hand produced an object—a brilliant polyhedron shimmering with all sorts of strange colors. “Brother Luo Feng, I’ll sell you this treasure for 90,000 Primordial Crystals. What do you think?”
“Illusory Realm Labyrinth?” Luo Feng immediately recognized it.
It was a standard storage treasure in Rainlan City, sold at a fixed price of 100,000 Primordial Crystals. Used to store items and carried on the person, there were few in all of Jiugang Holy Realm who could steal it. Nearly all God Emperors owned one.
Luo Feng had been too poor before to buy one.
But after his first hunt, he now had over 3 million Primordial Crystals. If they got stolen, he’d cry rivers.
“Buy it, buy it! Of course I want it.” Luo Feng grinned. “Brother Di Qing, where did you get a spare Illusory Realm Labyrinth?”
“When you’re out there and subject to ambush, naturally you sometimes counter-ambush, and end up collecting a few Illusory Realm Labyrinths,” Di Qing said with a sly smile. “Those shops sell them for 100,000 Primordial Crystals, but if I sell to them, they’ll only pay 80,000.”
Luo Feng understood.
“I figured you’d want one after this hunt, so I prepared it for you in advance,” Di Qing said. “Alright, we’ll part ways here. I’m off to do a big shopping trip.”
“Sure.” Luo Feng easily refined the Illusory Realm Labyrinth. This was a high-level spatial-type treasure, possibly at the Half-Primordial level in terms of craftsmanship, but its simple materials and single-purpose design kept the cost low.
“After buying the Illusory Realm Labyrinth, I’ve still got 3.4 million Primordial Crystals.” Luo Feng felt quite wealthy. “Time for a real shopping spree this time.”
Last time, he had bought only the cheapest materials in Rainlan City, holding back from purchasing many tempting items.
…
“All intelligence reports on the God Emperors of Rainlan City, one copy for 10,000 Primordial Crystals? I’ll take one!” Luo Feng wasn’t stingy this time, casually purchasing an intel report stored in a piece of black jade, which concealed a special mental incantation.
“To read the information, I first need to actively use this mental incantation to coat myself in a mind-seal?” Luo Feng briefly studied the instructions and then, with the help of the black jade, activated the incantation.
Once the incantation was complete, the black jade dissipated, and a stream of information poured into Luo Feng’s consciousness—it was detailed information on countless God Emperors within Rainlan City.
“Rainlan City God Emperor Intelligence, Edition #10377. Currently, Rainlan City has approximately 3.47 million God Emperors. We have intel on 3,397,320 of them.”
“Rainlan City’s Number One God Emperor: Hall Master Wei Yang. A Half-Primordial level Seeker, a Source World powerhouse, and suspected to be the strongest in Rainlan City. He once displayed an immensely powerful physical body and had, with brute force alone, slain a Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform at the Complete God Emperor level. He once used a terrifying formation array to surround and annihilate an entire Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform clan—barely any escaped…”
The report included scenes of Hall Master Wei Yang in action, along with battle reconstructions and tactical insights.
“Rainlan City can confirm that nearly a hundred Elders are fully aligned with Hall Master Wei Yang. Together, they form the largest force in the city, controlling half of the city’s trade market. The three factions responsible for frequent theft and robbery in the city—‘Insect Nest,’ ‘Ten Thousand Shadows Loft,’ and ‘Trick Workshop’—have all pledged allegiance to Hall Master Wei Yang…” 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Luo Feng studied it carefully.
So the three factions daring to steal and rob within the city were backed by Hall Master Wei Yang and nearly a hundred Elders? And they controlled half the city’s trade market? Truly terrifying.
“Rainlan City’s Number Two God Emperor: Hall Master Yuan Xiang. A Half-Primordial level Seeker, Source World powerhouse, and founder of Rainlan City! He has made tremendous contributions to the city. During its construction, he led many Elders in numerous large-scale battles against Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform clans. In terms of explosive power, he surpasses Hall Master Wei Yang. However, his physical body is relatively ordinary and has long sustained injuries… As a Source World powerhouse, he has multiple clones, yet each clone is also wounded. Suspected to be suffering from contamination by a High-Rank Primordial Lifeform.”
The intel included many scenes of Hall Master Yuan Xiang taking action.
This Hall Master Yuan Xiang, with his frail body, always attacked from a distance, his power devastating.
Even just looking at him conveyed his frailty—his flame of life seemed to burn on stubbornly.
“He’s the founder of the city?” At that moment, Luo Feng felt a trace of respect for Hall Master Yuan Xiang.
In Jiugang Holy Realm, founding a city was an extremely difficult task.
As the founder, Hall Master Yuan Xiang had made massive contributions. Nearly a hundred Elders stood on his side as well. But due to his physical weakness and rare appearances, the force he led was relatively weaker.
“Rainlan City’s Number Three God Emperor: God Emperor Gai Tao.”
“God Emperor Gai Tao, Half-Primordial level Seeker, Source World powerhouse. In all of Jiugang Holy Realm, he ranks top three in artifact refinement! He disdains conflict and instead leads over thirty Elders interested in refining to focus solely on the craft.”
“His weapons and secret treasures are sold across many cities in Jiugang Holy Realm.”
“With the might of his weaponry, God Emperor Gai Tao’s strength is unfathomable, possibly on par with Hall Master Wei Yang. But he acts so infrequently that his true strength is hard to judge.”
The intel included three battle scenes—each casual and effortless.
Once, he released a massive spherical abyss that instantly devoured a Low-Rank Primordial Lifeform at the Complete God Emperor level.
Once, he casually reached out and crushed an Elder who dared offend him—snuffed out in his palm. The other two Hall Masters said nothing about it. Though the Elder was a Source World powerhouse and had clones, he never returned to Rainlan City afterward.
Another time, in a rage, he killed a disciple of his with a single bite—his body itself seemingly a secret treasure.
…
Out of the 3,397,320 God Emperors:
There were three Half-Primordial level Seekers.
There were 723 at the Late-Stage God Emperor Seeker level or equivalent strength.
There were 52,092 at the Mid-Stage God Emperor Seeker level or equivalent strength.
The rest were all at the Early-Stage God Emperor Seeker level.
Someone like Emperor Ming, who barely reached the God Emperor level relying on bloodline power, wasn’t recognized by Rainlan City. “Early-Stage God Emperor Seeker level” was considered the minimum standard for being acknowledged as a God Emperor.
“We’ve also identified 53,321 suspected Early-Stage God Emperor Seekers.”
The data on these suspected God Emperors was much briefer.
Entry #51029: Luo Feng, recently arrived in Rainlan City, residing in the same cave dwelling as Di Qing. Suspected Early-Stage God Emperor Seeker, suspected Source World powerhouse.
That was all the record said about Luo Feng.
“I’m even listed in the intel? Though at the very end.” Luo Feng chuckled.
