Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 179 - 178: Follow the Procedures
Chapter 179: Chapter 178: Follow the Procedures
Tassera is a Blue Dragon and also a Mage. Recently, she even improved her spellcasting level by drawing a Comet Card.
Although her main focus is on the schools of shaping energy and illusion magic, she is also adept at using Mysterious Steps. Even if she encountered some powerful demon that she couldn’t defeat, escaping would still be relatively easy.
Leon merely thought of Tassera but wasn’t too worried about her.
Speaking of which, even if he were to worry about her, it wouldn’t serve any purpose. Tassera currently resides in the Red Crown Desert, a bit far from Watchtower Port. Unless there was some dire news, it would be impossible to trek over such a long distance.
The Brass Dragon has been visiting for a few months now, seemingly about to complete the castle for him. Once the castle is finished, it’s certain the Brass Dragon will return to the desert. In fact, he’s been continuously talking about going back. By that time, asking the Brass Dragon to check on the Blue Dragon should be enough.
Leon left Watchtower Port but didn’t return directly to Volcanic Island. Spending a whole day wandering around in the Molten Lava Pool, he suddenly remembered he hadn’t seen Cecilia for a while and decided to visit the forest.
The Magic Palace Rose looks like clusters of vivid red roses sprinkled with black and golden spots, blooming en masse on the decomposing corpse of a Bugbear. As a result, its sweet fragrance carries a hint of decay.
The Killer Vine is a mobile plant that captures and crushes its prey, placing the corpses near its roots to use as fertilizer.
Goblins are good-for-nothings; Orcs only know how to shout and fight. However, fully armored Hobgoblins working alongside hidden Ettercaps, supplemented by the aforementioned Magic Palace Roses and Killer Vines, form the Dragon Nest Guard under Cecilia’s command.
Hobgoblins are quite intelligent, while Ettercaps, though dim-witted, can barely manage. They all recognize Leon, a mighty Red Dragon, as the master of the Green Dragon, and naturally don’t attempt to obstruct him.
What Leon couldn’t figure out was why the Magic Palace Roses and Killer Vines, which clearly lack intelligence, refrained from attacking him. He had no idea what Cecilia had done.
In any case, when Leon found Cecilia, she was still sleeping.
"Master, what’s going on?"
Leon had been thinking that since there was nothing much to do, and Cecilia was still asleep, he could come back another day. But as he was starting to survey the surroundings, pondering how his Tear Claw and Dragon’s Jaw could come into play in a fight with the Green Dragon, Cecilia suddenly woke up.
"Just arrived," Leon said. "You have an awfully light sleep."
"I can sleep deeply too," Cecilia said, blinking playfully at Leon. "No matter what Master wants to do to me, it’s fine."
Leon glanced at Cecilia. Cecilia preferred her Dragon Form, and at that moment, the Green Dragon was sprawled on the ground. She smiled and said, "You don’t look as thin as before... Though you’re still thinner compared to me and Tassera, that’s just because Green Dragons are naturally slender-limbed. But why is your human form’s chest still so flat?"
"Does Master prefer girls with bigger chests?" Cecilia asked. "I can also make mine bigger."
Leon gave it some thought and waved his hand. "Forget it... I’m already used to your original shape. Sudden changes feel fake."
"In that case, I’ll stick to my original appearance," Cecilia said, flicking out her forked tongue. "I need to take a different path from Tassera; otherwise, I’ll always lag behind her."
Leon chuckled ambiguously.
"What’s the matter, Master?" Since Leon was in human form, Cecilia also shifted into human form, becoming a tall, short-haired teenage girl with legs that were absurdly long.
"You, as a servant, are a bit irresponsible," Leon said, touching the wound near his mouth. "Look at this injury... Someone infiltrated my island yesterday and managed to injure me, yet you weren’t by my side. You neither protected me beforehand nor tended to me afterward... What do you think your punishment should be?"
"No way. Someone dared to infiltrate your island and even managed to hurt Master?" Cecilia, aware of Leon’s strength—how as a Young Dragon he defeated a fully grown Red Dragon and earned Tiamat’s attention—was visibly taken aback. "Who could be so powerful?"
"But seeing Master like this, it’s obvious you triumphed overwhelmingly." Cecilia’s expertise in lifting moods shone through. "No one is a match for Master."
Leon gave a brief recount of yesterday’s events.
The fact that his opponent had been a potent Death Knight made his minor injury, which still hadn’t healed, something worth boasting about.
"The Orcs and Hobgoblins you stationed on the island? Half of them were slain by the Death Knight. You should send more reinforcements," Leon said. "The villa’s construction progress is way too slow."
Leon suddenly remembered how those Fire Melt Salamanders had once lived peacefully on Volcanic Island. After he settled there as their seemingly powerful new owner, their lives worsened as they contended with his enemies, dying en masse whenever battles broke out.
"Alright, I’ll dispatch a new batch right away," Cecilia said, not daring to procrastinate. "Anything else?"
"Nothing much..." Leon hesitated. "About Watchtower Port—it’s just Watchtower Port matters. I see your nest is taking shape nicely. You’ve clearly put considerable effort into it and recruited many underlings. You haven’t forgotten the tasks I assigned you, right?"
"I definitely haven’t forgotten Master’s orders. I’ve not only deployed shapeshifters to spread your name all across Watchtower Port but also made the Evil Wolf the Security Vice Captain there," Cecilia replied. "You remember Evil Wolf, don’t you? The Werewolf."
"Of course I remember. I brought him back from Crossroads City," Leon said, somewhat surprised. "He’s now Watchtower Port’s Security Vice Captain?"
"Watchtower Port isn’t exactly a major city, far from the Empire and the Talia Alliance. A medium-sized city like that is easy to infiltrate," Cecilia said with a shrug.
"Is Master already prepared to rule Watchtower Port?" Cecilia asked. "I can always arrange for the shapeshifters to incite riots—looting, arson, chaos—and then have Master step in to eliminate the corrupt officials, seamlessly taking over Watchtower Port."
Leon pondered. His initial reason for wanting to control Watchtower Port seemed less significant now. He could simply collect protection fees for money, and there wasn’t much else he particularly wanted, like forcing everyone to worship him or erecting a grand statue of the Red Dragon in the city center. "Let’s keep things as they are for now—at least until my castle and villa are built."
Leon hated multitasking; he preferred completing one thing before moving on to the next.
"How much longer?" Cecilia asked.
"The castle, about half a month to a month, most likely," Leon replied. He had been keeping a close eye on the progress. "The villa will take a bit longer due to its complexity."
Roughly half a month later, Leon’s castle atop the volcano was completed.
