My heart was bursting with joy as I sat on the podium in front of the crowd watching Noah address the people. Today was my official induction of the Office of the Luna and dignitaries across the Eastern region were in attendance.

It’s been two weeks since I and Noah went into therapy and nearly a week since my children returned to Greyhound with Xavier. For some reason, in the last conversation Noah and Xavier had done some good or so I thought and for an equally unknown reason, Noah has been so good to me. We haven’t had any quarrels either and I could tell the therapy now was more for formality’s sake than for our marriage because everything was going well.

I suspected it had to do with what Xavier told Noah but at this point, I wasn’t interested in finding out and have decided to go with the flow. Whatever it was, I don’t care, and I won’t.

"When my wife first came to me with the idea of making Luna’s office functional, I thought it was a crazy idea because, in my mind, I have limited the place of a woman to only be in the house, taking care of the children and just be there but when her intentions were made known to me, I knew I just had to. This way, the Office of the Luna will also give the women voices to speak and believe me when I say the Luna has a lot of packages planned for every woman present here today,".

He paused and allowed his eyes to search the faces of all the people present. Noah was a wonderful orator. He had a way of getting into people’s heads and making them fall in love with him and I know he was doing all of this because he wanted me to have a smooth landing. If only he knew that I had prepared for this day for three years ago. Except for a few tweaks to my well-memorized speech, I had everything under control.

"So, I would ask that you give my Luna all the support she needs because let’s face it... we will be nowhere without the support of our mates and with this, I hope the people can tell how much I love them and have their interests at heart. I will stop here for now and allow our Luna to tell you more, Thank you,".

The crowd erupted into a standing ovation as he returned to me and stretched his hand towards me to pull me to my feet. Our gazes met as we shared a hot, passionate kiss – oblivious to the hoots and excited shouts from the people behind us. Did I mention that our sex life has improved a lot?

We finally had to end the kiss and I allowed Noah to escort me to the microphone before he returned to take his seat. The crowd quietened as every eye turned to me. This would be the first time I would be addressing them and rather than being nervous, I was excited. This was the most difficult part of the plan but since I had overcome this stage, the rest of it would be easy peasy.

"Good morning, everyone," I started "Before I proceed, I would like to apologize to everyone present here today and by everyone," I left the stage, and took the steps at the corner, ignoring the soldiers who came to whisper to me not to go into the crowd. As soon as the people saw me, they all parted, and everyone turned to me. I could see the shock in their eyes at my action. Both from the pack elders and officials sitting on the podium and Noah who had half-risen to his feet. "I meant you – the people who are the real owners of this pack. I’m sorry it took me this long to talk to you all and I feel like a hypocrite standing here today but I promise, it will be different this time and before we continue, I need to know that you have all accepted my apology. Yes?"

There was silence in the crowd as everyone turned to stare at each other. Suddenly, someone shouted "Accepted Luna," followed by scattered echoes of everyone else. With practised ease, I let a tear roll to my cheek as I murmured thank you. After when they had all quietened, I continued.

"Now, I want to acknowledge the presence of my Husband and my one and only true mate," I turned towards Noah "Who has given me this opportunity to prove myself to the people. I love you, baby,"

The crowd whimpered wistfully at my open display of affection. "Also, my sister-in-law, Luna Nora, the esteemed Grand Lycan and every Pack official and Elder present her today. Including all the emissaries that had come from one pack or the other in the Easter region, I welcome you all and may you all be blessed,".

Because of the eyes of the people on them, the dignitaries at the table especially the pack elders and officials including Nora and the Grand Lycan were forced to clap their hands and acknowledge my greeting.

"Now, there’s one more person, I’d like to introduce to you all... I am sure she’s a familiar face since she lived most of her adulthood here in Moon Whisper. She’s hardworking and these few days of working with her, I feel like we shouldn’t entirely judge people based on their actions or certain known bad habits... what I am saying in essence is that we should always see the good in people," I added quickly when I saw everyone staring at me with confusion on their faces.

"Without further ado, let’s welcome my very own Beta, Brooke,".

I walked up to where Brooke was sitting with the crowd and reached for her hand. I noticed she recoiled but I forcefully yanked her towards me feeling her squirming beside me. I dragged her until we were standing in front of the people. I could see the confusion on Noah’s face and for a moment, I detected fear in his eyes just the way I wanted it to be.

"I know there are lots of rumours that Brooke here," I raised her hand "May have seduced and slept with the Lycan King but who cares... whether or not she’s a woman with easy virtue it doesn’t matter. She has all it takes to join me in leading the women of Moon Whisper. She’s capable, smart, hardworking... c’mon... I will lay aside my sentiments anytime, any day rather than miss out on work with my wonderful. Beta, Brooke. Please, a round of applause for her,".

The crowd erupted into happy cheers. From the back of the crowd, a few women – part of whom were part of the women group the girls’ nanny had introduced me to, raised placards and cardboard that read. ’Our Luna sees the good in everyone, can you believe she’s working with the Lycan’s mistress?’

’If the Luna can forgive a cheating mate... she can fix our problems’.

"Brooke!" I turned to her "Why don’t you say a few words to the people?" I said with a bright smile.

Before she had the chance to protest, I thrust the mic into her hand and took a step backwards. She was flustered by the whole thing and nervous too. She held the mic for a few minutes, probably contemplating what to say.

"I want to thank the Luna for allowing me to serve with her and I promise to give my best," she murmured and stretched the mic towards me. As she was about to go, someone from the crowd grabbed her hand and shouted.

"Is it true, Beta Brooke that you seduced and slept with His Majesty despite knowing he has a Luna?"

The noise was increasing by the minute... I could feel Noah’s glare on me but I wasn’t going to pay attention to him either. Shrugging my shoulders as if I had no other choice, I thrust the mic into the closest hand I coud see.

"Before we will fully accept you as our Beta," it was a woman "You need to confirm whether your affair with his Majesty is true and we need to know that our husbands will be save moving forward,".

"How dare you talk about His Majesty in such manner," Reid’s voice turned making the people cower, all except the women from my group.

"We have the right to question whomever is set to serve us," one of them shouted matching Reid’s glowering glare with one of hers. We have a right to the truth and you cannot stop or oppress us, except his Majesty is subtly trying to tell us that he doesn’t give a damn about us,".

Noah sighed and becknoned to Reid to return to his seat. The people turned to Brooke again who was now shaking with fear and kept insisting that she answers them. While everyone waited, there was no answer forthcoming from Brooke and the crowd was growing restless. From the corner of my eyes, I see Noah rise to his feet and seized a mic.

"Yes!" he finally responds "I committed a grave sin against my Luna with Brooke but I am trying to make up for it and my Luna has forgiven. I am so sorry and I hope...".

"Then how can you make a woman who nearly tore you and the Luna apart her Beta or is his majesty still interested in bedding her again?"

Noah was stunned. His eyes met mine and I looked at him with smiles on my face. This would teach him not to ever mess with me.

"Of course not!" he said with a soft chuckle. "I only love the Luna and no one else,".

"Then we demand you remove Brooke as her Beta," one of the women said.

Soon, the ground was chanting ’Remove Brooke..." and the atmosphere was getting heated. As the people pressed forward, chanting at the top of their voices... in the end, the will of the people must and I must get exactly WHAT I WANT!
