Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire-Chapter 34: You Have No Proof
Alfonso’s brow furrowed as her words sank in, and he felt a knot tighten in his chest. "Does she not suspect anything?" he thought. "Or is she playing dumb?"
Evans, who had been watching them closely, nodded at Enzo and offered a polite smile. "Thank you for taking care of our niece. Why don’t you take her to her room so she can rest? I’m sure she’s had a long day." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Enzo bobbed his head at his request. "Of course, uncle," he replied, turning to Adeline and extending his hand. His voice dropped to a low, affectionate tone as he said, "Let’s go, my love."
Adeline inwardly cringed but maintained her smile. She placed her hand on his, allowing him to lead her toward the hallway. The elevator doors slid open, and the two stepped inside. As soon as the doors closed, boredom etched itself across Enzo’s features. He propped himself against the elevator wall, his arms crossed nonchalantly across his chest, while Adeline stood in front of him, her hands formed into tight fists.
He noticed her balled fists, and a teasing grin spread across his face. "You’re awfully quiet." He waited for a few seconds for her to say something in response, but when she didn’t, his grin only widened. "So....are you not going to yell at me for kissing you back there?"
Adeline jerked her head in his direction, throwing a sidelong glance over her shoulder. "Do you want me to yell at you?"
Enzo lifted his hand to his face, tapping his chin as though genuinely considering his response before he shrugged. "Maybe. It’s kind of cute when you do. Your face gets all red, and you look like you’re trying not to explode. It’s adorable."
Adeline rolled her eyes, turning fully to face him, raising her fist as if to threaten him. "Shut up, Enzo."
He reached out and gently caught her fist, his large hand completely enveloping hers. He held it there firmly, smirking down at her. "Oh? What are you going to do? Punch me with this?"
"The fuck..." Adeline blinked, momentarily caught off guard by how small her hand looked compared to his. Quickly, she pulled her hand free and pushed at his chest.
The shove barely moved him, and Enzo laughed. "Cute."
The elevator chimed, signaling their arrival on the second floor. Adeline stepped out first, walking ahead of him, and headed toward her room.
Enzo followed, quickened his pace to catch up.
He nudged her shoulder gently, drawing her attention. "You know, we never did get to go on that date. I even bought you a whole new car for it."
Adeline stopped in her tracks, her brow furrowing as she turned to glare up at him. "From what I remember, you said that you were just trying to make our ’relationship’ convincing in front of my family."
Enzo bit his lower lip, his playful demeanor faltering for a second. He gave her a forced nod. "Yeah, but still...."
Before he could say anything else, Adeline shook her head. "It’s not happening."
Enzo chuckled, reaching out to gently pat her head. "Relax, I’m just messing with you. But honestly, a date wouldn’t be so bad."
Adeline slapped his hand away and sighed before resuming walking down the hallway, leaving him behind her.

Damien stood in the center of his garden, holding a small bag of birdseed and lazily tossing it across the garden paths. A flock of birds chirped and descended to peck at the scattered seeds while some came for the bag itself.
Hearing the faint rustle of leaves behind him, Damien let out an annoyed huff, and without turning around, he spoke. "I assume you’ve come with good news."
Vincent froze mid-step, his breath catching in his throat. His small frame trembled slightly as he mustered the courage to step forward. He stopped a few paces away with his head bowed and his hands clasped tightly in front of him. "N-not really, my lord."
Damien’s brows furrowed into a deep frown. Reaching into the bag, he scooped up the remaining seeds and tossed them with force, scattering the birds into the sky. Turning around, he began to stride toward Vincent, the heavy boots he wore crunching against the gravel with each step.
As Damien closed the distance, his shadow engulfed Vincent completely. The smaller man began to tremble, his legs barely able to hold him upright.
Damien raised a hand, and Vincent instinctively flinched, squeezing his eyes shut as though expecting a blow. Instead, Damien’s hand landed on Vincent’s shoulder, patting it twice before leaning down slightly to meet his eyes. "What have you been doing in the human world all this time, Vincent?"
Vincent’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead. "My lord, I’ve been keeping an eye on Enzo and the girl... as you asked." Reaching into his pocket, Vincent fumbled for a small bag and pulled it out. With trembling hands, he held it out to Damien, bowing his head even lower. "This is all I have come back with."
Damien’s eyes flicked to the bag, snatching it roughly from his hands and tearing it open. He pulled out the photos and began flipping through them. They showed Enzo carrying Adeline into a hospital.
When he had seen enough, he scoffed and tossed the photos to the ground like they were trash. "And have you figured out who she is to him yet?"
Vincent shook his head. "N-not yet, my liege. I... I am still working on it. I’ve been trying to find a way to get into her home and ask one of her maids. Surely they would know something..."
Damien scoffed, turning his back on Vincent and gazing out at the garden once more. "I’m getting impatient, Vincent. I’ve waited long enough." He paused, his hand balling into a fist at his side. "Enzo isn’t the type to linger around someone for this long. There’s no doubt she isn’t the reason he refuses to return. I’ll go to the human world and eliminate her, leaving him no reason to stay back."
Vincent’s mind screamed at him to stay silent, but something in him snapped. He knew this was a dangerous line to cross, but he couldn’t stop the words from spilling out. "Forgive me, my liege, but you have no proof of that."
Damien’s gaze snapped to him, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "What?"
Vincent wobbled as he took a step back, his heart pounding in his chest. "It’s just... you don’t know if she’s really the reason. What if you killed her and it turned out she wasn’t the reason why Enzo hasn’t returned? That would just be an innocent life gone."
