Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 244: Unexpected visitor
Zade’s POV
"Ari, just know that I won’t stop loving you," I muttered under my breath, disappointed and unable to look at her.
She didn’t turn back; she just stood before the door for a few seconds as if she were trying to digest my words, then opened the door and left.
A part of me wanted her to turn back and stay, but I knew that was just a fantasy.
I had hurt Andria, the only female wolf I had ever loved.
But there was still this lingering connection between us, apart from the mate bond; I could feel it anytime I touched her.
I would visit the Falcons with the same treatment they had lashed out at Andria, forcing her to change her identity to escape their cruel hands.
I would start with the parents.
My phone rang, and I rushed to pick it up from the dining table, where I had left it while preparing breakfast for Ari.
It was Sir Kaelric.
"How is Ari now?" He asked, worry lacing his tone.
"She is ok. She just left my apartment," I replied calmly, heading to my room.
"What happened to her?" He asked.
"That’s unlike you to ask such questions," I replied, not willing to share what had happened last night to her with him.
"What happened to her? And how did she end up passing out, Zade? I heard she was with you before she passed out," he insisted.
"She drank ok...she drank. Maybe she took more than her body could carry, and she ended up passing out on my chest. I did nothing to her," I replied.
Sir Kaelric was trying to make an issue where there was none.
I’m literally already pissed that Andria chooses him and the Alpha successors and rejects me, and now he is policing me about her welfare. Hell, I’m her mate too.
"She’s at her place, if you want to know her whereabouts now," I replied, hanging up the phone abruptly.
I was fuming, angry at myself for believing Lena over Andria, furious for being so blind to her pain, yet thinking I was being the better one.
My mind went back to how I had treated her.
"Leave Lena alone, you little whore. You did it, I saw you, and yet you deny it and try to fight her," I shouted at her, holding the hand she held up to slap Lena.
"I didn’t do such a thing, Zade, believe m,e I won’t...I can’t, and she is lying. It’s a setup, Zade," she pleaded.
"You are always the victim, Andria. You hate taking responsibility for your actions, even when you were already caught in the act. How do you explain this scene in the restroom?" I asked, bringing out a video recording Lena had sent to me.
"I swear I wasn’t doing anything. That’s a setup...I don’t know him...I don’t know how..."
"Shut up, Ari. You are so unbelievable. Lying and yet shedding crocodile tears. I can never trust you in my life again," I shouted.
A crowd was already forming around us, and Andria was trembling, and I caught the glint in Lena’s eyes, but I was too furious to understand that this was a scheme.
One of the schemes she used to maltreat Andria was snatching all her friends and leaving her lonely and prone to bullying.
I walked out from the midst of the crowd, being the most popular jerk back then at ’Reality Schools’ in my sophomore year.
The other students gathered, throwing crumpled paper at her.
"Little slut!" one of them shouted, and soon all of them started changing the same thing and throwing crumpled papers at her.
After school that day, I confronted the jerk in the video with my friends Nathan and Landon.
We dragged him to the restroom and beat him mercilessly. I was silently wishing it was a lie, but even if it was, the whole school already knew about the scandal, and it would be a dent in my reputation to continue my relationship with Andria.
After so much beating, to an extent, he couldn’t take anymore. He admitted that it was a setup. But even then, I didn’t know what to believe, whether he was saying that because he was tired of receiving pain or if it was the truth.
Either way, Reality School wasn’t a place I would like to be in anymore. It held memories and hurt I never wanted to confront again.
Seeing Andria in Ashwood again reminded me of the jackass I had been to her. The hurt and embarrassment she endured because of me, and how I couldn’t defend her when she needed me the most.
I was a coward...Indeed, I was a coward.
I hissed and walked to my room, heading to the shower.
Turned on the shower and let the water wash away the regrets I had been nursing since finding out the truth about Aria.
I walked to the vanity, applied some ointment, put on some pants, and a shirt and went to the kitchen.
Washed the dishes and then walked back to the sitting room and settled in for a movie.
A few moments later, I heard a knock on my door. I reluctantly stood up to get it.
"Hi, Zade."
I stood there, surprised. It was Lena, Andria’s foster sister.
"Lena, what are you doing here?" I asked, confused.
She walked in, ignoring my question. "Your place looks very lovely. Ashwood is such a beautiful academy, no wonder it’s widely spoken about," she said, looking around, and pacing my sitting room as if she owned the place.
"You don’t look happy to see me," she finally said, looking at me in a manner that looked like she was studying me.
She looked like trouble. I wonder what brought her to Ashwood now.
Was she also looking for Andria? Did she find a clue? Andria doesn’t need extra enemies; she already has a lot on her plate, and Lena definitely means extra.
But she wouldn’t recognize her now, would she?.
"What are you doing in Ashwood and in my room, Lena?" I asked firmly, visibly irritated.
"Awwn, stop that, Zade. You are acting like we aren’t good friends. Can’t I come visiting when I need to?" She asked, seductively slowing her voice.
"Not after what you did to my friend. He told me everything," I replied.
"What’s that? Who is that?" She asked and paused, looking like she just recalled something. "... Oh, Landon, my ex-boyfriend?"
