Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 215: The myth around the Wolfsburns
Andria’s POV
I glared at Becca. "You set me up."
She raised both hands. "I didn’t! I swear!"
Fine, I would say something, but not the entire truth.
"I dreamed," I said slowly, "about the game night... I guess I was just too excited for tonight," I said, chuckling under my breath. "But in my dream, the night ended in chaos."
The room fell silent.
Not what they expected, but it wasn’t a lie, just not the truth in detail.
Mel stiffened a bit.
Becca spun the bottle again quickly, easing the tension.
It pointed at...
Tricia.
Good.
Becca smiled sweetly. "Tricia... who in this room intimidates you the most?"
Tricia snorted. "No one."
But her eyes darted toward Aven, Damon, Tristan...
And then to me.
Interesting.
Damon scoffed, rolling his eyes lazily.
Tricia’s jaw clenched so hard her teeth creaked. "Fine. Only the Alpha successors, and maybe Aria sometimes."
Alexa whipped her head toward her so fast I swear her neck cracked. "What?"
"She intimidates me," Tricia repeated stiffly. "Happy now?"
I blinked. That was... unexpected.
Aven crooked laughter. "Oh, really, I never thought that could ever happen. Aria intimidates you."
This time, Alexa looked like she swallowed a lemon dipped in humiliation.
Becca spun again.
This time, it pointed at... Damon.
A collective breath was sucked in.
Becca grinned with evil excitement. "Damon... who in this room would you kiss if you had absolutely no choice?"
Alexa straightened, Tricia fixed her hair, and almost all the females in the room leaned forward.
Damon didn’t even blink.
"Aria," he replied calmly.
"Apart from Aria?" Becca stated, twisting her mouth. "You already kissed her on the talent show day."
"Well then, I kiss myself," he said, crossing his hands on his chest dramatically.
Heat crashed over me so violently I felt my ears burn.
The room erupted.
"What?"
"Seriously?"
"That was too fast!"
"No hesitation, damn!"
Alexa’s face collapsed. Tricia looked like she might commit homicide.
Aven smirked, but strengthened his hands over my shoulder. I could tell that he was being territorial. Tristan looked like he was fighting a smirk.
Damon leaned down behind me, murmuring against my ear, "You asked for honesty. This game demands it."
The bottle spun again, the air tightening further, and it seemed as though the breath of everyone in the room hung in the air.
But even as the room buzzed with laughter, whispers, and heated glares...
My focus slipped to Mel.
Her hands were trembling. She kept glancing toward the kitchen; her breathing was shallow.
Something was wrong, something was off.
"Ok Alexa, you have to choose three wolves here, who you will kiss, marry or kill. It isn’t gender-based," Becca said, calling me out of my focus.
Alexa got up giggling. She had been taking little sips of the whiskey, so I’m guessing that she must be a little bit tipsy by now.
"That would be so easy," Alexa said. Tricia was trying to help herself control herself a little, but Alexa rolled her eyes at her, telling her off.
I chuckled under my breath.
"I would kiss Tristan or Damon," she said, drawing her speech in a slurry manner, pointing at Tristan and Damon, while winking at them.
"You have to choose one, not two," Becca corrected.
"Arrgh," she muttered under her breath. "I’ll kiss Tristan then, since Damon is such a kill-joy, choosing to kiss only Aria," she slurred, and everyone burst out laughing.
"I’ll marry Sir Kaelric because he is just so composed, and there is just this air around him that screams royalty. Although I hated the way he handled Larissa and Tracy’s case, and I will never forget that..."
I noticed Mel and Tricia shift uncomfortably in their seats, the air in the room growing tense for a few seconds before relaxing when Alexa let out a loud laugh.
"I’ll kill Aria...She is just so annoying, and killing her will be the best thing I’ve ever done," she finished, laughing out loud, "I’m just saying my truth, I mean that’s some confession right...unlike someone who lied when she was called out."
Everyone was calm, as their gazes collectively snapped towards me. I wasn’t surprised, nor was I uncomfortable. She just fooled herself and made herself an open suspect if anything should happen to me someday. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Aria, are you good?" Becca called out, not in a worried tone, because she doesn’t need to act sentimental as a party host. We are here to have fun, and if this is Alexa’s way of having fun, then so be it.
"You are about to be murdered in cold blood by Alexa. You should be scared," she teased, and everyone burst out laughing.
Becca was doing just fine as the game-night host.
"We are done with this segment..."
"Can I ask Aria a question?, because it seems as if we are being sentimental here, and not asking the real confessional questions," Alexa interrupted.
"Alexa, we are done with that. We are moving forward to the next game," Becca said.
"Well, Aria, I’ve never heard of a Wolfsburn family’s female heir. They have only males in that family. Are you a bastard?" Alexa insisted, ignoring Becca’s words.
The question threw me off balance. I wasn’t expecting that sort of question, especially from Alexa. Everyone gasped, staring at me, and soon burst out in inaudible whispers.
The words stung. Alexa was crossing a boundary she wasn’t aware she was crossing.
"I did some research about your last name, because it seemed strange, more like a myth I’ve heard my mum tell me one time, about a family that never gave birth to female wolves.
The male wolves of the Wolfsburn family bonded with other females but never gave birth to female wolves. So it was absurd to see a young female Wolfsburn.
I had to check everything about the myth to find out whether it was true or just a fallacy, and behold, there was actually a Wolfsburn family, but they never recorded any female births.
I thought of the chances that they must have had female children, but they probably chose to kill them or exclude them from family records. So maybe by chance, you are a forsaken offspring of the Wolfsburn."
She twisted a strand of her hair in her hands, while twisting her mouth, she was enjoying the audience, their gasps, their whispers. She was in the spotlight, and she was putting me down with the chance she got.
It felt as if she had prepared for this moment; it felt as if she had come for this. I did not doubt that this confrontation would make Ashwood’s headline, even before tomorrow.
But I had to say something in my defence. It’s a good thing her research stopped at that. At least she hasn’t disclosed the fact that I had forged my entire existence in Ashwood.
I would rather be known as the forsaken or rejected offspring, rather than the fraud.
"If I may ask, you have done proper research, as you may call it, but have you thought that whatever you know now is what they chose to let you know?" I said firmly.
I had also done proper research on the family before choosing their name. They had daughters scattered across the kingdom; some decided to bear the name, while others did not.
The Wolfsburn never rejected their females, but a myth about them led to their being handed over or sold to prestigious families across the kingdom.
The Wolfsburn females don’t know each other, but they know they belong to the Wolfsburn, and that made the Identity the most suitable for me.
"Oh, please don’t sugarcoat the fact that you are rejected," she scoffed.
"Why would I argue with you? It’s obvious you know part of what you think you know whole, and..."
"And her identity is not up for you to research," Zade said, walking into the room.
What a surprise! I never expected Zade to come. I glanced over at Mel, knowing that she was the culprit who must have invited him here.
She chuckled and folded her arms, a satisfied expression gracing her face. As if she were saying, ’Now let the drama begin. ’
Every wolf’s eyes snapped towards the direction of Zade’s voice. There was a deafening silence as he walked calmly, his footsteps echoing against the floor.
He walked towards me and bent down to my ear.
"You didn’t care to invite me, I wonder why. But anyways, I’m here now, and your secret is safe with me."
Immediately he said this, he stood up, straightened and walked away to an empty seat on one of the sofas.
What did he mean by that? Could it be that he must have found out about my true identity? That would be the worst thing that had ever happened to me since coming to Ashwood.
I straightened, pretending to be unfazed by the turmoil and storm that was raging within.
Becca let out a sigh of relief. Being lost for more than ten minutes, she regained her composure.
"Now that was very tense. We move over to the next item on our list. We hope there will be less drama this time. I can see we all came hungry for drama," Becca said.
Everyone seemed stirred up by her words, as they started chanting, "More drama! More drama! That’s what we have come to watch."
