Talisman Reincarnation - All My Clones Are Dao Ancestors-Chapter 141: Thirteen Forces
While they were snacking everything, several hours had already passed and it was dinner time.
Mu Yan saw that the children hugged their bellies from overeating, burping occasionally.
He chuckled, "You two really know how to eat well! Alright, let’s go find an inn and take a break."
Walking along the road, his eyes flashed with a golden light.
Previously he hadn’t used his ability because he didn’t need to, but now that he was in his future home, he wanted to check everything.
Golden light manifested in his vision in the form of various things. Some were small animals, some were golden ingots, others were plaques... in general, he saw the fortune of each place clearly.
Looking at the shops on the street, he saw that many had golden lines connecting to different fortune symbols.
Above the town, there was a long golden carp with four fins, even a fifth fin half-formed. It circled the town like a protector.
’The golden dragon is the most common manifestation of the local fortune in each place. But only empires who have reached the transcendent stage can manifest the golden dragon fully. There are four stages before: Spiritual Scaled Beast, Dragon-Like Scaled Beast, Flood Dragon and Young Dragon and finally True Dragon.
This carp has reached the second stage... but in the future, it shall transform into a phoenix!’
As he said, he looked at the fins. Each fin led to one of the largest symbols of the town – the most powerful forces.
’There are ten noble families and three forces in the Stone Lotus County, eight of which are at the third stage while four are of the fourth stage. But looking at it this way, it seems a fifth force is about to rise to the fourth stage.’
Just looking at the carp, he was able to discern it easily.
Such was the power of the Royal Path. Restricted to only a select few, it was exclusive and extremely secretive. After all, fortune was limited.
While he saw it clearly, anyone else would have difficulties finding out, especially in such a short time.
The four forces pointed to four distinct directions.
A large manor covered the south. That was where Mu Yan entered, and it seemed like every person that entered from that entrance gave a bit of fortune to the force overseeing this, there was small tiger beast symbolising the families’ fortune.
To the left and right, there was one family each. They controlled the harbour of the lower and middle section of the river. Ships and boats entering from there gave a bit of their fortune to the merchant families.
The family on the left had a large turtle as a symbol, and the one on the right had a goddess statue.
In the north, he saw that it actually connected to a red-light like district. It looked like a theatre but he could see a red fox fortune beast, meaning it was likely a mix of theatre and brothel. A clean brothel so to say... next to the fox, there was a small rabbit.
’A rabbit? How rare.’ The rabbit symbolised same sex relationships... considering it was a fortress on the sea, he could imagine that people were more outgoing out here.
’It also has some potential,’ instantly, various thoughts arose in his mind. If he advertised it secretly, he could surely attract a new bunch of people to come into the county. This practice was rather unpopular, since in the Human Dao, passing on the lineage was one of the most important matters.
But not everyone in the empire cultivated the Human Dao, and besides Rulers, Officials and Soldiers, the rest was more relaxed when it came to such things. As long as the lineage wasn’t cut off, personal matters would stay personal.
He then looked over to eight glowing scales, each one pointing to the third-stage forces.
His focus directly landed on the one leading to the central area, ignoring the other six, only checking out a second one to the side of the central area.
’The central area is the Yamen...’ the Yamen was the central government institution. Inside each Yamen, there were three offices:
Magistrate’s Office, the Garrison and the Royal Office. A look of confusion appeared in his eyes, because technically... there should be two third-stage forces in the Yamen, not just one. The Royal Office would naturally be empty usually.
He already knew that as the Royal Eunuch, he represented the authority of the Royal Family, a single rank lower than the Imperial Family and the emperor himself. Because of this, he would be instated as the Royal Inspector of the Royal Office, with general jurisdiction over the county and an overseeing position.
Yuanyun was supposed to enter the Magistrate’s Office, master the art of governance and rise from humble beginnings to the role of a magistrate. Finally, Yuanhan would enter the Garrison and rise to become the Garrison Commander.
Three people fully controlling the county – this way, even if their power was lower than that of the highest forces, with his Royal Path, he should still be able to take control of the county’s fortune!
Now, how come the Garrison doesn’t have a single third-stage martial artist???
And when he looked at the office right in front – it had the statue of a Human Emperor, widely known, descending from the immortal realm – Earthly Emperor Shennong, the ancestor of Spiritual Farming and Planting!
Such a force was a rare find in a county so far away. How come with the existence of such a force at the third stage, about to break through to the fourth stage, there still isn’t a soldier who reached the third stage?
National resources and local resources are available, but instead of producing a garrison leader...
He looked over to the southern force.
"Hmph," he scoffed. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The one that would benefit from a weak garrison was the family that overtook the role of protecting the town.
’It seems the families here have a particular... interest in keeping things clear of government influence. Then the magistrate might also be suspicious.’
