Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire-Chapter 69: One Stomp And He’s Done For.
At the same moment, both Adeline’s and Enzo’s eyes flicked from the chaos to the guards. Just as they had hoped, the two men exchanged looks before leaving their post, striding toward the commotion to intervene.
Adeline and Enzo looked at each other, matching grins stretching across their faces.
"Talk about perfect timing," Enzo whispered.
Grabbing her wrist, he rushed towards the now unguarded door. He reached for the knob, twisting it—and to their luck, it wasn’t locked. He slipped inside first, pulling Adeline in after him before shutting the door quietly behind them.
As he adjusted his jacket, Adeline let out a breathless laugh, clutching her chest.
"What’s funny?" Enzo asked, lifting a brow.
She shook her head, her laughter dying down into a smile. "That was close. I really thought we were going to get caught."
He smirked, letting out a confident hmph. "Not on my watch."
Finally, they turned their attention to their surroundings. They weren’t in another room but in a long hallway that stretched ahead with an intersection just a few steps away.
They shot each other a doubtful look before proceeding.
When they reached the intersection, three paths lay before them. They could either continue forward, take the left, or go right. Before either of them could decide, a door at the distant end of the hall creaked open.
Footsteps echoed against the cold floor, and a man’s voice filled the space as he laughed into a phone call.
Enzo took Adeline’s arm and pulled her into the left passage, pressing both of them against the wall.
The man approached, walking toward the door they had just entered from, completely unaware of the two figures hidden in the shadows. Just as he passed the intersection, a pair of strong hands shot out from the darkness.
Enzo’s palm clamped over his mouth and yanked him backward into the corridor. His phone slipped from his grasp, landing on the ground and from the other end of the line, a confused voice repeated, "Hello? Are you still there?"
Adeline rushed out from where they had hidden, quickly snatching the phone off the floor. Her fingers pressed on the red button, ending the call before whoever was on the other side could get even more suspicious.
Enzo slammed the man against the wall with a heavy thud, the glasses he wore slipping from his face, clattering onto the floor. He pressed an arm firmly against his chest, pinning him in place.
The man gasped loudly when Enzo finally removed the other hand from his mouth. Enzo had been accidently covering both his mouth and nose the whole time, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
As Adeline neared the man, she tucked his phone into her pocket, which prompted an explosive reaction from him. His features contorted into an expression of pure anger as he caught sight of the item in her possession. "Give that back! Who the hell are you bastards, anyway? Do you even realize—"
A quick smack cut him off mid-sentence. His head snapped to the side as Enzo delivered a light but unexpectedly painful slap to his cheek.
The man went rigid, his stunned expression oscillating between shock and bewilderment. His mouth hung agape, but then abruptly tightened, and he whipped his head back to look towards Enzo. "How dare you? Do you know who I—"
Smack! Another slap landed, this time harder. His head jerked to the other side, and he froze again, staring at the empty corridor ahead.
Enzo lifted his hand again, ready to deliver yet another slap if the man even thought about raising his voice again.
This time, the man didn’t dare speak. His head slowly turned back to Enzo, eyes darting between him and Adeline.
"Well, that’s one way to get him to shut up," Adeline said.
Enzo lowered his hand, gripping the man by the collar of his expensive suit and yanking him forward before driving a knee into the side of his leg.
"Argh!" The man let out a strangled cry as his leg buckled beneath him, forcing him to kneel.
Enzo leaned down, his face hovering inches from his, his voice dropping into a dangerously low whisper. "I ask the questions. You answer. Understood?"
The man hissed through clenched teeth, nodding frantically.
Enzo’s gaze flicked to his cheeks that had already begun to swell from the slaps, and a part of him wondered if he had hit him too hard, considering he hadn’t even put any real strength into it. He sighed, shoving the man down in a seating position and stepping back. His gaze flicked to Adeline, silently signaling her to take over.
"First of all—what is this place?" she asked, stepping forward.
The man’s lips parted, but no words came out. Sweat beaded at his forehead, his eyes darting around as if searching for an escape.
Enzo crouched down in front of him, and his hand shot out, seizing a fistful of his hair and yanking it back.
"She asked you a question!"
The man swallowed hard, nodding. "It’s a backroom! We—we use it for gambling, okay? It’s illegal in this city, so we run it back here, out of sight. That’s all, I swear."
"Do you know who Elijah is? White hair, brown eyes, about six feet tall?" she asked again.
"Elijah? White hair?" the man repeated. He went over the description in his mind, taking a brief pause before shaking his head. "N-No, I don’t know him."
Enzo’s grip tightened on the man’s hair, and he forcefully yanked it once more, eliciting a pained yelp from him as his head jerked backward. "If you lie to me again, I’ll rip out your eyes and feed them to you. Got it?"
Adeline recoiled, her nose scrunching up in mild disgust. "Jeez, Enzo." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
He released the man’s hair with a rough shove, standing up to his full height once again, his hands settling on his hips as he glared down at him. "Since you gamble here, you should know who Elijah is. So talk. Or else—"
He lifted his foot slightly, hovering it in the air and aiming directly at the man’s groin.
The man gasped, and his legs, which had been carelessly spread apart, snapped shut in an instant. His wide eyes darted to Enzo’s shoe, then back to his face, gauging whether this insane man was serious. One stomp from him, and he wouldn’t be having kids. Ever.
