Chapter 43: Bang!

Sam was going against two people, he was ready to fight for his life and his military training left him well-equipped for this battle and this could explain why he was so calm.

"You kick good..." Max complimented him but that kick was meant to knock him out.

"Ha! You're kind but that kick was meant to knock you out so I guess I don't kick well enough..." Sam teased with a genuine smile. He was having fun but this didn't mean he didn't understand the situation he was in.

Max noticed the axe in Sam's hand and that was why he wasn't eager to rush in. f(r)eeweb(n)ovel

Sam had just demonstrated that he had superior skills in terms of fighting and him being armed made things a lot worse.

John, however, was a violent airhead and he charged at Sam from his blind spot but Sam could hear his footsteps and immediately turned.

He realized that John wasn't running towards him but away from him, he was going for the door.

Sam knew he had to stop him because if John brought a knife to a gunfight, it would prove disastrous.

Sam tried to move but he left himself open to Max's attack, Max had already demonstrated superior strength so blocking his blows would affect him one way or another.

The only thing that saved Sam was that he had seen the shadow move behind him allowing him to jerk his head in time.

Sam crossed his arms to form an X shape defence to block the incoming kick aimed at his chest, this sent him skidding a couple of inches back.

"I see..." Sam said; the kick had sent him closer to John and he could peek through the hole made in the door.

The thing that has been blocking it was the corpse of a dead police officer except he didn't turn.

These men must have come in and attacked him. The police proceeded to take shelter behind the door but he succumbed to his injuries.

From what he saw, it was an axe wound to the head, it was a miracle he could even move that far after such a fatal wound.

Sam was irritated by this and realized he had to kill these two men here and now.

Luckily, Clementine wasn't here to hold him back so he could let loose.

Sam knew that the threat he needed to take care of first was Max.

Max ran towards him but this prompted the smaller man to be on high alert as Sam threw his ax aimed right at his enemy's leg.

The size of the man meant he lacked the agility to dodge this and this was a calculated attack from Sam that yielded results as the axe impaled his enemy's thigh.

"Fuck! This little fucker is good!" Max thought to himself because he could no longer maintain the speed at which he charged at Sam with.

This forced Max's speed to drop drastically as he began leaping but he felt a right jab to the side of his face that shook his brain and made him stumble onto his knees.

"Any last words?" Sam questioned but Max wasn't about to go down with taking Sam with him.

He removed the axe that was lunged into his thigh and swung it at Sam but Sam disarmed him by kicking his elbow; this kick snapped his arm into two, using Max's strength against him.

The bone stuck out as the metal axe slid away from them on the floor.

"I guess I can finish you off later..." Sam said casually as he tilted his head to see John still struggling to open the door.

Sam knew that moving a body through that small hole would be a lot more difficult than they thought. The weight of a dead body wasn't anything to laugh at.

John heard his footsteps get closer and closer, Sam picked up the axe ready to kill John but John never turned back. Not until Sam was close enough, he turned around suddenly but he had a pistol in hand. John wasn't trying to open the door, he was trying to get the gun from the police officer's holster.

"W-What?" Sam thought but before he could even process what happened, a gunshot echoed.

Clementine took the baby out of the carcass, she couldn't risk the baby getting caught by the zombie but she worried that the baby might have inadvertently put its bloodied hands into his mouth like babies were fond of doing.

She didn't know how the infection spread but she understood that directly ingesting it couldn't be good.

Clementine could hear the dogs banging their head even harder on the door, why were they so aggressive? Clementine wondered if it was what was in the closet.

She gulped, the saving grace was that the baby was now quiet.

She stuck the key in the closet and yanked it open, ready for whatever it was that waited for her.

"Eh?" She thought to herself because all she saw was an unconscious young boy no more than thirteen. He wasn't dead but he wasn't alive either.

It felt like he was in between but Clementine noticed that he had a bite mark that had healed right on his neck.

There was no way that this child was immune but this would explain the extreme measures taken to make sure he was safe from the ensuing carnage that took place.

Heck, priority was placed on him over a toddler, this was strange as it was.

She tried to shake the boy awake but nothing happened, but if this was what she was thinking then maybe, just maybe there was hope for humanity after all.

A gift had fallen right in her lap and she was going to make sure that she protected this boy by all means, she had to get rid of the dogs first and Clementine hatched a plan to make sure that this would happen.
