Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 437 - 431 Border’s Gate
Chapter 437: Chapter 431 Border’s Gate
The full name of DND is Dungeons & Dragons, which translates to Dragon and Dungeon. The core is dice-rolling, surrounded by various data and settings, while the intriguing story background is on the outermost layer.
Among the many world settings in DND, the Forgotten Realm is undoubtedly the most famous. This campaign setting, with its most abundant resources and complete setup, directly leads many readers to mistake the Forgotten Realm as the true DND, considering other settings as heretical.
Next, the Forgotten Realm is a highly fantasy-themed setting. The entire world is built on a planet called Toril, composed of a large landmass in the northern hemisphere and some other smaller lands, with the western part of the northern hemisphere’s continent known as Faerun. Its civilization is similar to Europe’s late medieval period on Earth.
Speaking of Faerun, the most famous city is undoubtedly Baldur’s Gate... though for other readers and players, it might be Deepwater City, or even Molten Blade City. However, for Leon, it is certainly Baldur’s Gate, and he was somewhat excited to turn into a hawk and overlook Baldur’s Gate from above.
In the game, Baldur’s Gate shrank significantly due to technical limitations... even so, it still overwhelmed many players’ computers. The real Baldur’s Gate, as a metropolis and city-state in the Sword Bay area, is a crowded city full of commerce and opportunity, reminiscent of the magnificent Baldur’s Gate in game CGs.
The protagonist group should be still forcefully attacking the Moon Tower now, and it’s uncertain when they will come to Baldur’s Gate.
Leon, in no hurry to loot or hunt for treasures, circled the skies over Baldur’s Gate with great interest.
Baldur’s Gate’s Upper City exudes an atmosphere of wealth and beauty, with broad streets and eye-catching buildings adorned with hanging plants. The Lower District is a vast crescent-shaped part entirely within the city walls, with congested, crowded streets. The Outer District, on the other hand, is a chaotic and overcrowded slum...
Looking at Baldur’s Gate, Leon couldn’t help but think of his Watchtower Port, wondering when Watchtower Port could reach such a size—several decades or centuries might not be enough.
Leon slowly landed on a rooftop, the heavy footsteps of the Iron Defender echoing in the distance.
He looked at the Iron Defender, recalling the ones he had seen. In reality, the number of Iron Defenders was nowhere near as ubiquitous as in games... As expected, creating a magic statue is not cheap, often costing tens of thousands of Gold Coins, and even a wealthy city like Baldur’s Gate couldn’t have them everywhere.
"Time to get down to business."
A few hours could be wasted, but too much time is not good. Leon quickly set in action, flying toward the walls of the Lower District. He landed in the plaza next to the walls, transforming into a human form amidst the surprised gazes of passersby.
Near the game’s Lower District walls, several shops sold excellent equipment and potions. Leon visited them, asking for prices. The Storm Coast Armory had the most expensive equipment, which were Rare Level weapons and gear, while the Bone Cloak Medicine Store did not sell the Cloud Giant Power Potion.
After making a round, Leon set his eyes on the Witchcraft Grocery Store and leisurely walked in.
The Witchcraft Grocery Store sells a wide variety of spell scrolls, but not many allow users to cast Five Ring or Six Ring Spells. After all, such powerful spell scrolls are not something anyone can afford, with even high-level adventurers and nobles having to think twice.
After lingering for half an hour in the Witchcraft Grocery Store, Leon transformed into a winged cat and flew up to the Rajmis Tower above the store. In the game, the Rajmis Tower is definitely a treasure trove and quite easy to conquer.
Inside the Rajmis Tower, Loruokan was leisurely reading a book on a throne made of books. Upon seeing the sudden intrusion by a winged cat, a vigilant expression could not help but turn into a slight smile—who could refuse a cute, furry cat? That is, until the winged cat elegantly turned in mid-air, transforming into a black-haired man.
"Who are you?" Loruokan suddenly stood up, his robe floating without wind. "What intentions does a Druid have for coming to my Mage Tower?"
Leon sized up Loruokan, a clown without even legendary actions in the game’s glory mode, a mocking smirk appearing on his lips as he said, "This is your Mage Tower? Isn’t this the Rajmis Tower? After Rajmis left, you took it over like a cuckoo in a magpie’s nest."
"How did you know..." Loruokan’s pupils suddenly contracted, but soon regained composure. After taking a deep breath, he straightened up, "Now that I’m here, it is mine."
With a crisp snap of his fingers, four Elemental Governors appeared out of thin air, surrounding Leon. Loruokan’s voice carried a threatening tone as he said, "Leave now, and I can pretend nothing happened."
Killing Loruokan was as easy as turning his hand for Leon. Even the entire Rajmis Tower could turn to ashes in an instant, but there wasn’t much benefit in doing so.
"I know you’re looking for the Night Song, an Asmodeus trying to imprison her with some spell to gain immortality." Leon laughed, a chilling laugh, "Hand over the spell, and take me to the vault to retrieve a few items."
"Once I get what I want," Leon paused, "I will naturally leave."
"Leave?" Loruokan suddenly raised his hand, casting a Human Stasis Technique at Leon, "You’re not going anywhere!"
The immobilization spell’s light flickered around Leon’s body, dissipating without a trace like sinking into the sea.
"The immobilization spell should be used like this." Leon flicked his hand in return, and Loruokan immediately stiffened like a puppet.
Leon turned to the four restless Elemental Governors, sighing lightly, thinking that the human form still lacked pressure. The cramped space inside the tower also limited the dragon form, hesitated for a moment, and flexed his shoulders. His body suddenly inflated, and a scorching sulfuric breath filled the room in an instant. frёeωebɳovel.com
Accompanied by a tearing sound, a Balor stood as high as a floor, its massive bat wings stirring a scorching air current, and the Flame Spirit Light ignited the carpet... Leon glanced down, thinking how the Balor really looked more dashing than a Pit Fiend.
The battle erupted in the blink of an eye.
Leon swung the Fire Tongue Whip with his left hand, firmly ensnaring the head of the Earth Element Governor and lightly pulled it before him. His right hand wielded the Beheading Giant Sword, drawing an arc of light, and the Earth Element Governor’s head immediately crashed down, followed by a heavy stomp, causing its body to shatter into pieces.
The remaining three Elemental Governors couldn’t hold out for long, quickly crumbling under Leon’s transformed Balor’s frenzied assault.
The Fire Tongue Whip lashed out again, dragging Loruokan before him. With a kick that knocked Loruokan over, Leon let out a satisfied roar that echoed like a Hell Furnace, saying, "Can you promise me now?"
Loruokan, unable to speak at the moment, nodded with a touch of panic in his eyes.
With a twist, Leon reverted to his human form, lazily snapping his fingers. "I almost forgot you can’t speak in that state."
"You... how can I be sure you won’t kill me once I give you what you want? Or if I take you to the vault, what’s stopping you?" Loruokan asked, licking his lips and spitting out blood.
"Ten," Leon replied, "I’m giving you to the count of ten."
Loruokan, realizing the position he was in, quickly caved, "Alright, alright, I’ll do whatever you say!"
Leon displayed a satisfied smile, reaching down to pull the limp mage to his feet with one hand. "A wise choice."
Inside the Rajmis Tower’s vault, gems like Makocheski and the Magic Net Robe could not be missed, and without Loruokan as a guide, entering the Witchcraft Grocery Store’s cellar would be impossible.
"Didn’t you say you only wanted the few things you asked for?" Loruokan licked his lips.
"It means your life is spared, doesn’t it?" Leon said, as he reverted back to his human form with another flick of his fingers, just as he acquired the coveted Karsus Crown, Sachiat’s Code, the Red Knight’s Legacy, Cautious Before the Celebration, and other coveted texts.
With everything he wanted secured, Leon sauntered out of the Witchcraft Grocery Store, plundering it of scrolls, books, and magical items without leaving anything behind.
Afterward, a contented Leon used Gathering Form and Scattering Energy to transform, flying all the way out of Rajmis Tower to take a rest at the inn of Affectionate Inn named Charis, near the Flying Dragon Pass, contemplating his next move.
